  • Cutie Pie

    101. Cutie Pie

    Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes

    8.5

Overall, I would say this is an 8/10.

It wasn't absolute perfection or some masterpiece. Several plot points were rushed and some things just didn't work. But it was sweet, had a nice message about being yourself with your partner, had a couple with great chemistry, and was something new and progressive for Thai Dramas.

The .5 is because they put their money where their mouth was. They didn't bring up Marriage Equality just once. Once they started they kept pushing it and pushing it.

I'm pretty sure this is only the second Thai Drama after Not Me to scream "Marriage Equality!"

  • Moonlight Chicken

    102. Moonlight Chicken

    Thai Drama - 2023, 8 episodes

    8.0

I loved how warm it looked and the overall atmosphere they created. However, unfortunately, the main couple didn't really work together as intended. To tell you the truth, I thought their chemistry was more suited for that of a close friendship than a romantic relationship. I felt like their backstories and other love interests were far more engaging than anything they had. Those aspects and the side characters carried this drama for me.

My one other big critique is related to GMMTV rather than Moonlight Chicken: The lack of subtitles when someone is signing. It kind of made sense in the beginning due to certain aspects of the story. But later on it was just ridiculous to not let the audience understand what was being said.

Overall, this was a pretty inviting drama. It's just too bad, as it could have been so much more.

  • Cherry Magic

    103. Cherry Magic

    Thai Drama - 2023, 12 episodes

    8.0

For a drama I started on a whim and had less than stellar expectations for, they somehow managed to make me fairly pleased by the end.

I didn't mind some of the changes they made, such as the humor being ramped up, the MLs having more physical intimacy, and there being less of an impact to the MLs relationship because of the nature of Achi's mind-reading powers.

But going from in the OG J-Drama (as well as the original source material) having the wonderful SFL Fujisaki being hesitantly open but clearly happy with being AroAce to now in this adaptation, Pai, a largely stereotypical Straight, avid BL fan who loudly ships guys together irl? It made me not only painfully sad but disappointed.

Why take such rare representation away? And not just take it away, but make said character one of the oldest stereotypes in Thai BLs? All I can think of is that the creators didn't understand and/or didn't WANT to understand/showcase an AroAce woman being happy without a partner and simply living her life enjoying her hobbies and spending time with coworkers and friends in a rom-com-style drama because, dammit, she needs a love interest, too!

Despite my "mini-rant," though, overall, I would—surprisingly—recommend this drama. Not over the Japanese adaptation, though. Never. You have to watch that one. It is mandatory!

  • Knock Knock, Boys!

    104. Knock Knock, Boys!

    Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes

    8.5

So ends my time with this raunchy rom-com style Thai BL.

I went back and forth with this one. Sometimes, it was just nonsensical and frustrating. Other times, it was bold and fun.

I do think it didn't need to be twelve episodes. But, you know what? I had a good time overall.

Side Note: The Pan rep? Damn good, if you ask me!

  • 23.5

    105. 23.5

    Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes

    8.0

Link to review because I had too much to say for the word count to handle: https://kisskh.at/profile/8835865/reviews/362551

The short version: 23.5 was a fun flurry of cuteness that managed to wonderfully capture teen love in school. It kept a light comedic tone and, while leaning into many tropes typical of teen Disney romances/Thai BLs, managed to stay fresh with an energetic tone, well-rounded and communicative leads, and unique side characters (need I talk about Aylin, our resident Alien who captured everyone's hearts?).

Even the main misunderstanding was executed better than many similar dramas. Instead of a dragged-out separation topped with assumptions and more misunderstandings, 23.5 pushed through it with heart, developed insight, and thoughtful conversations.

The final conflict is where I felt like this drama was pulled down from greatness.

A lack of awareness/regret and the drama's unwillingness/oversight in not calling out its characters is what kept me from finishing 23.5 on a high note. As it stands, I feel pleased as well as disappointed.

  • Dear Doctor, I'm Coming for Soul

    106. Dear Doctor, I'm Coming for Soul

    Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes

    8.0

Surprise, surprise, a Soul Reaper and a Doctor actually work very well together.

I loved the leads' dynamic! And it was quite grounded in that they had to keep circling their core issue; one is working to save lives, the other is coming to take them. This was also one of the rare times a past connection added depth for me rather than felt like the creators just not wanting to put in more effort.

I also enjoyed that they took their time building up Tua and Prakan's friendship, allowing them to patiently learn about/care for each other, before their feelings fully came into play.

Despite there being multiple reveals and "twists," I'd say they kept things simple and stuck to what mattered and would push the story forward. I felt like they respected my time.

All in all, a worthwhile watch.

Criticism: While I (for the most part) enjoyed the side characters, I could have done with less time with them.

    Thai Special - 2023, 4 episodes

    8.0

It's really just a short, fairly sweet addition to the original drama. At first, I wondered why this was made: For viewers to go through the marriage conflict again? But, now, I suspect it was to seal the deal about "putting their money where their mouth was" when it came to supporting marriage equality.

Side Note: I really liked how being fully conscious when giving consent was still a priority. Also, Nuer and Syn are just a delight to see together!

  • We Are

    108. We Are

    Thai Drama - 2024, 16 episodes

    8.0

There's nothing "substantial" here. Rather, it's meandering and pleasant, once you get past some off sound effects and rocky beginning episodes.

