What I'm Watching Possibly Right As You're Reading This

Okay, how do I explain my experience with this?

It's kind of giving 2010s supernatural CW show, but in like the best way. You get me?

I liked how they looped in every lead and their future love interest, splitting the time evenly, especially the one-take shot in The Crow Club. It felt like a very good, flowing opening scene in a stage play. I was impressed. And how distinct and clean, yet not overly polished, the lighting, framing, and camera cuts are.

Also, chemistry is already chemistrying for all four pairs for me!

They packed a lot of background and hints of things to come in just this first episode!

I think it was an interesting choice to simultaneously show the front-facing view of the pitch of these dramas coming down the pipeline and practiced lines/poses/fanservice of its stars sure to get their fans excited and keep them devoted, along with the behind-the-scenes, and less glamorous/natural aspects; the infighting between fans, rush for cheap merch, toxic solo stanning, hidden rivalry/tension between actors, and pressure to push a believable, popular narrative in order to make numbers A.K.A. trend.

I'm sure this will comment on the industry while also playing into it.

As for the actors, I was excited to see what Save and Auau could do after the promise they showed in Your Sky. And, in my opinion, the bathroom scene alone in this first episode showed they have what it takes to keep you engaged in a scene with minimal material.

I also have to say, my goodness, is it nice to see James in a main role again! He's already selling me on how Nine puts on a nice act for the fans, cameras, and people on set, playing into this charming golden-boy persona.

All in all, it's a strong start to such an anticipated series!

It is fantastic! It's steamy attraction at first sight!

The set-up is perfect, the cinematography is gorgeous, and you already KNOW the chemistry is out of this world because it's got WilliamEst!!!

If you aren't watching this, I'm judging you!

From the first shot of this drama, you know you're in for love and pain.

We forget that Romeo and Juliet is a story of a love that burns bright for a short while, only to ultimately end tragically for the pair.

Maybe Juliet & Juliet A.K.A. Tokyo & Blue won't meet the same sad end, but at the very least, we know their families will do anything they can to tear them apart and hurt the children they ought to cherish.

I thought the introduction of both leads and the setup of their struggles, future family conflicts, and growing feelings were handled very well.

The cinematography is also stunning! I was in awe of many shots/scenes.

It's giving Queendom meets ClaireBell, which, if you know anything about my thoughts on those two dramas, you'd know they're quality!

I feel safe letting myself be excited!

I liked how they approached what's to come with Anda. Thrown from the dark present to the past, as a viewer, you're left picking apart Anda's smile in front of his fans, looking for a suspicious/menacing face in the crowd.

I also think it was a smart choice to spend so much quality time in this first episode setting up our friend trio of Podduang, Dunk, and Bumm. You feel how truly tight-knit yet fragile their bond is, with feelings threatening to tear them apart.

Dunk is such a refreshing character to me because normally, as the crush for our ML, he would be played as completely oblivious or so over-the-top with his affection you'd think he was being intentionally cruel by being so kind. But no, he simply comes across as someone emotionally open, who dotes on/cares for those in his inner circle.

Meanwhile, Podduang can't help his feelings showing on his face and with his actions. Staring too long and with too much fondness, wanting to give the best things to Dunk.

I'm also quite surprised but actually enjoying how very thin it may as well be transparent the "enemies" line is with Podduang and Jinna. Someone who considers someone their "enemy" doesn't let them sit next to them, have a casual convo, and apologize for bumping into them.

They're less enemies and more tense acquaintances simply because of Podduang's pettiness. Lol.

All in all, I'm still interested to see where this goes!

Pretty good so far! It's reminding me a bit of Marry My Dead Body.

There's kind of not much to go off of from the first episode, since it mainly sets everything up with the personalities of the two officers and the sham marriage to ward off bad luck. But I will say that the humor and cheesy, flirty lines are both hitting well for me, and I like how colorful everything is!

We'll just have to see how it progresses from here!

First off, the opening scene AND the intro are incredible!!!

The intro doesn't just have style and a catchy song: It's all opulence, desire, calculation, and desperation. Exactly what we're in for with Fool In Love! Perfectly executed! No notes!

It's very rare I find myself engaged in a meeting, let alone one introducing a lead as someone high up/important, where the dialogue is often either dry and/or meaningless business jargon framed to make the lead "sound" smart. But here, I was becoming as convinced by Ing's pitch as everyone else listening to him. THAT is good writing!

Speaking of Ing, he is not just a well-dressed looker but quite the smooth talker. He has a great sense for weaving his way through a conversation so that he comes out on top/gets what he wants from it.

As for Yok, he's not just talented and considerate but sees through bullshit. He's not someone you can play easily. And while he appears "innocent," you can already see the indications that he's not as innocent as he appears to be . .

It's actually rather interesting, the tangled, strange dynamic they have. But God, am I upset by the use of AI in the intro!

Not too much to say for now, except that the action is pretty good, the ML is delightfully eccentric, and our FL-disguised-as-a-guy is very much convincing.

I'm sat!

To Write Review For

This is the kind of supernatural drama I like to see. Mainly grounded but still otherworldly. Giving you just enough but not spoon-feeding everything to you. I had to consider the powers for myself, their scale and visibility.

I like the way they're dropping us into the characters' senses, too. The tingling offness, spikes in adrenaline, and quiet surety.

The music is taking away rather than adding to scenes for me, though.

As for the two MLs' blossoming relationship, have you ever seen subtle chemistry? Like, really good, easy, subtle chemistry? Because these two had it from the start!

James waltzed in with this too-good-for-you air to him, dismissing everyone until he heard tell of the dedicated man who occupied the empty desk across from his, someone finally worth his time. By the time he came face to face with Ken and was subsequently pinned down and pushed out by him, I could tell that beneath his cockyness and demands lay some real admiration and fascination.

And Ken, while being dismissive and giving away very little, carries himself in such a coldly purposeful manner as to make every action of his feel intentional. Thus, the smallest bit of leeway or attention carries a deeper meaning. Side Note: I'm really enjoying the way Tongtong is playing this character!

And the tension is tensioning through their eyes and lingering presence. Leaning just a little closer to whisper or conveniently look past the other at something, initiating a high-intensity stare-down/refusing to break eye contact for anything.

I feel that if they continue taking their time as they are, the mystery and the romance will both progress naturally.

So far, so good!

I get that he doesn't seem to have any proof yet that he was forcibly drugged. But it just bothers me so much that he isn't telling his fellow officers what happened. Because he just looks SUPER guilty this way.
