-Aprillen-:

To the admins of MDL: Please leave your own personal opinions and preferences aside and be professional. Add GagaOoLala to your list of streaming services. They are a legitimate, professionally run streaming service with many, many films and series that are listed on this site, for some of them the only streaming service, but still we have to scroll through pages and pages of comments to see if someone has posted where to watch them. It makes absolutely no sense at all to not add them like all the other big ones.

exactly!

Yes, please add GagaOOlala as a provider! I've been an MDL subscriber for years and am very disappointed to learn about this fairly blatent discrimination. Please keep personal opinions out of it; this site should be for all. It would make things so much easier when trying to figure out where to watch many of the shows I'm interested in. GagaOOlala legally streams many shows that I can't find anywhere else (especially Japanese content). They even have original works. I keep a running subscription with them along with Viki and iQIYI.

I (and many other people, if you look through the public list of responses to the form) had already submitted GagaOOLala to MDL's Google Form provider-request list (as per the listed rules pinned in the streaming provider thread in this forum) MANY TIMES over the course of MULTIPLE YEARS now, but it still hasn't been done.  It's bizarre.  Devs really need to get on this...

Dear MDL folks:
Gagaoolala is a serious, legally licensed, widely used international subscription platform including a lot of content (especially Japanese BLs) not available on other legal international platforms.
I strongly urge you to recognise it.

Back in 2021/2022 (can't remember), when I cited GagaOOLala, a staff blatantly rejected my submissions cause they somehow thought Gaga is a 3rd party site smh

Users have been asking about adding GagaOOLala for a long time, but there hasn’t been a clear response yet from the MDL team. As it is an official and legal platform, including it would help reduce confusion about where to watch shows. Could the team please clarify why it hasn’t been added yet and whether there are plans to add it? There seems to be no reason for this issue to remain unresolved

I don't have this service because they don't do much with Thai GL (they seem to go to iQiyi and WeTV mostly), but I know them and have a good reputation among QL fans. And if the next faymay show goes to them I'll for sure get a subscription. They definitely need to be added to this platform.

Perhaps related to this Gagaoolala request...

I requested years ago that either BL or LGBTQ be added to the genre list - and I was told something to the effect of - we need to be careful because the owners are conservative.

no wonder why so much discrimination is around here.

LGBTQ and BL, in literature, movies and series is by definition a distinct "genre" - and has been recognized as such for decades.

GENRE: a category of artistic, musical, or literary composition characterized by a particular style, form, or content.

Further, it is used by all streaming services (Viki, iQiyi, etc,) as a genre to improve search.

Again, one must wonder if the exclusion of GagaOOlala is because it is a provider of LGBTQ/BL/GL content. Frankly, I just wish MDL would say why it hasn't been added - perhaps they have a very logical or contractual reason?

Since the tags are there it's already very easy to search for what specific type of romance one is looking for. I think it's smart to prioritize requests. Adding a service provider such as Gaga is much more helpful for users at this point than expanding MDL's genre categories.

Gagaoolala have even started an online petition, go and sign it:

Please allow me to clarify my previous point.

I did not comment to argue that MDL should add new genres. I did not state that I think their position is the result of prejudice or discrmination. I asked why, I got a response - and I did not argue the point. In fact, I was grateful to have received a response - again something to the effect of - we have to be careful because the owners are conservative.

I simply decided to share that exchange as a possible explanation for why GagaOOlala has not been added as a provider. I do not presume to know why - and as before I'd simply be grateful to know why. That, I think, would be helpful.

Ah, I see what you're saying. Yes, the not knowing for sure can lead to a bunch of thoughts, and no way to know how much truth to them there is or not. It's hard not to let frustration run with speculation (at least it is for me).

You are NEVER going to get an answer/explanation from the owners about anything pertaining to LGBT presence on MDL: films and series are in the database because the countries MDL covers produce them, but it stops there! For example, editorials about BLs are a strict NO-NO!  We've been asking for those forever. No luck...

No matter how much you ask or vote for it, GagaOOlala is NEVER going to be listed as a service provider. Maybe if you add some non LGBT content?.....
