BL living rent free in my mind
This rabbit hole goes deep... Tracking shows I have watched (or rage quit due to various whims) and my thoughts.
-
1. Perfect 10 Liners
Thai Drama - 2024, 24 episodes
I WANT TO ALLCAPS MY JOY WITH THIS SERIES. No notes. Also, read the books - they are great. 10000000% recommend.
-
2. We Are
Thai Drama - 2024, 16 episodes
Well, I flew halfway around the world to attend the fanmeeting in Japan so that says how much I enjoyed this... But GIVE ME ALL THE AOUBOOM PLS AND A SERIES OF THEIR OWN ASAP. *ahem* in terms of an actual review this is pure fluff and glee, a ray of light in these dark times. Milk Frappe boy and his art genius peer mentor healed all of my soul's pain. And I mean I guess the main leads also stole my heart and haven't given it back. Add this to your watchlist now.
-
3. Only Friends
Thai Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
Oh... this is horny boys with ISSUES who love creating mess and drama... (see me getting whiplash after consuming so much pure and innocent fluff). So much fun to watch - with some surpisingly very emotional throughlines. I approve of all of the cross-ship coupling here - the theme is everyone sleeps with everyone and then there is fallout.
-
4. A Tale of Thousand Stars
Thai Drama - 2021, 10 episodes
Most definitely a healing drama vibe, with lots of character growth for the main lead coming to terms with a life changing event and the ripple effect that it has on not only himself, but a whole community. This is a cosy drama with some innocent BL (though with great chemistry).
-
5. Moonlight Chicken
Thai Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
A drama with vibes. Great cast, great setting great themes and a great plot.
-
6. Bad Buddy
Thai Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
This has my favourite kind of ML - the over enthusiastic labrador type cutie who bulldozes his way into the tsundere love interest's heart. Infinitely re-watchable enemies to lovers plot in a university setting that does a great job subverting so many of the usual BL tropes.
-
7. My School President
Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
Very cute and fluffy highschool drama - perfect gateway to Thai BL. GeminiFourth have great chemistry and the soundtrack is fun. All the side characters pair off as well (you get a boyfriend, he gets a boyfriend - we all get boyfriends!) This is a tropey drama done well.
-
8. KinnPorsche
Thai Drama - 2022, 14 episodes
Everyone is toxic AF and unhealthy for each other or a straight up psycho. It's a mafia drama so every character is morally grey and the reddest of flags. But damn if I didn't binge this over a weekend with no sleep because I love this kind of ish. It's my kind of brain-rot.
-
9. Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice but to Kiss!
Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
A very cute and funny high school movie with a boy who is perenially unlucky discovers that if he stays near the most popular boy in school, good things happen. Problem is... they're now accidentally in a dating relationship.
-
10. My Love Mix-Up!
Japanese Drama - 2021, 10 episodes
A very pure and innocent Jmovie, but one that's just like a warm vanilla cupcake - sweet and delicious. As a bonus it's very faithful to the manga. The love square in this is hilarious and it's a drama where the misunderstandings lead to comedy rather than frustration.
-
11. The Eclipse
Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
Great emotional through line with First and Khao giving excellent performances about the struggle to fit in, to do what's right, to be accepted and most of all to be true to yourself. The overarching plot is a little rushed at the end, but it's not really the focus of the series. I'm always 100% here for enemies to lovers and this one really makes it believable.
-
12. The Heart Killers
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
Ep 1 was certainly SOMETHING. My pure innocent eyes... (give me more like this pls). A pretty fun romp with a just-go-with-BL-logic-and-don't-overthink plot. Khao ate up the role (and First...). I am le biased with this rating.
-
13. Wandee Goodday
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
FWB to lovers with lots of eye candy. Fun to have a series where everyone is appropriately aged and not shy about desire. The main plot circles around lust vs love (to the point of frustration because our ML is bad at communication!) but this is a fun watch for sure. Also the book is so different to the adaptation! (not a bad thing at all, but choices were made...)
-
14. I Told Sunset about You
Thai Drama - 2020, 5 episodes
Classic coming of age story with a cinematic, almost dream-like style. All the angst, uncertainty, joy and despair that only youth can convey. For such a short series, it has a huge impact. OST is a 10/10.
-
15. Love in the Air
Thai Drama - 2022, 13 episodes
Tropey and kind of low budget in places (please fire whoever was in charge of the sound mixing) but a cute watch (with some trauma of course that can be an uncomfortable watch please check content warnings). Great chemistry from both pairs which let me gloss over any cringe. Having read the books, this is now in my comfort shows list and I judge my taste for that but clearly I have a thing for men who show love by being stalkers.