There's an overall easygoing sort of vibe to it.

If you like dramas with few conflicts or major events, you'll enjoy this.

  • Step by Step

    109. Step by Step

    Thai Drama - 2023, 12 episodes

    8.5

The chemistry was spot on! And I loved how they built things up with their relationship: First as a one-sided crush, then as boss and employee, then as soon-to-be-lovers, and finally, as lovers.

However, a big, however, Pat's seemingly minimal growth held this back from being more. And in theory, the final conflict and resolution work. In reality, it is stumbled over.

So ends my time with Step by Step.

Would I recommend it? Taking the drama as a whole, yes.

  • Enchanté

    110. Enchanté

    Thai Drama - 2022, 10 episodes

    7.5

I was going to give this an 8.5/10. But, that ending, that wasn't it.

Instead of talking about why I didn't like the turn it took, I want to talk about what I loved about this drama up until that point. Because I don't want the ending to ruin what was otherwise a great experience for me.

The chemistry was easy, and the build-up was really nice. I loved the friendly teasing moments that had where they would suddenly pause and it would quietly reveal something more.

At first, I was just watching this casually. But, up until the finale, I realized I actually enjoyed this drama a lot more than I first thought. And, not only that, I realized how different it was. Sure, this is a school romance. But, I can't think of many dramas where it was so obvious both leads were mutually pining for each other at the same time. It's either that one of them has to wear down the other's defenses and then they end up liking them, one of them liked the other first and the other only realized they felt the same way later, etc.

This was two people who kind of knew how the other felt but were just too scared to take the next step themself. This may seem crazy to people, but even if you're certain the person you like likes you back, you're still scared to take things further. Just, what if? What if they don't feel as deeply as I do? What if I'm too late? What if I can't get the words out?

Even if you're 99% sure the object of your affections returns your feelings, that 1% of doubt stops you cold.

I felt like this drama did a great job at expressing that. Also, Akk is just a sweetheart who deserves the world.

  • Friend Forever

    111. Friend Forever

    Thai Drama - 2020, 12 episodes

    7.5

I like the soundtrack. I must admit I accidentally saw the ending to this drama already, as well as a bunch of clips from it.

I knew I was going to like it. It's just that I knew it wasn't going to be anything particularly spectacular.

It took forever to find a place to watch the director's cut that has better subtitles and better video quality. If you're going to watch this you need to watch the director's cut. Things are less confusing with it and it adds more weight to certain scenes.

We got a lot more emotion than I thought we were going to get. While I pretty much enjoyed Tan and Oil's story, I found myself being much more intrigued by Tin and Sea. They have almost more chemistry and have a great amount of sweetness and tension to them.

My biggest criticism of this drama is Oil's meddling in Tan's family affairs too much, instances where he tries to assert far too much control over Tan, his lies, and when he pushes his own opinions and thoughts onto Tan almost forcefully.

Also, I wish we got more Tin and Sea. They stole the show.

  • Fish Upon the Sky

    112. Fish Upon the Sky

    Thai Drama - 2021, 12 episodes

    8.0

Often adorably cringey at times, but in the best way possible.

There was nothing truly revolutionary here, but there were a few interesting concepts and conversations that were had. As well as some attention given to subjects that are generally ignored or never addressed in romantic dramas. Such as low self-esteem, online bullying, anxiety, self-acceptance, invasion of privacy, peer pressure, and what it means to truly love someone.

I really liked the characters. I could already can see what two of the twists were going to be, but that didn't detract from my enjoyment of it.

Also, they dealt with cliffhangers in an interesting way and broke the fourth wall quite a bit, which is rather different. Plus they parodied the typical drama format and twisted expectations at times.

A very solid 8/10 in my opinion.

    116. Golden Blood

    Thai Drama - 2021, 8 episodes

    8.0

    Alright :)

The episode length was quite long, but I think they made it work.

The action can go from cheesy, to cool, to badly done in some ways. But, I found it enjoyable all the same.

The side couple stole the show during some episodes. I wasn't expecting them to be a couple at all but as soon as they started interacting more the chemistry became explosive. I also liked how the conflict with them didn't last too long and was resolved in a way that fit both of their personalities.

I still enjoyed Sun and Sky, but I felt like their conflict dragged on a bit longer than it needed to. I liked their dynamic though and found them quite fun.

As far as the father, I hate how easily he got away with his horrible actions just because he's Sky's dad. He kept claiming all his actions were because he cared for his son. But, really, he was just being possessive, and he was not expressing love in the way a good parent should/would.

I had a feeling this would be a solid 8/10 for me, which is what I ended up rating it.

  • Close Friend

    117. Close Friend

    Thai Drama - 2021, 6 episodes

    8.0

The only thing I was able to compare this to was Y-Destiny, except it was shorter and talked more about love itself in different forms. It doesn't measure up to Y-Destiny (though it does have a bit of a handicap given how each episode is half or less than half of Y-Destiny's episode run time), but it is by no means bad.

You kind of have to take this drama episode by episode, as unlike Y-Destiny, there is nothing to connect the different couples to each other. They exist in different worlds, time periods, and situations.

