@ylisse: when you posted that before, I remembered commenting that they were definitely NOT Trash's parents. In Ep 20, we got to know that *Sseuregi's omma died* before 2002 so the lady in that picture is not her. But we also know that sometime in 1999/2000, Sseuregi's appa was confined in THE hospital...we don't know what happens to him yet and why he doesn't make it to the wedding.

Episode 21 raw is up on viki. Gonna watch it now~! Cheers!

But I insist. And I mean the 2nd pic not the pic above. hehe. Kindly rewatch episode 12, part 42:26, that was the part the pic was cropped from. What I am mislead of was I thought the 2nd pic was from the 2002 wedding and I thought that if *Trash's mother died* before the wedding, how come she was on 2002 wedding? They are Trash's parents, at least that's what I knew basing off from the episode where Trash attended his brother's wedding (with all the greetings on Najung's parents as well). The 2nd picture was a shot on 1995,.

Done with episode 21, with no subs though. GOODLUCK. I didn't finish the whole livestream,.

Ah okay if you insist.
I didn't watch episode 21 and I'm not going to, I was reading live comments whilst it was airing and now I'm too upset. Once I calm down, maybe in a year or so, then I'll watch it :P

From what I know though I am really unsatisfied, I feel like plots and characters were added and dropped just to keep the audience tuning in each week. In the end this drama boils down to *21 hours watching a couple who like each other get together, then break only to get back together. I really thought this drama would be different, that we would see someone have a change of heart after growing up. Nope, same first-love is the best BS*

Happily I got Reply 1997 on DVD for Christmas, so I can rewatch that and remember happier times.

I share your feelings. I knew my ship wouldn't end up together, but *after all the angst they made CB go through last episode, one would think that they gave him a satisfying ending. But I watched the last episode and I was definitely not content with his ending. I'm hoping for a special featuring a follow-up of his story sometime soon. *

Absolutely I would agree, and having watched Vietnamese - French film "The Scent of Green Papaya" (which was a hint in the earlier eps) - where Mai makes her dream a reality (Marrying her brother's best friend).
what happened? there was NO STORY for half the drama.
Here are my thoughts:*I am perfectly content with the ending. I was glad it solved the mystery early and brought us back to where the show started: the development of friendships and the joy of having family, because that's what's most important--having someone else, no matter the relationship. To be honest, this episode (after the mystery part) is the reason the drama will get a 10 from me. Probably my favorite thing is how Trash and Chilbong mended their friendship. I was very satisfied by this and very touched. :)

Even in the deepest throes of my love for Chilbongie, I gradually accepted Trash as a possibility for Na Jeong's husband. I may not have liked it as much, but i accepted it. What hurt me at the time that both man's feelings were lain bare to each other was the fact that their Hyung-Dongsaeng relationship was put on hold. Part of that I understand; it's natural to be jealous of one's rival, but I was disappointed in how spiteful that fight seemed. That spitefulness, unfortunately, trickled down to us, and our relationships as drama chingus was challenged.

What I hope, then, is that now that Trash and Chilbongie have made up, we too should do so as well. As I said before, the greatness of Reply 1994 is the overall idea of the family, and our drama family could take a lesson from the Shinchon Boarding House family. That's is the show's message to us; all we need to do is reply to it.

I totally agree with this review:http://mydramalist.com/reviews/id/10408

I knew something was horribly wrong with the writer when Bing Geu Re suddenly became straight. I suffered through misdirection after misdirection with no story line or character growth. There was absolutely no point to this story because Na Jung was not Trash's first love, so even their happy little conclusion was wrong.
It's a good thing they revealed the husband earlier and then left the family and friendship bonding on the last part, that I will remember it's the best thing on this drama. I love all the characters on the boarding house and with them, I can say that this drama is still worth watching., despite an injustice to such an endearing character. No deep character growth, rushed happy ending, no arc of his own, how can this drama do this to him?!!!! Thank God, his friends are there. The special needs to be an exclusive episode of him. Rant done. Moving on......
The most disappointing drama of the year.
That was quite logical; I assumed that the groom would be Trash ever since episode 10 but I became surer after episode 12 or 13; it's so obvious that CB became a second male lead by then. I don't know why would people consider the result a surprise, it was really clear how would things go; it's just that the writers did some unnecessary trolling.
I assumed that Trash would be the husband since episode 1. All the scenes from from the 'present'(94,95,96) pointed to Trash. I always felt that CB was a side character.i wished we got to know him better and I wished we'd have seen him interact with the others characters more ( at some point it felt like all his scenes were with Nj or about her at least). I feel that way partly because Iliked his scenes with Nj's father the best.
i like who she ended up with, but i don't really like how the last episode was shown. it's like everything was suddenly rushed.

They dealt with the gay issue much better in Reply 1997 in this they threw the premise out there then abandoned it in later episodes. I initially thought the Writer's would be brave enough to make Trash & Bingerae a couple but no all we got was a tepid love triangle stretched out over nearly 30 hours.

Another gripe I have with the Writer's is that they threw in so many red herrings then didn't know what to do with them by the end. I sort of feel a little like I did when I finished Lost lol

I would be even more annoyed & disappointed if not for the amazing supporting characters who saved this show.

Like you I knew early on that Trash was the groom. I personally felt that Na Jong & Trash relationship especially in early episodes was too much brother/sister for me to be comfortable with them suddenly becoming a couple. In the early eps she was obsessed with that basketball player, remember & Trash has a girlfriend.

What I really object to is the Writer's making a big song & dance about hiding the identity of the groom. It became farcical by the end. In Reply 1997 she didn't really properly date either of them so keeping the identity of who she ended up with worked better. In Reply 1994 they made a mockery of the whole thing. Also it didn't help that 1994 was a lot longer if you take account of the extra long episodes it was more like a 30 episode drama...and trying to carry on the mystery of who she chose became ridiculous & redundant over that length of time.

I am unsure of what mark to give this drama, I loved all the side characters and the comedy & touching moments I just disliked the whole "love triangle" storyline they made a total mess of it.
