I'm not sure if this is the right place for it, but if not, let me know and I'll move it.
The Photo Sections are being made almost unusable for the more popular dramas with massive numbers of pics being posted. Fangs of Fortune has 11,000 pics! Not 11 hundred. 11 THOUSAND. It has almost 400 pages of photos! Others have one to two thousand pictures. It is very difficult and time consuming to find anything in such a pile of photos, as there is no search or tags or categories. You have go through page by page to look for a particular pic.
Grainy, sub-par quality pics are being posted. Pics from publicity, fan meets, screencaps, magazines, manga, fan art, articles, photo manipulations, memes, Reuters, behind the scenes, merchandise, individual stars non-drama photo shoots, and frame by frame shots showing a character turning their head. If all these are allowed, can we have required tags or specific galleries / categories for these different types of photos?
I've looked, but I can't find any rules for posting in the photos section of the dramas and movies. Given that you can report a photo for being Offensive or Spam, No Longer Relevant, Incorrect Information, Spoiler Alert, and Duplicates -- there must be some rules that have appeared somewhere, but I haven't found it posted or explained.
-Duplicates is pretty much being ignored, as the same pics are being posted repeatedly, cause most people don't look before posting, much less go through one or two thousand pics to see if it has been posted before.
-Spoiler Alert is definitely ignored, and I'm not sure how that can actually be handled.
-No Longer Relevant and Offensive are pretty much followed and not really a problem.
-Incorrect Information seems to cover mistakes, where something is posted in the wrong place, which also rarely happens.
-Spam. Arguably, part of the problem with massive posting could fall under this. I mean, frame by frame shots showing a character turning their head falls into this category, IMO, but I'm sure others would disagree. But that needs to clarified, otherwise it is entirely subjective.
I know reported photos do go through some sort of an approval to delete process. But that doesn't seem to be done consistently. For example, pages of fan art were deleted from the Lost You Forever Photos, but other photos of fan art were left. And fan art isn't one of the things that can be reported, so shouldn't be against the rules, right? So, how did it get reported?
Totally agree with everything mentioned. I believe it's getting worse and when some posters see others doing these things and I feel they are bending the rules because there seems to be no guidelines.
Perhaps there should be a separate photo gallery for those that simply enjoy posting their faves in the drama but put limits per poster so it keeps some from going over the top and smothering out all other smaller fandoms or lesser known actors out.
The other gallery is solely for the official drama promotion released. This helps posters visiting the drama page to choose.
Agree. It's not only hard to find specific photos but there are tons of photos in there too that I do not find matching, such as fan arts. They are related to the drama but do not show the drama itself. Same with filming ceremony. It's pretty much always the same and does only show a gathering of the cast with flowers, red envelopes, praying for a smooth production and taking photos.
I would like to have sections for Screenshots of the drama, Behind the scenes, Film ceremony at the beginning, official photos such as covers etc. to make it easier to find specific photos.
Or/and more stricter rules that forbid fan edits/fan arts, spam of various screenshots that show the same scene with only minor differences.
A filter to avoid duplicates would be great, but I'm not sure if this is technically possible.
I'm bumping this because the problem of unusable galleries filled with literally thousands of photos seems to be getting worse, and I haven't seen staff respond, even to say, "it can't be done."
I've tried reporting photos, but honestly, I feel like nothing happens, probably because it is low priority. And honestly, it probably is compared to dealing with spam and trolls and violations of TOS and threats and other things that are on fire here.
It's gotten to the point I'd volunteer to write the rules myself, if admin / staff would give me some guidance as to what isn't allowed.
Alternatively, could we get separate galleries or even required tags, so we can find photos?
I think a separate gallery for fans of certain actors would ease this issue, because many dramas are over shadowed by fervent fandoms causing no room for lesser actors within the drama to be seen in the photo gallery. There are cartoons, art work and even photos of actors from other dramas mixed inside. It makes the gallery almost unusable.

We are planning to upgrade the photos section, but there is no ETA yet. The rules are simple: no nudity, gore, or blood but the only exception is a poster. Spoilers or screenshots from the actual show are not allowed, except for official releases. We will implement an approval process for photos in the future.

Thank you for your reponse! I'm glad you are going to upgrade the Photos section, but sad to hear there's no ETA on it. Because as I've said before, the problem of unusable photo galleries seemed to be getting worse. And our ability to report is limited.
If those are the rules, then why was hundreds of fan art pictures (but not all of them) deleted from the Lost You Forever gallery? Is fan art allowed? Does that include fan club created posters using official stills? This doesn't seem to fall under any of the rules or categories for reporting.
Do reuters and paparazzi photos count as SPOILERS?
Do frame by frame shots showing a character turning their head count as screenshots? If so, how do I report them? Under SPAM?
How about screen shots of rumored casting? Or pictures of stars rumored to be cast? Is this INCORRECT INFO? SPAM?
How about pictures that have nothing to do with the drama but are of one of the stars from a photoshoot for something else? Is this INCORRECT INFO?
How about manga of the book that the drama is based on? Or anime that the drama is based on? Is that allowed? If not, should it be reported as INCORRECT INFO?
And are non-drama (non costume) new magazine shoots or variety shows or road shows-- all for publicity for the drama --or booting and wrapping pictures allowed? How about award pictures and daily stats from Mayoran or one of the other Chinese data companies?
Are you guys going to get more staff if you are going to approve photos? Cause it already takes several days for the text additions, the episode thumbnails, and the cover image. I can't imagine how long it will take to approve pictures when you have to go through thousands of photos on a single drama entry to see if it is a duplicate. I mean, I've reported duplicates and pictures that have nothing to do with the drama months ago, and they are still there. And I reported them with links to the duplicate photo!
May I suggest, instead of making an incredible amount of work for the already swamped, valiant approval staff, either clarify / limit the photo uploading rules, or add specific galleries for these pictures, or include a mandatory tag (similar to the NSFW check box) with the a limited number of choices on the upload page. If you don't check a tag, it won't upload. Of course, we'd need a way to sort by tags. But this way, some people can still upload wildly and the rest of us can still use the galleries.

Depend on the content and if its copyrighted or not.

Yes,

It's not related to the show, so yes, it should be reported.

Most of the time, users do not follow the rules, so we rely on user reports. However, we do receive a high volume of reports of nonsense stuff. We're not too strict about what can be uploaded, except for nudity, blood, gore, and copyrighted content. I'm sure this will change when we release the new version. We are changing how the approval process works by moving it to the community instead. We can look into the tags idea, but we won’t be able to work on it for now since we have other priorities.

YES! That's my point. Why is the ML actor's coffee endorsement photoshoot in the gallery a drama??? If I want to see what a supporting actor, or even a non-main lead character, looks like in costume, I have to go through thousands of pictures and hundreds of pages. It's ridiculous.
I would love to have galleries for actors on their profile pages, cause there are plenty of pictures that aren't drama specific. Of course, they would become unusable fairly rapidly also, without specific galleries or tags. That said, I don't think it would solve the problem for the HUGE photo galleries of some dramas. Some people are just excited and don't care, as I don't think they actually look at the gallery.
