Definitely. I was talking on Tuesday with one of my best friends from the university. She still lives in Bogotá and she told me that there is a paisa guy that has millions of followers and she is stinky rich doing the most stupid videos ever. That he doesn’t know what to do with the money so he moved to Hong Kong because he wanted to learn mandarin. That he bought to his mom a Lamborghini and some other things( that’s is good because he is blessing her). His sister supposedly started doing the same thing and that one of her videos was, ohhh let’s make my brother to be mad so that she went to the car garage where they have so many expensive cars and she grabbed a baseball bat or something like that and started breaking the windows of one of his cars 😱😱😱😱😡😡😡. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE??? And you are making money showing that ???? 🤮🤮🤮🤮
The problem is that people all over the world are getting dumber. That's a fact, not an insult. Social media has exposed this for all to see. The attention span of humans is also shrinking. It's particularly concerning for kids growing up in today's world. So these dumb videos with nothing of value are what grab people's attention for a period of 15 seconds or less. It's that endless scrolling that works as dopamine. It's sad, really. When I decided to start learning a difficult language, was in part because I wanted to focus more on important things and put my brain to work.
Technology is a blessing, no doubt, but it's also the cause of many many problems we have today. Those fake celebrities are a direct result of it. Bunch of talentless hacks. It's good that they all seem to disappear in a decade or so, but it's still too long to have them around doing absolutely nothing of relevance to the world.
