2025 watched dramas
After a drought in 2024, 2025 kicked off pretty strong imo, with My Dearest Nemesis and Filter being surprising hits in my eyes. However, there have also been some huge disappointments, especially with the dramas I looked forward to the most (Melo Movie, First Frost, Undercover High School).

1. When the Phone Rings
Korean Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
Loved the start, enjoyed the beginning, and will try to forget everything about the last 2 eps. Nonetheless, it was a wild ride that I will remember fondly for the incredible chemistry between the two leads.
-
2. Blossom
Chinese Drama - 2024, 34 episodes
Contrary to most people, I actually enjoyed second half of the show more than the first lol. The show was solid, kept me engaged and the romance and chemistry was nice. Could have used more of a punch tho.

3. Love Scout
Korean Drama - 2025, 12 episodes
Even though the first episode tried to realistically portray a character of a struggling single father, the next eps turned him into a flawless person who manages doing overtime (including carpentry), taking care of his daughter and their house, and even dating. I stayed for the second couple, which was unfortunately underdeveloped. Easy to watch, but a waste of a great setting.

4. Call It Love
Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes
Selfish people all around, except for our ML.
-
5. Melo Movie
Korean Drama - 2025, 10 episodes
Biggest disappointment of 2025 so far. I hated all of the main leads. There was no bond between those three so-called "friends". All of them are just focused on their own struggles, and don't share one meaningful moment. The romance was also very subpar, and there was no communication at all. You'll be better off just rewatching Our Beloved Summer.

6. The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call
Korean Drama - 2025, 8 episodes
Nice watch, but too short for me to really get engaged.
-
7. My Dearest Nemesis
Korean Drama - 2025, 12 episodes
Started it with no expectations, but actually fell in love with the characters. It is the perfect cliche but engaging krom-com. The ending was a bit rushed - the drama between the leads was unnecessary and some characters shouldn't have been forgiven, but I was sold on the chemistry. Especially the ML was awesome, we need more otaku representation in dramas.

8. The First Frost
Chinese Drama - 2025, 32 episodes
Tiring af. Tried to watch it at least 3 times, but got stuck every single time. All the characters feel lifeless and so do I while watching it.
-
9. The Best Thing
Chinese Drama - 2025, 28 episodes
Cute drama with beautiful leads. Very easy watch.
-
10. Undercover High School
Korean Drama - 2025, 12 episodes
Cringy humor and incompetent characters (even for a comedy drama standard) killed it for me. Finished it as a background drama while I do my workout.
-
11. Friendly Rivalry
Korean Drama - 2025, 16 episodes
[On-hold]
-
12. Filter
Chinese Drama - 2025, 32 episodes
The show is sooo well paced. If it was just the ML falling for one FL, waiting >20 eps for them to date is usually such a chore. But the way the filter is used makes the romance so enjoyable. I tend to be very very impatient for the romance to start and I am here too, but they make the wait so much more thrilling! The comedy is perfect, the angst too and they casted everyone perfectly. Hidden gem!

13. Weak Hero Class 1
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
Actually never finished Class 1 while I first started it. I was just scared to finish something this good, with no clue if something as perfect ever comes around. But got around to it before Class 2 dropped, and the show is just gut wrenching. You can see how much love and care it took for the cast and crew to create such a story. Classic.

14. Under the Skin
Chinese Drama - 2022, 20 episodes
Not a huge fan of crime dramas, but tried this one cause of TJC. And it is hella entertaining! Wished for more time for the chemistry between main leads to bloom even more, but I was satisfied nonetheless.

15. Weak Hero Class 2
Korean Drama - 2025, 8 episodes
Class 2 was entertaining, it had an amazing cast, the characters are well fleshed out and it's easy to root for them - but it only made me appreciate the genius behind Class 1 more. C2 has nowhere near that level of suspense and the brutality - maybe except for the first episode. The fights are fine, but way less creative and carry less weight somehow. The villain is not scary enough for me - while the first villain in C1 was scary as shit cause he was an adult for once, and a crazy one at that, and the second villain (Beomseok) was even scarier cause of the way we saw him fall. Here, Donald Na is not scary at all and I can't take him as a real threat.
Also the characters' emotions take the back seat in C2, while in C1 they were always the driving force.
But overall C2 was a good, competent show. I feel like the creator lacked the time to think it through a few more times though and make it even more impactful. -
16. Destined with You
Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes
If you get through underwhalming first eps (very cold ML, and work harassment) this is a very standard, cliche kdrama, done pretty well. Nothing offensive here (besides the cheating, but the girl is a bitch so I personally could look past it), nothing very bad, chemistry is on point and leads are very pretty. I just wish the mother would have divorced that sad excuse of a husband. I feel like in some version of the script she did, but they scrapped her relationship with her son's friend cause it would be too unorthodox for a kdrama.

17. Past Lives
Korean Movie - 2023
Beautiful movie.
-
18. The Haunted Palace
Korean Drama - 2025, 16 episodes
[Dropped at ep 5] There is no chemistry, and the dragon acts like a 5 yo child, not a creature that nearly ascended to heavens. The story is also not engaging one bit. It tries to replicate Mr Queen's success, with worse script, worse actors (sorry...) and disappointing comedy.

19. Racket Boys
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
As a sports drama, there could be a bit more emphasis put on the matches themselves, but I don't care, I watched it for our precious middle-schoolers and coaches. I could spend another 16 eps with those characters no problem. Comfort drama.

20. Dear Hongrang
Korean Drama - 2025, 11 episodes
A dark, gut-wrenching story about carrying the guilt and shame of being a victim for the rest of your life. Moved me like no other drama this year.

21. Shogun
Japanese Drama - 2024, 10 episodes
[Currently watching]

22. Pump Up the Healthy Love
