The number of 16+ ep long kdramas has cratered in recent years going from over a 100 in 2019 to less than 50 last year. Things do not seem like they will be much different in 2025 based on the lineups so far. Probably influenced by the age of streaming, where shorter length series are the norm, and increasingly short attention spans encouraged by the age of fast and easy app content. Is the age of long drawn out Korean series over? Will this be the end of nonsensical filler eps and convoluted plot lines used to drag series out to their unnecessary, lengthy ends? Once can only hope so!

I hope so. I don't mind a long run time for the right story. But most of the time they drag a 12 episode story out to 16.