My personal favorite episodes were Episode 2, 5, and 6.

Basically, I liked the weirdest and most artistic episodes the most. Lol.

I think there is something for everyone here. If you don't like one episode, you'll probably like the next more.

Episode 5 was a real standout and got the highest score from me (9/10).

It was beautifully shot and wonderfully acted. It was the first episode to top the enjoyment I got from the cat episode (Episode 2).

It was so sweet and easy how their friendship developed. They used the limited time they had perfectly and maximized every second of it.

  • Hidden Love

    118. Hidden Love

    Thai Drama - 2021, 14 episodes

    7.5

I actually really enjoyed the horror aspect of this, surprisingly. It was pretty good.

20 episodes seemed like too much though (I found out later on it was actually 14). But, by the end of it, I think they would have done well to have had at least 15 episodes. That being said, I think the pacing was alright overall.

The flashbacks were SO good, and interesting! I was always looking forward to them every episode. I would say they were the best and most intriguing part of the show.

The supposed "main" couple we started off with in the first couple episodes really seemed like a red herring as they quickly faded into the background. It felt like they forgot they liked each other/were a couple every episode.

Win and Wit are much more intriguing  than the "main" couple. When it worked, I loved how they incorporated their flashbacks with the present and tied things together. They really made me feel and care about what happened to them and what was going to happen to them.

I swear though, basically everyone except Tha, Win, and Wit, could be really stupid sometimes. Just when it seemed like they realized what was going on, they would forget about it and then act surprised when they learned something "new."

I found myself getting continuously frustrated with the stupidity of some of the characters. Use your brain!

I had a feeling I would end up rating this a 7.5/10 by the end. I thought maybe it had the potential to be a 8/10, but because of some parts that appeared to be retconning some of the things that happened I couldn't justify that high a rating.

    Thai Drama - 2020, 14 episodes

    7.0

Personally, I'd first watch compilations/scenes of RamKing before I'd think to rewatch the series. My Engineer doesn't suck. It's just that the main couple (Bohn and Duen) taking up the majority of the screen-time doesn't hold my attention enough.

If I had to rate Ram and King's story, I'd give it a 10/10.

If I had to rate Mek and Boss's story, I'd give it a 9.5/10.

    Thai Drama - 2020, 12 episodes

    8.0

It was hard to get through the first episode due to the cringe. But, once I tackled that hurtle I started to see some of the appeal. This drama takes a bit to grow on you but once they reveal more about their characters and round them out you become attached. You'd think this would basically just be one giant comedy, but no. I was overwhelmed by my feelings many times while watching this. And while I understand the ending, I still feel cheated because of it.

I wouldn't rewatch the whole thing again, but there are definitely some scenes I will want to go back to in the future.

Almost all the relationships in this drama have one person who is a complete asshole. If not both people at least have major flaws or are horrible together.

Basically, this was about people who are terrible continuing to be terrible or becoming more terrible. It was kind of fun to see just how toxic and/or self-destructive these people could be though. Clearly, no one was completely innocent and a saint here. And, I liked that no one was framed in that way.

Overall, this was a fun and messy drama for me to enjoy :)

This had to be one of the strongest first episodes I've seen in a Thai Drama. And the FLs had mad chemistry. I found them believable and sweet as a couple, and I appreciated the small details here. The puzzles and figurines became iconic, emotional, and telling pieces. But I don't know; I just felt like my interest tapered off near the end. Maybe it was lacking drama? Weird thing to say, I know.

    127. This Love Doesn't Have Long Beans

    Thai Drama - 2024, 8 episodes

    8.0

My rating is generous, admittedly, but it's my honest rating. Hear me out!

Was this drama well thought out? No. Did the finale make any damn sense on paper or on the screen? No. Did the side couple's romantic storyline develop naturally? Not really.

But was it fun? Did I have fun?

Hell yeah, I did! It was STUPID FUN! From Plawan sniffing Chef Oab like a damn dog at every opportunity and both of them getting off on the scent of "oh-so-erotic" basil/each other constantly, to millionaire, tycoon-suit-wearing Methas becoming JJ's all-too-willing sugar daddy in like the span of a week though JJ doth protest but he really protests too much.

I recommend between your high-quality romances and thoughtful titles, you partake in this non-serious, turn-your-brain-off drama.

This drama, more often than not, was frustrating to no end and tested my patience. And I hoped they'd lean more into/explain the fantasy elements of it.

However, I cannot so easily dismiss the depth of its character's backgrounds, the tension and thrill from the FL's connection, and the overall entertainment it provided.

I got annoyed and complained, but I came back every week. And not just because I can't drop dramas for shit. There was something to My Marvellous Dream Is You. I wouldn't call it "Marvellous," but I wouldn't label it a failed project.

  • Bite Me

    129. Bite Me

    Thai Drama - 2021, 11 episodes

    8.0

Generally, I loved it. It's very slow-paced which a lot of people probably won't like, but some will. I will say I personally felt the last few episodes' length and thought they could have been half as long and worked better.

The lighting and quality of the production is very high, and it shows. I wasn't too sure what the budget for this was going to be so I was very relieved. This drama shows a lot of love for food with gorgeous and colorful shots of dishes. It's a bit like if you combined The Hundred-Foot Journey movie and Light On Me.

