I got a message (no-reply) that one of my comments (part of it was included, but I have no idea on what drama page it appeared on and how long ago and to what I was actually replying etc) was deleted because of the reason "harrassment or personal attack". Since I don't remember (as I've said) what the discussion was about or who the OP was or what they actually wrote themselves... I am a bit confused here. So anyone can basically report anything they dislike, for whatever real or invented reason, and when the mods/admins eventually get to it, they decide based on that one comment that either/both/the whole thread is to be removed?... but all the commenter receives is the notice that the comment (unidentifiable) has been removed due to (cause). So they can't even check if the other (OP or answer) comments were removed too, or it's a case of "only one flagged, only one removed". Or, since the whole comment isn't included in the automated message, what is the actual cause for it to be flagged.
Even if the comment might not actually merit being removed? If it can't even be identified and has been already removed then what's to say it actually broke the rules or not?
I won't argue with the new manner of applying the policy, since TBH I am really not that invested into any/all kinds of comments (whatever, no comment is Shakespearean work). I just really, really wish that going on this WILL be enforced on all kinds of comments, not just whatever the team gets to (eventually) and/or unilaterally decides to remove/let it be. And maybe that some form would be found so that there is some transparency on how the flagging happened.
Anyway, thanks for the hard work, hopefully MDL will stick to this and clean up some of the actually vile comments and accounts spouting them so that the banning button might be of less use.
