Quantcast
Hola fellow drama lovers! I'm Ari_Lee a.k.a. LisNoir, so if you see someone calling me Lis it's because of that. Either way, I don't mind. I'm also the South Korean moderator and I come with an important message: a guideline for how discussion threads should be made.

The first thing you need to do when you are going to make a new discussion thread is thoroughly check if there is already one for the same topic. Making a duplicate thread will just waste your time, and mine, since I will either close, merge, or probably delete the repeated thread. Please use the search feature the forum has.

If you don't know where the search is, look at the image below.

You can also check the "Directory" threads. These are stickies at the top of the forum, but you shouldn't solely rely on those since they are not always up to date.

Once you have made sure there are no threads for the variety show you want to discuss here is the basic info the thread should contain.

- Poster/image of the show/movie
- Link to the MDL database entry (if available)
- Synopsis
- Cast (although this can be optional)
- Trailer and/or OST (make sure if you are posting the latter that it is spoiler free)

Also, please do not post any spoilers on that first post containing the information. You can always make a second post after that initial one and fangirl/rave/rant to your heart's desire. Spoilers outside of drama discussion threads should be hidden by using white font.

This is an example of how the thread should look. Click!

Personally, I don't mind any discussion thread which, at least, has a poster/image, MDL database link, synopsis, and trailer. But the thread looks a bit more complete with all the elements I mentioned above. We have to remember that while some of us may know a lot of the Korean actors, dramas, and movies others may not. So making a new thread with just the title of the drama/film/show and saying "This was awesome." is not very informative.

Also, if the thread you are making it's not for a drama/film discussion, but for another type of topic which is not country specific, I suggest also searching the General Asia forum since new threads for an existing topic will also be merged or deleted.

Thanks for your cooperation and don't hesitate to ask me anything you have doubts about! :D
what about download links? can we make a topic in this forum for downloading a drama and add link from putlocker or uploadbaz or uploadboy?
No, if you want to share links it would be best to do it via PM.

Good Afternoon Ari,

My name is Marjolein Towler and as the moderator of this forum I wanted to let you know that I have just received permission from the MDL team (see image below) to post a link to my anonymous online K-drama audience survey on MDL and felt that your forum is the most suitable. However, I noted your rules about links, so that is why I am reaching out now.

Just to explain, I am a PhD student at the School of Media and Communication at Murdoch University in Western Australia. I am undertaking a research project on the global appeal of K-drama and have developed an anonymous online audience survey. I am also a paid member of MDL since 2023 and a complete K-drama nut.

I am awaiting permission from our Human Research Ethics committee before I can post anything, so it will not happen straight away. I propose the use the following message with the link embedded:

G'day K‑drama friends!

Do you have strong feelings about plot twists, second leads, and “just one more episode” at 3am? I’m Marjolein, a PhD researcher at Murdoch University in Western Australia, and I’m running an anonymous online survey about how international fans watch and experience Korean dramas.

If you’re 18+ and love K‑dramas, I’d love to hear from you. The survey takes about 30 minutes, is completely voluntary, and has been approved by Murdoch University’s Human Research Ethics Committee.

Spill your K‑drama thoughts here: [Survey link]

Please share the love and pass the link on to other K‑drama fans who might be keen to help out too.

Thank you for helping with my research!