The main couple has pretty great chemistry and there is this sense of mutual respect and admiration for their skills in the kitchen. The romance is very subtle and relies on telling and lingering glances, coded dialogue, and heavy emotions.

The big "conflict" could have been built up a lot better but I still felt the emotional impact for the most part. Also, Aek's reasons for his struggle with his sexuality also could have been shown and built up a lot better. Those were my main complaints.

The side couple was too cute for this world and immediately had you rooting for them to end up together and absolutely loving life when they did. They are so sappy and sickly sweet together. Lol. I bet they will be writing each other long love poems when they're 80!

As for the side characters overall, they are very rich in that they actually have significant moments and you learn and care about them. So, well done there!

At its best this drama is very sweet, sentimental, and makes you feel like you're drinking a chai latte on a rainy day. My rating could have been higher if not for my issues stated above.

Regarding Representation: There was a surprise Bi or Pan SFL who was a fun character. Her scene wasn't iconic enough for me to put on my representation list but it was enough for me to make note of it and appreciate it.

    Thai Drama - 2024, 16 episodes

Surprisingly, this was quite a bit of fun. The wide cast of characters kept things interesting with their varied personalities and stories, and, to my surprise, somehow, they managed to balance out the time allotted between them all well.

I particularly loved the emphasis on the friendship of the FLs. It was interesting to see how they were once friends and, eventually, got back to being close again. They took different paths and have different careers and struggles now. How good that they can lean on each other, even just for comfort.

I enjoyed this thoughtful, as well as overdramatic, female-centric drama about friendship and school.

Honestly, I'm a bit stumped as to how to review this one. The first eight episodes or so: Close to perfection. Interesting concept, a good soundtrack, legitimately funny jokes, and a main couple with great chemistry, consent, and communication. What's not to like?

But then we hit the conflict-that-doesn't-conflict-right-because-it-feels-like-things-are-getting-messy/fucked up-just-for-the-sake-of-getting-messy/fucked up-stage, which is when things began to nosedive.

So, despite my—at times—love for this drama, I can't rightly say I'd recommend it or not recommend it.

The chemistry between the leads and even the side couple was undeniable, and I appreciated the way they approached intimacy scenes, the contrast between cool and warm tones, and the fantasy elements; however, the final conflict/resolution felt muddled and disjointed from the rest of the drama. I found myself doubting the sincerity of both Phu and Cir's words, thinking, "Surely, this can't be it? Surely, it's not solved this easily like this?"

Maybe if they had more time, they could have executed it better.

  • 133. Two Worlds

    Thai Drama - 2024, 10 episodes

The set-up was great and the pacing was consistent. However, convincingly switching Khram's partner (for me) proved challenging.

With just one episode, they made me utterly in love with Khram and Phupha's love story, and while I grew to see the romantic connection and chemistry between Khram and Thai, I found the build-up to their relationship to be lacking. Where was the foundation? Looking back, I still can't pinpoint the start of Khram's feelings or how/when Thai was able to separate his feelings from the late Khram to this new Khram from another world. I was able to get over it for the most part, but I'd be lying if I said I was able to push past it completely.

All in all, it's got good vibes and sweetness. If you like soulmate-type dramas, you'll probably enjoy this.

    Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes

    7.5

It truly breaks my heart to rate it this low. But I have to.

The description and character list may say Win and Team are the MLs, but more often than not they felt like a side couple in their own series! When the focus is on them there are some amazing moments, a lot of good moments, and admittedly some just-okay moments.

I suspect the creators behind this felt the main couple didn't have enough content in their story to carry the series. But, if that was the case, they should have just made it shorter! We didn't need three side couples eating up the screentime!!! *screams* Nope, I'm okay. I'm definitely okay. Not like I waited years for this. Breathe, Noir. Breathe. It's just a drama. IT. IS. JUST. A. DRAMA.

Moving on, Tul and Waan were a pretty decent side couple. I found myself getting invested at points.

Like others, I simply cannot fathom why this company put so much love and effort into 12% (highly recommend watching it by the way) but not into the incredibly hyped and much-awaited Between Us. It's such a wasted opportunity.

I wound up enjoying this one a lot more than I thought I would! While many times ridiculous, it had a surprising amount of depth. Love's determination and unconditional love, and Pat's veil of positivity, in particular, left marks on me.

Side Note: I will not get over Dean's ability to simply breathe and make people trip over themselves, falling for her.

For a sweet and silly GL, I'd recommend it.

Did these two FLs have magnetic chemistry and were a sheer delight to watch? Yes, absolutely! Their courting phase was nothing short of hilarious and relatable. But did the side characters and some events feel like needless filler? Also, yes.

I will note that credit where credit is due; they surprised me by not reaching for the easy misunderstanding at the cursed second to last episode.

    137. Summer Night

    Thai Drama - 2024, 10 episodes

I nearly didn't watch this, but just within the first episode, the character of White caught my interest. I found him a complex and sympathetic individual, trying to convince himself he's comfortable alone when trauma from his past is what was really holding him back from allowing himself/others to get close. And with each week, I grew more and more attached to everyone else in his new friend group. They all had such vibrancy, and while common for their age, well-portrayed struggles. Questioning your sexuality/not understanding your own feelings, feeling like you don't fit in, feeling left out from your friend group, hiding a crush on a friend, etc.

