Back again for recommendations. I am looking for a drama or movie that is historical. No supernatural elements if possible. I have not been able to get into Thai historicals because they are hard to find with English subtitles or have a hard time getting into the storyline. The shows or movie have to be available in Hulu/Disney+, Viki, Tubi, Netflix, Youtube or Dailymotion(only if they are not in any other mentioned).

No supernatural complicates this. Thais can put a ghost in anything <3

The Death of Khun Phra (there's a ghost but mostly it's a murder mystery; historical setting, mixes old and contemporary references) Thai PBS, free to stream, look on MDL page for direct link or search on their vipa.me streaming service for the title.

Do you count time travel as supernatural? I peeked at your Dropped list to get an idea of what you didn't get on with. For reference, I'm not a fan of Hidden Moon either. It felt like a badly convoluted knock-off of I Feel You Linger in the Air, which itself was more a woman's romantic fantasy set with young men in a historical period.

These two are also time travels, but feel very different to me.
From Chao Phraya to Irawadee (Thai PBS) Grounded in the reality of their 200 years ago world, but there's a lot of back and forth which might be disconcerting. Very much a love letter to the dance and arts of that period. For a taste, here's the OST.
Royal Doctor  (try bilibili) Fun, and mostly light. Time travel but no back and forth.
I felt like I learned a fair bit of history from both of these.

A Tale of Ylang Ylang - post WW2, no supernatural. The 1st half is very different in feel from the 2nd. (try bilibili. i watched via Ch3+, 1 month sub is US$3; 3 month less than US$5 until end of June)
To Sir, With Love (Khun Chaai) - (one31's YT), 1940s - there's some magic in it (use of herbs) but mostly it's family politics lakorn with excellent pacing and an emphasis on women's struggle to have agency and power in a period which limits it to their relationships with men. In keeping with that theme, western audiences tend to focus on the M-M romance rather than the women.

I know two historical dramas and a movie without supernatural elements that have been subbed.

For the "Watch a title with one of its couples both in real life and in fiction" prompt, does it matter if the couple is only in a few episodes?

The series in question is Caged Again, where real life couple Arm and Porsch play a very domestic couple. But they don't appear until half way through, are important in one episode and then now and again, briefly. So technically they're one of the couples, but more like the married uncles of the younger ones' found family.

I don't want to add it to the official list without making sure it follows the intents of the prompt. Those I've peeked at on the list are in main roles.

Sorry for my late reply. I lost quite some data on my computer and spent the last couple days trying to restore what I could.

As long as they appear as a couple in the drama, it's okay.

What you described sounds valid to me. This list was originally created by JustOneMoreEpisode if I remember correctly and she might have only used couples in main roles, but supporting characters are okay too as long as they are a real life couple as well. :)

Yikes. Such a nightmare. Wishing you better luck.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Yeah, the worst is my graphic editing folder. Basically every badge, banner or other graphic I've done is gone. I'm angry at myself for not having a backup of that. I can retrieve some from imgur, postimage etc but not all, especially no raws or project files. Ah well, I definitely learned from it though.

Oh no. Backing up is such an easy thing to not get around to.

Yeah. I'm checking my external hard drive now to see what I have there, maybe I can at least restore some stock files. The rest will be a long search at the original sources. Not impossible, just time consuming. 😅

Good luck with all of this.

Made a thread for anyone to talk about anything to do with Thai PBS, so it's in one place we can subscribe to and easily update others who are interested. Things like new subs, changes to the link format (though hopefully they're done with that for a while). Who knows, it might even encourage more to watch their programmes. Yes, I am an optimist :D

Here's the link. Please subscribe if you're interested and feel free to talk up your favourite titles.

Thank you. I'm working on it. 😆
