side story= only the supporting character(s) are gay
only hinted at = no explicit romance/sex, but hints at it in an obvious way

Jumong, one of the most popular Korean dramas of all time, had a canon gay couple in 2007--a secondary, peripheral but the two men were clearly spoken about as gay.

My Friend is Still Alive should be Bromance instead. The two male actor have no physical or sexual desire for each other. They are friends who are more than just friends. They love each other, but not because they are attracted to each other, but more rather because of the memories they had shared together.