Lune and Star clicked so well with their shared hesitancy to let people fully know them; the build-up and fall-out from them lying to White was emotionally devastating, levity and oddly enough, rationality in the friend group was found through Jewel (along with some sweetness with his romance with Tan) in the middle of everything, and Sera, what should have been a wrench thrown into everything, was a surprisingly mature addition that only widened my view of Lune.

But then, they fumbled the bag. They did a complete 180 with Star and she became a possessive, controlling, and uncommunicative partner to Lune, guilt-tripping him, misunderstanding him, and refusing to see reason or listen. Lune, who has been hurt before and hurt others before, tells her he wants to be a better person and tells her specifically how he wants to do that, and what does she do? Give him a painful ultimatum and accept his apology while taking zero accountability herself.

I'm kind of disappointed in myself for getting attached and invested, only to be let down.

    Thai Drama - 2024, 10 episodes

    7.5

It was so nice to be presented with a concept that was truly fresh in Thai BLs! This had a whole lot of creativity and magic to it (despite the cheap effects) and was just plain cute.

Admittedly, I found the ending poorly wrapped up and wish they dove more into the predator and prey dynamic between the leads. But for the unserious time they promised, I think they delivered.

It's got uniquely odd humor similar to "1000 Years Old" and "Knock Knock, Boys," where it goes for alien-level out-there jokes as well as basic puns, entertains dead space, and leans on sound effects and low-reaction facial expressions to ridiculous situations to get a chuckle out of you.

If, after the first episode, you're not vibing with it, it's just not your cup of tea. It was mine, though, for the most part.

Hope Wayo's story is better than it was in Gen Y. Seems like it will be.

    Update after completion:

At first, I was doubtful I would enjoy this drama as much as I did. The first few episodes felt quite basic and I didn't see what the big deal was about Wayo and Pha. However, their chemistry didn't take long to improve and I found myself reminded of the naturalness present in Nitiman.

Pha started out much too cold for my taste but actually turned out to be a lot more caring and nicer than I thought. I could easily buy that he does care about Wayo. There were these stray lines here and there before he started being openly sweet that showed how he was showing his affection in small and secret ways for Wayo. I only wish they had included some of these short scenes instead of just talking about them.

Ming was also such an awesome best friend. And it seemed like his character may not only be Bisexual in this series but the second one as well (from what my friend has told me, I'll find out for myself soon though). In this one he seemed primarily attracted to women but was very open to men. In 2 Moons I think he may be Bi (or at least I'm leaning that way), but I'm a bit torn between calling him that or Pan.

Critiquing the drama as a whole, there were a few lines and occasional stereotypes I took issue with (calling the guy they like their "wife," etc.) but luckily there weren't too many of them. This is one of those Thai BL Dramas that hasn't aged badly while so much progress has been made.

  • 2 Moons 2

    141. 2 Moons 2

    Thai Drama - 2019, 12 episodes

    7.5

There are strengths and weaknesses when comparing this to 2 Moons. I think what will also affect your impression is if you see this or see 2 Moons first. One main reason being that the first few episodes retell the same story and then they proceed to add more things to the characters and new plotlines and scenes.

When it was just redoing the same scenes as the original I didn't find them to be as good in comparison. When they made the story their own and made twists to the characters, etc, I found it much more enjoyable and compelling.

Ming and Kit had more mutual chemistry here. However, if you compare them in Gen Y they blow 2 Moons 2 out of the water there. I understand that isn't really a fair comparison though.

I did also quite like how we got to see much more of Wayo and Pha after they got into a relationship rather than before. On the flip side, I did miss the more fun friendship chemistry between Ming and Wayo, sadly it just wasn't as strong here.

I will add that I did find all of the couples' conversations more mature at many points, and enjoyed having Forth and Beam as a couple.

Lastly, I wouldn't be reviewing this right if I didn't bring up my distaste for the constant use of "wife" and "wifey" jokes in this drama. 2 Moons had very little in comparison and they didn't feel so intentionally included so as to continue with the stereotype that in a Gay relationship there is someone who takes the "husband" role and someone who takes the "wife" role.

As far as representation, Ming's Bisexuality (or Pansexuality but I'm leaning toward Bi) was less obvious here which was disappointing. Still seemed Bi but you had to look for it more than in the original.

    Thai Drama - 2021, 16 episodes

I quite enjoyed Friend Zone and Friend Zone 2. This was just as adult, messy, and intentionally toxic, just with violence and murder sprinkled in. The acting from most of the cast was amazing! They put their hearts into their performances. Pitch, Giwi, and Matt in particular were done to perfection.

It did delve into some important topics like Biphobia, consent, and manipulation of one's partner. But, the biggest problem was that the FL was mostly unlikable. Despite supposedly being the heroine of this drama, Mim was actually a horrible and manipulative person. A victim, yes. But, also a perpetrator. She wasn't as bad as The Player, but certainly went down to their level. I was pissed she wasn't called out more/at all for the things she did. I sympathized more with some occasionally problematic characters than her.

As far as consent, there was a great moment early on that left me giving it an appreciative nod. I didn't expect it in this drama.

