BL green flag characters / series

Thap :    such a natural care-giver; his ability to listen critically and provide a different perspective on grief makes him perfect for In. Not to mention, his patience while providing security for In to heal and grieve at his own pace speaks volumes to his growth as a character.

In :    green flag with trauma - his core instinct is to protect those around him, even if it means taking the arrow for them. One of my favorite things about this series is how In and Thap take turns helping each other through difficult trials. In notices Thap's struggles and makes an effort to reciprocate the safe space Thap has consistently provided him.

The Chief & Phian :    what a healthy green flag couple. The way they provide a safe space for In to be emotionally vulnerable means a lot to me.

The emotional intelligence and growth of all the characters in this series should be studied in Psychology classes.

Joke + Zo :    This was one of my favorite watches this year so far (2026) because of how this couple was written. It was incredibly refreshing to see a couple that had realistic arguments and moments of miscommunication followed by reconciliation and accountability. They messed up sometimes, sure, but they TALKED about it afterwards. Joke especially, encouraged Zo to express his emotions and allow himself to feel them without rushing him. Zo taught Joke a lot about boundaries and the importance of apologies. Aside from a few writer’s choices (usually made for plot purposes), this couple has one of the most realistic and natural relationship progressions as well as individual character development. This series doesn’t have a strong central plot, HOWEVER it has one of the best executed character-driven plots I’ve seen from a BL so far. It’s easily one of my favorites for this reason alone.

Joke :    I honestly have no idea how no one talks about how wonderful of a person Joke is more, but it should be a crime. He creates a safe environment for Zo to express and work through his feelings, consistently reassuring him to take things slow and checking in o him emotionally. He find the need

Po :    my favorite from this series - he is both empathetic and observant, helping everyone around him grow emotionally. And he expects nothing in return)

Thame :    green flag to everyone but himself because of his willingness to sacrifice everything for the people he loves

Pepper :    the unsung hero of this series - consistently loyal and supportive of everyone he loves. ThamePo would NOT have gotten together without him honestly

Prapai :    OKAY, WAIT HEAR ME OUT - yes, he is definitely a red-flag at the start of his story (which, in my opinion, stems from his lack of exposure to deep human connection) until he begins to feel something more than infatuation for Sky. I honestly think there is a level of nuance that Fort brings to Prapai, pairing confidence with naivety. Prapai's lack of experience in deeply caring for another person in pain allows him to give his heart to Sky almost immediately without any traumatic barriers holding him back. I really appreciate how Fort plays Prapai - he can go from cocky rich boy to concerned emotionally-present protector and make it believable.
