in summary 

the only person whose description uses the word “Love” [ai] is XL. for the rest, the word喜欢 [xihuan] was used in the specific description. Ah, for XY, another word有情 was used. 

In term of loving depth and commitment, i guess [ai]>[xihuan]

About Jing’s lifespan:

the evil 8 tailed Fox had significant degradation in spiritual power due to 1 tail loss. Thus he had wanted to eat XY (dissolved her spiritual power into her blood so that he could take full potential). Jing lost more than 70% of this power.

i remember after the robbery, XY met Jing and he had suffered sickness (over some years) at that time he was predicted of only 100 year living ahead if his sickness was not cured.

a healthy deity such as Yellow emperor could live for 5000 years or more. jing could not surpass 1500 years (i guess).

Is the 1500-year estimate with his full power?

If illness alone could reduce his lifespan down to 100 years of living, with him losing 7 of his 9 tails, it really doesn't bode well for his health. Sounds like he will be emotionally and probably physically dependent on her.  It's very much the same dynamic that she had with Lao Mu, Chun Zi etc. It's the same dynamic that she had with 17 at the beginning as well. Thankfully, she still has Left-Ear for protection, because her archery skills alone may not be enough.

color doesn’t mater so much. it mainly relates to family/clan or country

I found it. Actually, the scene with the branches took place after the Xuan Yuan-Gao Xin war ended.

小夭捂住耳朵，嚷道：“不要听了！被你一说很多事都变了味道。”

璟拽住小夭，让她低头避开路边横生的树枝，笑道：“大势虽不可逆，可人力也决定了很多，若没有陛下的克制、高辛王的豁达，很难有现在皆大欢喜的结局。”

Xiao Yao covered her ears and shouted, "I don't want to hear any more! Many things sound off with your analysis."

Jing grabbed Xiao Yao and had her lower her head to avoid the overgrown branches by the roadside, then laughed, "While the tide is irreversible, human efforts play a huge role in determining the outcome. Without the restraint of His Majesty and the Gao Xin king's open-mindedness, it would have been difficult to achieve the happy conclusion for everyone that we are seeing now."

Contrast that with this scene:

策马走山间的小路时，他总让她走前面，因为当前面的人经过后，横生的树枝常会弹打到后面的人。

相柳怎么可能温柔地和她说话，体贴地让着她，耐心地陪着她？也只有防风邶这种浪荡子才能那么了解女人的心思。

When riding along a narrow mountain path, he would always let her ride ahead of him because after the person in front had passed by, the overgrown branches would spring back and hit the person behind.

How could Xiang Liu ever talk to her gently, thoughtfully let her have her way, patiently spend time with her? Only a libertine like Fangfeng Bei would understand a woman's heart so well.

Even without the implication of parallel scenes, one thing that struck me is how these two scenes mirror the way each man loved her:

With Fangfeng Bei, she always walked ahead boldly without a care, while he followed behind to take on the backlash and consequences of her actions.
Jing walked alongside her and made her tread with caution to avoid being hit.

One allowed her to live her life bold and free, while the other made her circumspect.

That's correct. 

Chi Chen, Xiang Liu etc belong to the Shen Nong kingdom (red).

Xiao Yao, Cang Xuan, A Heng etc belong to the Xuan Yuan kingdom (orange).

Gao Xin Shao Hao, A Nian belong to the Gao Xin kingdom (blue).

Jing and Hou belong to the Tushan clan (dark green).

The Royal Mother of Jade Mountain is independent and represented by pale green.

Even my kids are now looking askance at Mummy for always being on MDL and referencing the novels. I need S2 quickly to try and move on... gah!

No pressure. Zero. I would never want you to feel like this thread has assigned you homework or like fandom was turning into work. (Unless you actually wanted to make it into work... because I would 100% support a liddi patreon). Spend time with your kids and enjoy real life for sure.

I'm not planning to write any more LYF fics. But if the stars align and inspiration unexpectedly strikes, I'll definitely drop the link here. Same idea goes for translations. No expectations at all. But if the mood strikes and you find yourself translating any of it and felt like sharing it, you'd have an enthusiastic and pleasantly surprised audience. ^^

Please don't worry about that - any time I have spent here is time I personally enjoy. The great company and interesting discussions plays a massive role in that enjoyment - thank you all so much. My problem is with the inability to move on yet. It's wild how I still get sad as I revisit certain scenes, or view them from a different angle thanks to the ideas presented here. 

In the event that you decide to share another fic with us, you can definitely be sure of an appreciative audience here too. In the meantime, let us hold our collective breaths - it's a shame we don't have a nine-headed demon to pass air to us when we are blue in the face!

Chapter 16: FFB- XY

The two of them arrived at the entrance to the gambling den and Fang Feng Bei took off his mask. When they stepped outside it was already dark out and Xiao Yao took a deep breath of the crisp air.

She said “I really want to know what you said to him.”

Fang Feng Bei laughed “If you hug me too, then I’ll tell you. Your beauty scheme was no use on him, but it’ll work on me.”

Xiao Yao stomped her foot “Forget it!”

She huffed off angrily and Fang Feng Bei followed behind her “Fine, I’ll tell you.”

“I don’t want to know anymore!”

“Really?”

“Don’t want to know!”

Fang Feng Bei grabbed her arm and tried to placate her “But I want to tell you, can you please hear it.”

Xiao Yao controlled the smile at the corner of her lips “How are you going to beg me to listen?”

“I hug you once? I’m willing to use my handsome man wiles on you.”

Xiao Yao was angry and amused and shoved him “Fang Feng Bei, you’re toying with me!”

Fang Feng Bei laughed and held onto her arm “I told him that I was once a slave in the death battle matches, yet I survived.”

Xiao Yao stood still and stared in anger “You lied to him!”

Fang Feng Bei smiled “Hope is but a lie.”

Xiao Yao’s anger dissipated but she shook her head “He is locked in a cage but he’s a very smart beast. He wouldn’t have believed you that easily. What else did you do?”

“I used the code word that only the slaves in the death match battle arenas would know.”

Chapter 38 - Jing -XY

Xiao Yao was so exasperated and yelled “I heard that before the Young Master of Qing Qiu was so quick witted and glib, I just thought they were all being mean to you! Now I totally regret it but its not because Feng Long has unlimited potential but because you’re a super meanie!”

Jing scooted next to Xiao Yao “What would make me a nice guy then? I let you hit me?”

Xiao Yao lifted her head and huffed “I don’t feel like it anymore!”

Jing stuck his head in front of Xiao Yao “How about hit me twice?”

“Humph!” Xiao Yao turned her head again.

“Three times?”

The Yellow Emperor’s laughter rang out and Xiao Yao and Jing quickly moved apart a few inches. The Yellow Emperor lightly coughed and said “I came to get a drink of water, you two continue on teasing each other.”

“Who’s teasing with him! He’s being mean to me!” Xiao Yao’s face was bright red as she ran to pour a cup of water to hand to the Yellow Emperor.


So, FFB flirted and wanted to grab intimate manner with XY while Jing wanted to be dominated by XY