Overall, I was at times impressed and enthralled and at times disappointed. But, I don't regret giving this a shot.

Regarding Representation: There was a likely Pansexual SML as well as a Bisexual ML. About the Bi rep specifically, there Was cheating. But, I still think this was a good watch and a win for Bi rep. If not just for the sheer number of times the word Bi and Bisexual was used. I've never seen a drama use the word so many times! I was shocked. I mean, you'd think dramas with Bi leads are afraid of the word/don't know the word exists!

I think I'll put it here.

I wasn't sold right off the bat. This took a bit to grow on me and for the main couple to have chemistry. The side couple had more tension at first and was intriguing to me as those actors hadn't been put in a series together before.

Overall, this was light-hearted and not very serious. Some revealing conversations, symbolism, and particular scenes stood out, but in general it didn't speak to me as a unique drama. It was fun to pass the time though and I'm glad to have seen it.

This was better-acted than I thought. However, as soon as the time skip happens, the main couple fails to hold my attention. Folk and Pure steal the show.

Also, thinking back, Pure and Waan were much more interesting in the flashback scenes. And despite not becoming a couple, they had more chemistry than Itt and Pai did.

When we flash forward to the present, Pure and Folk, and Waan and Beau are much more interesting to follow, as couples and as characters. When they got less story and screen time the last two episodes, I was struggling to finish it.

I'm not going to lie, for the first time, I felt the need to skip ahead a few seconds during scenes. It just felt slow-paced during the last few episodes, and there were many times I found the word "Bored" popping into my mind.

Certainly not my favorite Thai drama, but generally enjoyable.

The ML was very genuine and kind but needed to grow a backbone. Luckily, he did. Lol. The FL was fairly fun but sometimes too mean-spirited and impulsive for my taste.

I didn't mind that the romance came so late or most of the campy humor. That being said, I think 18 episodes was a bit too long.

Also the Trans rep was disappointing, especially as I grew to love the actress for her serious role in 3 Will Be Free.

We have an in real life Gay couple acting in this!!! Who would have thought we would get this in a Thai drama? I'm so happy for them! And I'm even more happy to see this kind of progress in the world of  BL dramas. I kind of just realized I knew about Newyear today. I'd seen I Am Your King recently and really enjoyed it despite some of it's flaws. The acting was really natural.

And to find out that he and Both are an out couple online (with their own YouTube channel) starring in this is just even more fantastic! BL dramas are really taking new strides this year. Congratulations to Both and Newyear (also from what I've heard they've been together for 9 years, that's just amazing)! And as for us, let's celebrate progress!

    Update after completion:

I really enjoyed my time with this drama. It was all-around pleasant and comforting. And I think it was cool that they put some deleted and behind the scenes clips at the end of each episode. There was a lot of heart put into this drama and contained in this drama. I was a bit disappointed by the ending sadly, but it didn't destroy my overall experience.

The acting ranged from okay to really great, some metaphors amazed me, some speeches were really moving and some were just cheesy, and some characters developed well while others didn't. My more honest rating is a 7/10. But, because of some aspects that impressed me, I'm giving it a 7.5/10.

Can't wait to see what happens to the previous potential side couple! I'm so excited!

    Update after completion:

Alriiiight! Bas and Marco had great chemistry! The conflict between them at one point didn't seem to make much sense at first, but they pulled it together.

Maybe because I now quite liked the characters and felt for them, I enjoyed this second season more than the first. Probably has to do with Bas' story having a lot more depth to it than James or Ait's. Marco's personality was shown a lot more here as well, along with some good character development.

James and Ait were alright here but there were times I felt like they were interrupting the more important aspects of the drama.

I should also add that there was some really interesting symbolism I almost missed that turned out to be incredibly moving and meaningful.

The ending satisfied me in some ways but also disappointed me in others. All in all I'm giving it a 7/10. It took the aspects from the first season I liked and incorporated them more. I only wish they gave the main couple even MORE screen time, they definitely could have delivered something even better.

It was difficult to figure out what to rate this. I think it's between a 6.5/10 and a 7/10.

While I enjoyed the way math was incorporated into this story and in the metaphors and I felt the sincerity the actors conveyed through their acting of the lines, I think the length of this drama was actually too long.

I believe if at least half an hour or forty-five minutes had been trimmed from this it would have flowed much better. The lines were good but at times it felt like the conflict was dragged out for far too long.

I think five episodes would have worked better than six. That being said, I enjoyed my time watching this. There were just a few points where I thought a misunderstanding could have been solved much faster.

Regarding representation, unfortunately the Bi ML, Jean, played into the cheating stereotype. He's a villain though so I'm not as salty about it as I would normally be. But, not gonna lie, still a bit salty.

I would recommend the original Japanese movie over this. But, I'm not saying this was a terrible drama. Just that when it came to some of the humor and more serious moments it couldn't quite deliver. It was light-hearted and easy though and when the jokes landed it made me laugh.

In short, it was all kinds of ridiculous and just plain stupid, with only rare moments of solid acting and moving pieces of dialogue and side characters (Tonkla!!!) allowed to shine through. Still, simultaneously, BECAUSE of everything wrong with it, it was fun! Or, at least, I had fun or was able to FIND ways to have fun watching it.

