Yeah I heard some of those things. And I don't care. You don't fine or imprison anyone for writing a fanfic or for writing danmei novels. This isn't the 1500s.

If you cannot support fanfic then say so but don't advocate for people to go to jail smh. Bad look on you. And I thought you were a good person on the forums.

And if I say I wrote an YiZhan fic myself then in your eyes I deserve jail? Be so fucking for real right now. You are a bad person. Evil.

Never feel like a good person. I live as I like. I'm good whenever I want, I'm bad whenever I want. I say whatever I want. It's just that I'm a bit of people pleaser, try to change it but never been able to.

You shouldn't do/support fanfics, it's harmful! I don't know how far people go while doing fanfics, but there's so many names in the world people can use. Why should people do fanfics? Pretty sure that's for the reason I mentioned above. It's for either traffic or money. So yes, fine is good (giving back to the government and society) and if it's causing harm, jail time could be one way to reflect. Even people who posted defamation comments online could face fine and jail time (but sometimes it's just a public apology), why can't people who make fiction using real persons as the characters be fined or jailed? If there's no penalty, it'll keep happening. And if it keeps happening; the actors, the original writers, a lot of people involves and maybe even the readers and the fans will suffer. When Xiao Zhan went on hiatus, who's being sad? He's gone for years. Isn't that sad? When a fine drama set to be filmed got cancelled, who's being sad? They don't even have another 2026 project being set as a replacement. (Eh maybe Peach and Me is that another project.) Isn't that sad? Does The Untamed's original IP writer's other works' censored adaptations ever see the light? I think they'll be shelved forever. Isn't that sad?

A friend of mine was an ARMY and she told me she read fanfics about the members (years ago). Do you know what the fanfics writer did? Making BL and reverse harem (include a girl group member). And I'm the one who's bad you said? Surely they never write 'any resemblance to real life persons and occasions are coincidental?' Never, because it's all intentional.

autumn iris:
Never, because it's all intentional.

Your English is bad too btw. I read BTS fanfics too, a while ago. BL and on one occasion a straight one. They were alright, some are even works of art. You're the problem. Jail time for autumn iris.

Stop replying. There's no redeeming you. You're evil. You're never good btw, you just pretend.

I'll report this thread.

Please distinguish between fanfiction as a whole and Real Person fiction ("RPF").

And I'd even go a step further: please distinguish between Real Person Fiction of living people and of dead people.

They are not the same.

Fanfiction has existed since people tell each other stories. What else is "Dragon Ball" but a fanfic of "Journey to the West"?

Real Person Fiction of Dead People has also existed for centuries -- what else are what we now consider myths and legends but tellings and re-tellings of a real person's life? And movies based on real stories, like the recent "Oppenheimer"? Fanfiction, basically.

Real Person Fiction of Living People Without Their Consent -- that's where things start to get questionable, because as the author, you'll infringe on their personality rights. The person in question can go after the writer, just as they could do with defamation posts -- but it's not the duty of a government to "regulate" every kind of fiction, just because some egotistical fools can't see the difference between fanfiction of a, well, fictional work and fiction of a real, living and breathing person.

And if there are fools who can't see the difference between an actor and the character they played, and mix up the fictional work and the actors -- well, that's on them.

In short:
Fanfic about "A Dog and a Plane"? Yes!
Fanfic about New and Tay? No.
Thinking a fanfic about "A Dog and a Plane" is about New and Tay? No!
And is the latter the author's problem? Of course not, it's on the reader.

That's a very misanthropic take.

I know more than a few fanfic writers personally. They do it for the joy of writing. For the love of the original work. For themselves, because it makes them happy.
If they didn't, they'd never write for small fandoms at all.

Actually, as soon as you make money off it, fanfiction does cross the line into plagiarism, and the original authors can legally do something about it. That's why the Archive of Our Own doesn't even allow authors to link to Ko-Fi or Patreon pages.
And if an author wants to make money later, just "filing off the serial number" (i.e. changing names) doesn't always work. It did for what then became "Fifty Shades of Grey", but not for all of them. For the newer issue of the project you mention, it's more complex -- because it involves Real Person Fiction -- made worse because it was RPF of a person, whose fandom had already lived through the fallout of a RPF fic. Had it simply been a fanfic of a random fictional work, the whole thing would likely have been a non-issue.

So, please don’t generalise, and please don’t accuse others of having malicious intent when the matter is much more nuanced.

@Saeng

Eh? Isn't real person fiction part of fanfiction? But if it's different then it's my bad. I assumed they're the same.

Ahaha, I knew I went too far. I was just so upset about many things related to real person fiction. And I was attacked personally in the first place just because that person didn't agree with my opinion. See that she also attacked my english above. Haha Won't quote since she asked me to stop replying to her.

Anyway I don't know much about fanfiction or real person fiction. It's just as you said (indirectly) that many readers are not wise. It's bad.

I don't know how I feel about Dragon Ball being Journey to the West's fanfiction. I search for it, and apparently according to google AI, Journey to the West is in public domain so there's no need to pay for copyright. Well, so yeah, okay. It's TMI, but I love Trunks btw. And I feel Son Go Ku and Sun Wu Kong are different. In my memory, Son Go Ku is kind without limit and a bit dumb. Sun Wu Kong is quite selfish with big ego and really naughty. My memory could be wrong though.

Definitely homophobic. I'm not calling you a slur or anything but your rejection of same sex love to the point of advocating censorship is homophobia.

If one doesn't like something they simply avoid it. Making your feelings public and with vehemence is called taking a stand again that thing. Anti. You are anti same sex love and there's a formal word for it. There, now you understand yourself better.

woman here, i am into men, and i like gls. i like gls so much more than bls lol. i have watched a handful bls, mostly because i come from anime manga background otaku culture, but they have never been as good as yuri content to me.

i said this early on, and a girl told i was fetishizing lesbians. i am a woman :)

you cannot win arguments with these brain dead ah people. you are right in every way.

bl content that exists globally are made for women by women, almost always have nothing to do with gay men. they are actually fetishizing them.

i would say, that you shouldnt "wish" for bl content to be less. gay people exist and they have every right to have their romance in art and media. but again these bl dramas and shitz are for straight women by straight women.

if you want to consume proper queer media, you should see the ones made by queer artists
