HeadInTheClouds:

Took 7 weeks to get to me and took me 4 week to post about it :-)

The biggest instant noodles I've ever seen. Haven't tried them yet, but the packaging seem quality so hopefully the product will be the same.

You've been busy, and it is easy to get distracted ... at least it is for me.  lol

They ARE big bags.  But they are packed with all those goodies, and not just noodles, right?

 Joa:
Wow! U must post ur review. Ive been trying to get my hands on the ones with tjc on the packaging, the dry and extra ingredient versions. And when no one is home, i will try them. Hahaha...

Note: the bamboo shoots are the source of the smell, so u can put them last.

Did you see that video of the GIANT bag that had several of these big bags in them?  Where Tan Jian Ci opened it and started pulling out the goodies, including a kiss. lol  I have to find it.

Ohhhh, so I could eat these noodles without the stinky if I don't open / add the bamboo shoots?

I remember some giant bag but not him opening it. I must go find that video! Was it from the livestream?

My family said that there was still some smell from the soup  although im not sure they were just over reacting due to the trauma.  Hahaha

Have u bought as well?

No, not the livestream though around that time. It's this video.

LOL!  The trauma of snail noodles. heh   No, I haven't.  Though I should check when I go to the Asian market this weekend.

Yes, I shall. I might try it tomorrow while I'm home alone. Give the house a chance to air out before the fam comes home. Otherwise, I'll be listening to complaints all week :-).

Apparently, the purple bag is the original flavour, while the other one is the spicy and "frangrance", aka stinky flavour. Guess which one I'll be trying?

I didn't know that there was a dried version as well.

I'd think there will be all the extra ingredients (tofu skin, sauces, etc.) as well.

But the stink is part of the experience! I think the smell is infused in the soup, so you won't be able to get away from it. It will be a matter of how stinky you want it. You could get the stinky version like me if you're feeling adventurous :-)

I haven't seen this video, but I saw an ad on Facebook with a lot of TJC-related merchandise like chopsticks and spoon set that's part of the promotion for the new release of the noodles.

LOL!  Well if you've cleared the house, so go smelly!

Hmmm.  In the soup itself.  Hmmmm.  Now I'm trying to think of the most smelly thing I've ate... or if I've eaten anything like it.  Smelly cheese?

Yes, the giant soup bowl with the utensils!  I could totally use those.

I've tried not putting shoots in and the broth smell still gets to me. I have one bag left from a gift sent to me and I'm too scared to finish it. Eating it comes with the risk of stomach problems and I usually think myself as someone with high spice tolerance...so Tans spice tolerance is on another level since he eats this more often without complications. 😂🤣

Oh wow.  So it is smelly and spicy hot?  Hmmmmm.  Not sure I can handle that either.

We're overdue for a review. I tried both versions - the original and stinky and spicy (no not on the same day :-)) and can review both.

Overall, it's a solid thumbs-up from me. It suited my taste buds and was worth the 7-week wait. I enjoyed it more than when I tried it in the shop.

There was not much difference between the two versions. Despite the claim of being stinky, I couldn't detect a significant difference in stinkiness compared to the original version.  I think the biggest difference was that the stinky version had 2 extra bags of ingredients and a bigger bag of chilli oil.

The smell is definitely infused into the soup, and also from the preserved bamboo shoots. I'm very used to eating bamboo, so I don't find the smell to be anything of note, and the soup is also no big deal for me. But bear in mind that I eat shrimp paste and fermented tofu, so my tolerance for stinky/pungent food is very high. Lol!

The dish is absolutely on the strong side, so if your palate tends towards the delicate and light, you will find it quite overwhelming.  Compared a bowl of Japanese Udon Noodles Soup with a bowl of Laksa, and this one is definitely on the Laksa side of the scale. It's probably even more potent considering the chilli and vinegar, and unusual smell.

You can adjust the chilli and vinegar level (they come in separate satchels). I used the entire packet of chilli oil and find it nice and spicy. Asian spicy rather than Caucasian spciy ;-). Again, please be aware that I can eat Caroline Reapers so my chilli tolerance if quite high :-).

Yay!!!  Thank you for the review.

I can't believe all those packages.  I do add stuff to ramen / soba, but it's all stuff from my refrigerator, not included with the packages.  Half the time, I prefer to just make some miso soup and use somen noodles.

I love the idea of ranking by stinkiness.  lol

Thank you for the pictures.  I'm not sure I could handle that much spicy.  I don't think my taste is delicate, by stomach might be. :)

Hi guys, I'm back from Hengdian and Hangzhou. Didnt get much of tjc here but i brought my XL figurine. This is the only shot i took cos almost all the actual filming locations were out of bounds to tourists..

I also went to the spot for the MK promotion event in April and took photos of the surroundings. The rest are just tjc endorsements i found along the way.

And the luosifen restaurants there were another level of stink! They put my instant luosifen to shame.

How cool!  I love your pics!  Thank you for sharing.  I definitely recognize that set with your cool XL figure.   So many endorsements!  I'm not sure that cardboard Crocs Tan Jian Ci will survive there long.  I remember fans making off with his KFC cardboard figures.  lol