The finale to this Twilight but make it Gay drama A.K.A. My Golden Blood was a fitting, cheesy cringe-fest. And including the MLs hanging upside down from a CGI Eiffel Tower like bats and sharing a kiss? Simply the cherry on top of it all!

Do I recommend it for a quality romance or an investing story? Hell no! But for a one-time, brain-vacation watch for shits and giggles? Why not?

First off, my rating is a lie. It's actually a 6.5/10 for me. But because it's a Thai GL, and I want to see more of them, I don't have the heart to rate it any lower.

    Now, as for my thoughts:

In the beginning, it had everything I wanted: A Pan FL, easy chemistry between the two FLs, a love triangle, and ALL the tropes that come with a Queer Thai Engineer series. Like, yes, give me tripping on air and getting dramatically saved by the FL's soon-to-be love interest, who holds her for a suspiciously long time!

But then, near the halfway point, my perspective shifted. While I liked that the conflicts were—so far—minimal/easily resolved, I felt they could have done well with extending the do they like each other/pining phase. It felt almost "too easy" for these FLs.

This problem would come back to bite the drama later during the last few episodes when conflict after conflict and misunderstanding after misunderstanding popped up. It seemed like the writers intentionally made Manaow and Gyoza's start to their relationship so easy and sweet so they could put them through the wringer at the end while banking on all their good times together to get you through it. Unfortunately, it did not work. At all. And don't even get me started on the horrible villain and her scheme and the nail-in-the-coffin trope that had no reason to be there.

By the end, I was just . . . *sigh*

It saddens me to say this, but I would skip this one, my dear MDLers. It's just not worth your time.

Did my attention get snatched? Sure. But only because while I was hoping for more, I had these two sweethearts to get me through.

Ultimately, the direction of this drama let it down. It was absolutely ridiculous, and not in a good way. It was like they wanted all the love triangles, mess, and shit-storms but had no idea how to execute it!

A prime example of what got repeated to death: Someone would waltz into a room, talk a big game like they had done or were going to do something big, then when the big reveal or moment came, they hadn't done shit! One guy came in like just before things ended, seemingly about to stir the pot, only to basically sit in a corner, sipping red wine, going, "Oh, things are about to get messy! I am so important. Can't you tell how important I am?" The entire time! Like, why were you here?!

I wanted drama, dammit! And when someone finally did pull something, there was NO build-up! Every twist was presented in the most boring way possible. Like, add a bit of spice, would you?

Don't even get me started on Pitch and Gun because they were such a wasted opportunity! If there's two things I can't stand, it's:

     #1) A bad drama that's also boring

    And

    #2) Wasted potential

I don't recommend it. Skim through it for Weyha and Wayu, or just go watch Friend Zone 2 because that shit was actually messy and fun!

Note: Let me tell you, though, I am sorely tempted to take .5 off simply because the constant "Khun Dad" made me cringe. Like, at that point, just buckle down and call him "Daddy." But 6.5/10 just feels kind of too harsh. Who knows, though? Maybe I'm just in a giving mood today!

I am as surprised as you that I genuinely enjoyed this. Not fully (mind you), but genuinely.

When I first got a whiff of this drama, I simply noped out of it because Big Dragon left a rancid taste in my mouth, and I was skeptical, to say the least, that this pairing would find themselves in a quality production. But then, an MDLer taunted me, and I had to watch it!

And you know what? It wasn't bad. Not bad at all.

I found the silly way the main couple met, casually talked, and hesitantly started a relationship downright charming. And the careful approach and excitement at the progression of their relationship were sweet. The side couples were cute, too. Plus, can we talk about the consent? Yes, please!

But the fantasy aspect? That was the big let-down. I was left gasping for a drop of it in a Sahara desert full of montages of designing jewelry, bland villains, and bathing scenes. It was like the drama forgot its premise every episode and so threw in just one teaser/scene related to it, but they were all disjointed/poorly explained. By the end, I was left shrugging because I guess it wasn't that important, at least to the drama. Personally, I would have killed for the soulmate trope to be fully embraced here.

Not a drama I would go out of my way to recommend or likely watch again, but not a blight on my completed list.

A very blunt showing of how controlling, dark, and upsetting the Bl industry can be.

From the first episode, there are many upfront lines about problematic/bad practices that are simply accepted as normal or to be dealt with.

Not too many light-hearted moments. But, that's not the point of this drama. Not as good as Lovely Writer, of course. But, an interesting and engaging watch none the less.

The chemistry between the main couple didn't really appear until episode 2, but that was okay.

Marco and Bas, despite being more like supporting characters, managed to steal my attention at many points, especially during the last couple of episodes. I have no doubt they will go on to have a great relationship, whether it be romantic or just as friends.

The start of this wasn't bad. The chemistry was there and them going for "wacky rom-com featuring a 'bumbling idiot'" was kind of interesting as it mirrored similar US shows/movies.

However, throughout my time watching this, I kept bouncing back and forth between:

A.) Liking the lack of angst and being just amused enough.

    And:

    B.) Being bored.

Then, as it got closer and closer to the finale, they began to recycle the same conflict over and over and over again. Eventually, watching A Boss And A Babe felt more like a chore than a fun pastime.

This just goes to show that good chemistry and intimate scenes can't cover up a sub-par script and bad directing.

