Hi all, I'm looking for some recommendations for two different genres though my one caveats for both are:
must have a happy ending with the main couple together
no death of main characters that we sympathise with (I just can't deal with it, stopped watching Hometown Cha Cha Cha because I couldn't deal with what I knew was coming), ditto terminal illness
Just happy romcoms. I'm thinking things like Falling into Your Smile, Bromance, Secretary Kim, The Secret Life of My Secretary, Weight-lifting Fairy, My Perfect Match... Extremely low stakes, guaranteed happiness, tropes, most issues resolved within one episode and not dragged out, laugh-out-loud moments, ideally minimal love triangles and no 3rd act misunderstanding/break-up, swoonworthy men etc.etc. . I just started watching Fight for your Way but it's not doing it for me so far which is a shame. Their lives just seem a bit too difficult and miserable even if it gets better. I want fantasy! Historical is ok provided it's actually happy and doesn't turn half way through into a serious drama about politics and have an unexpected tragic ending!
I've watched Vincenzo, My Secret Terius, and Healer recently and I'm just craving more light-hearted(ish) spy/adventure/romance dramas. Not gritty, dark ones but ones with all the tropes of fake dating, trying to live a normal life while being a spy or some kind of hero and it being played for laughs, going undercover... that sort of thing. These are all awesome dramas - are there any more in that sort of genre?
Thank you so much! <3
btw my watchlist is up-to-date so you can see what I've already watched.
Chinese dramas: Go Go Squid - pseudo contract relationship agreement, but adorable cute, very funny and happy ending Perfect and Casual - contract marriage, but has a happy ending ;) Dating in the Kitchen - such a fun and adorable couple, happy ending ;)
Ah, thank you, Lou! Go Go Squid's been on my watch list for ages and I just watched the trailer for I Am Not A Robot and it looks adorable and I will check out the others too. Awesome! If anyone else has any other recs, keep them coming! :)
Thak you so much for your suggestions! I'm watching Perfect and Casual at the moment and it is exactly what the doctor ordered but I will check out the other suggestions too. :) I think these Chinese romcoms are what I'm in the mood for at the moment. Brain firmly switched off, fantasy mode engaged!!
