I'm watching Flight to You with my parents, which all of us are LOVING, and I want to get my parents as into Asian drama as I am, however, my parents only like watching dramas that give reasonable screen time to older characters (50 and above). They don't have to be the main characters, just something along the lines of Flight to You.

Also would appreciate if they're not explicit, or excessively dark. Light-hearted, or anything like Flight to You in tone? Happy ending would be greatly appreciated for my poor little heart!

Thank you so much in advance for your help! You have no idea of how much it means to me<3

My Father Is Strange - family drama. Four adult children live with their parents, who run a small cafe. Parents are late 50s, a very close and loving couple who have been together for decades. One day a fairly well-known actor shows up insisting that he is the dad's son from an earlier relationship. (There is an explanation, but not one that I saw coming.) Oh, yes ... despite the title, father isn't strange, just the situation.

I haven't finished it yet, but maybe I can suggest Dear My Friends. I enjoyed until the part I watched and I'm thinking of starting again. I remember it was heartwarming, touching etc.

Unstoppable High Kick is a sitcom. It is a long family drama with 30 minutes episodes. There are sequels but they are not related like the School series.

I also found an article like this, maybe it will be useful for you: https://kisskh.at/article/breaking-stereotypes-older-folks-in-dramaland

MCs are older actors/actresses

  • Dear My Friends - story of group of senior friends
  • Recipe for Farewell - story of a couple in their 40s going through journey of cancer
  • Navillera - story of finding and fighting to fulfil abandoned dreams at the twilight years

Weekend Family dramas would probably the way to go for side characters with ample screen time of older characters , like:

  • Life is Beautiful (2010)
  • Tonbi
  • Rikuo
  • Glorious Day
  • Love in sandstorm