When I tell you, I feel terrible rating it this low!

The premise itself is fine, but what's really a pity is that they could have made this truly meta. If they had leaned into 4th wall breaks and dared to play with reality, this story about writing a story within a story could have been both unique and hilarious. But, as it stands, I found myself scratching my head at the choices they made and, worse, bored.

What's sad is that I know these leads have chemistry together, and, sometimes, it got to shine through, but it was struggling to break through the bad writing and side stories that made little sense and got in the way.

Other than the mushroom trip, this drama will quickly fade from consciousness.

The chemistry between Phun and Noh was quite good. If I were basing my rating just off their relationship alone and ignored all other aspects of this drama I would rate it a 7/10 or 7.5/10. They were the respite and light while watching this.

However, I can't give it that higher rating as a whole in good conscience. Why? Well, it's definitely very outdated, even in Thai BL terms, when it comes to acceptance of LGBT+ people. The jokes and stereotypes are really bad and generally constant. There were a few moments where I saw hints of progress (such as defending the cheerleaders) that would be the beginnings of good representation but there were still a lot of demeaning and offensive comments (such as "wife" and "girlfriend" being used when referring to a boy in a joking way).

After Lovely Writer it's even harder for me to ignore (or try to ignore) the putdowns of overly effeminate characters/Gay people as well as extreme and annoying shipping of two boys together by an obsessed "fan" (generally female) and the "wife" label when referring to a boy in a relationship with another boy.

The leads were great (sadly almost all supporting characters were annoying and unlikeable), but I can't say much else for this drama except to acknowledge that it was indeed a stepping stone to much better productions.

I guess I'll put it here.

    *Sighhhhh* I'm disappointed.

Was not a fan of the fifteen-minute recap of Part 1. Annoyed me if I'm honest. I already remembered what happened and just what wanted to see what was going to happen next. And if I needed a refresher I could have just rewatched Part 1 or skimmed over it, which I did.

Now, aside from that, the first few episodes were pretty well done. But, things quickly got off track. There was an unnecessary side couple added, they completely erased Peat's depression, Valen became unlikeable due to jealousy and an inability to listen, and Nont's character ended up just existing to be miserable and nothing else. And the ending was just . . . What was that?

Love Area Part 1 was like lighting in a bottle for me. It was something that unexpectedly succeeded in my book. It embraced its simplicity and focused on the emotions of the characters to make it memorable. It made me feel... In love.

    This did not.

    Where to start?

    The positives:

#1.) The rep is not only varied but well done: We got a Trans SFL, a Nonbinary SL, a Queer SFL, a Lesbian SFL, and two Gay SMLs.

#2.) There are encouraged and detailed discussions about sex: education, positivity, protection, testing, pregnancy, positions, kinks, etc.

#3.) There are pro-body positivity, anti-outing, and feminist messages.

    The negatives:

#1.) Non-con is not addressed properly, and there are inconsistent discussions about consent.

    #2.) Alex.

#3.) Sometimes a good message comes across as preachy rather than genuine.

Overall this had the feel of a raunchy American TV Show, albeit with more education and not as explicit scenes. If that one scene/plot point didn't exist (if you've watched this, you know which one I mean), I would be rating this a 7.5/10; however, because that is in this drama, I cannot rate it that high in good conscious.

Time to actually watch the whole thing all the way through without skipping.

    Update after completion:

It's far cringier than I remember! Jeez! Also, there is SO much homophobia and blatant Forceful pushing of heterosexuality.

There were a couple parts I found moving or relatable, as well as some legitimately funny moments. And one great quote: "It's better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not."

But, the best parts/truly fun parts of this drama generally came from the side characters instead of the main couple. And the side couple (Ai and Ni) is much more fun than the main couple. Plus I can't stand that Ton (Tonhon) seems to only be accepting of his friends being Gay, but also not quite.

All in all this drama is a weird mix of terrible tropes and stereotypes while at the same time trying to push the message of acceptance that just doesn't work.

Side Note: I eventually resorted to watching this on 2x speed at times, that should tell you how cringey this was.

No magic translating earbuds or conveniences in sight! Sangmin understood a fair amount of Thai, and Dinneaw understood a tiny bit of Korean. It worked!

But, God, did this oh-so-quickly give me major tonal whiplash. One moment it was super sweet, and the next, it was uncharacteristically crass and, to put it plainly, SO horny.

To paint a picture for you: one moment, two side characters are finally addressing their feelings; the next, they're in nothing but their underwear, and the camera is too comfy.

I can't think of anything else positive to say. Oh! Well, there was a brief side Lesbian couple! Yeah . . . That's all I got ?‍ *shrugs*

There were itty bitty teensy tiny pieces of a somewhat good drama that could have been. I feel like the writers and directors were really indecisive. They couldn't decide whether to have their characters be toxic and mysterious or sweet and silly. Like, you can have some of both but you have to do it well! Seems like they just couldn't make up their minds let alone execute their vision properly.

And the writing . . . It was just bad.

Another thing, I have to be honest, for the majority of the runtime the acting of the leads . . . Sucked. I generally put the onus on the director[s] for not directing them correctly. But even if they had I still think these actors just didn't know what to do with their faces or hands most of the time.
