i'm really annoyed by the people calling other homophobic because they don't like bl content, or every time they express themselves. i am talking because i have experienced this.

most (not all) of the audience of bl contents are women, especially the one so eager to their publication. lots of them are attracted to bl, not gl or straight love, but bl. someday, i've read a women say women do not attract her at all and that she wouldn't watch something with two of them because she felt nothing. she was also bored of straight love. a lot of women agree.

i am also a woman, i totally understand the fact that you could prefer bl over gl, because two handsome men is better than girls, since i'm into men. but i still do not like bl, there's no interest in watching boys getting in love for me, i don't relate, i don't get excited.

and when i say it, when i say i am disappointed that a drama is bl, some people just come and get offensive calling me homophobic. hey, i have the right to like it or not like it, to want to see it or not see it, to want a drama without it. you guys are worshipping bl as if you'd die living a day without whatever bl content it may be. so let people not be into bl.

you wish to have more bl dramas, i wish not... we are meant to disagree. we all have our own tastes. for example, many dramas with actors i like are an adaptation of a bl original work... and i don't appreciate it because the story is good, the actors too, but the romance i don't like it, i don't want it. it's not like romance is not an important factor in a story, you guys should understand. may it be subtle romance or not, i like it straight. i can only appreciate bromance, in a friendly/brotherly way, this really take my heart.

Also, not only related to bl, but i hate fanfics/edits

  • i hate fanfics about real life people (ex: actors, idols, or whatever).
  • i also hate fanfics about characters from an original work. even tho it is more morally acceptable since it is not humans but created characters, it's still as an impact on people wanting to stick to the original story but being forced to see people's fantasies on the internet/social medias, which they always bring up every second the character or the work is mentioned.

Some bl worshippers always think it is NECESSARY to write fanfics about everything, or just the comments under a video... it's kind of annoying, but i just don't pay attention.

worst case ever is Haikyuu (japanese manga)... i'm a big fan of the work but damn, i can't open my eyes a second without seeing bl fanarts, fanfics, comments, videos, edits. some of them are ok, but there are so many of them, and lots of them a bit too much. now, really, without overdoing it, it's stuck in my mind and for a moment it was very unpleasant. lots of bl fans are too much. but if i say i wish a certain drama was not bl, damn, the whole herd is after me...!

I support you and your explanation. A few years ago, a few members in a "typical" non-BL Thai drama forum topic demanded why I stated I do not like BL or look for BL in a "straight" drama. It seems those aggressive members must have left MDL, as your comment did not trigger any of their comments.

Thanks for sharing.

I SUPPORT YOU.  I thank you for your courage to write this post. Please, please, do not delete it. I hope you're not going to get too much hate for it, but I think it's important we can share our opinion as well, as unpopular as that is. Can we be friends 😄? It feels alone here to not be a bl-supporter.

Same here—my preference is a straight-up love story between a boy and a girl. As you already mentioned, I also enjoy elements of bromance and sismance in a friendly way, as they add depth to the story. I have no problem with people who enjoy BL; everyone has their own tastes. But once, I accidentally started watching the Hollywood movie Love, Simon. I didn’t know anything about the story, so I assumed it would be a straight love story. It turned out to be a BL movie, and after watching about 30 minutes, I felt really uncomfortable—it even stayed with me for days. Since then, I always read a quick summary before starting a show or movie.

This is a general statement, not aimed at any individual or group:

There should be room for everyone's opinion's to be shared and respected, especially without taking it personal and feeling offended, upset,...or worse by calling people names or labeling.

It's interesting cuz I've had a few times when watching straight dramas that I thought would make great BL dramas, since I enjoy both.

Neither of us is right or wrong, good or bad. 😊

thank you all for you kind answers. i thought i'd get hate but i'm happy i could express myself. and i'm glad to see i'm not alone too

That's fine by me, it all just depends on the reason but your reasoning doesn't seem homophobic to me

eh, this sounds kinda homophobic to me. i dont care if you or someonelse likes bl or not. but i dont want to see it, sounds kinda homophobic. what are you doing when you watch netflix, most shows have queer characters/couples in it. and so much more straight stuff is out there, so complaining when something is bl is kinda weird to me, just like saying you just can  appreciate it in a brotherly way. i also dont get super exited when i watch a purely straight show or about straight ships. i can still like them and appriciate the romance and have no problem with seeing it or get into the lovestory, if its a cute lovestory but thats just me.

eeh really? sounds to me like you only want YOUR opinion to be expressed and not others’ when it’s different. how is it that you “don’t want to see it”? i will tell the world i don’t like bl stuff, i find no interest in it, and if you’re not happy to read this, i really don’t care.

it’s not because there’s “less” bl stuff than straight that i can’t say i’m disappointed when a drama is bl. if a specific drama i want to watch is bl and it disappoints me because i’d love to have a straight romance in it, i can say it- no matter what it sounds like to you.

anyway, i already said everything i had to say in my post. if you get it- good. if you don’t- never mind. do your own thing, i’ll do mine :)