-
16. My Stubborn
Thai Drama - 2025, 12 episodes
Super close adaptation of the novel. And my brand of manipulative and toxic. Sorn is 1000000% a terrible person for about 80% of the show giving mixed signals and generally being a trash fuckboy. But! Boat really sells him to me, and captures his conflicted feelings so well. Oat is a cutie as Jun (perfectly cast), and you really feel his agony of falling for someone who won't reciprocate love or stop messing with him (with both sex and that whole enemies to lovers thing they have going). This drama has a simple plot, but sometimes that's what you want - two people who need to communicate their emotions and needs and not just express desire. Rushed ending though - so make sure to read the book.
-
17. My Stand-In: Uncut
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
Even when your soul is in another body, can you really stop yourself from loving someone - even when they've hurt you the most. Intriguing watch - even as you want Joe to grow a backbone and go for revenge, you can see his yearning for love and the conflicted feelings he still has for Ming. He has an irresistable pull. He's the worst - yet heartbreaking because you come to understand why. Rewatchable. Great pairing too.
-
18. Cherry Blossoms after Winter
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
Faithful adaptation of the manhwa. This is a short series that doesn't drag out the plot. Highschool romance with some angst and a cute dating arc.
-
19. Not Me
Thai Drama - 2021, 14 episodes
Very srs bsnss drama with heavy themes and lots of crying (by me). At times I was like... this is a GMMTV drama? They can air this on the YouTubes??? On the darker side plotwise, but a satisfying watch.
-
20. Semantic Error
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
An enemies to lovers trope. I must admit to really liking that teasing dynamic that's supposed to be REVENGE but it's more of the 'I like you but I don't undertand my feelings so I'll just torture you until you give in to me' vibe. Good adaptation of the manhwa as well.
-
21. Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!
Japanese Drama - 2020, 12 episodes
Love the manga - especially love this adaptation!
-
22. Revenged Love
Chinese Drama - 2025, 24 episodes
Hilarious and absolutely unhinged. And considering the source novel a fairly clean adaptation (let us mourn the Chinese censors robbing us of more intimate scenes!). Love Chi Cheng, but the true standout in this is my man Guo Chengyu - a true paragon amongst BL men, a green forest for sure. May he and the cute doctor stay together forever (their h/c dynamic is *muah*)
-
23. Top Form
Thai Drama - 2025, 11 episodes
Ascended fanboy gets his longtime crush to acknowledge him as an actor and love him back. First half is a lot of fun with the pursuit and push/pull. Loved the black cat/cute labrador dynamic. Loses some momentum at the end, with the plot being a bit repetetive and more about external factors and not the relationship between the leads. Extra point for drunk!Boom cuteness (and the black honey scene...)
-
24. Your Sky
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
Sugary sweet, and heavy on the cute. This isn't revolutionary, but is a fun watch with plenty of the usual university setting tropes and a hard turn at the end there with some spicy NC scenes.
-
25. Pit Babe
Thai Drama - 2023, 13 episodes
A drama where you are like WTF am I watching but you can't look away. Has a touch of Omegaverse elements (that whip you in the face at really uncomfortable moments). Pavel is a 10/10 cry actor. 100% Wattpad fic vibes. I ship all the minor characters together. Justice for Way!
-
26. A Man Who Defies the World of BL
Japanese Special - 2021, 1 episode
Definitely one of the more fun BL comedies around. This one takes all the tropes and cranks them to 11 in a self-aware parody universe. Short episodes perfect to binge - or to show friends and drag them into a BL spiral.
-
27. Fish upon the Sky
Thai Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
Annoying AF ML who has some real bullshit hangups about relationships (and apparently needs a makeover to land a boyfriend... IN WHAT UNIVERSE?!) - but despite many flaws I still really enjoyed this one. PondPhuwin can sell me ice in the middle of winter and I can overlook a lot of issues as I am shallow like that.
-
28. The Boy Next World: Uncut
Thai Drama - 2025, 10 episodes
Intriguing concept that's let down with the short episode run time. 10 episodes is not enough to explore all the hinted at plot threads and implications, so the final 2 eps really skim through resolving things. (Reading the book will not give answers either!) Love all the minor characters in this, and BossNoeul have some fire chemistry as well. Still an enjoyable watch - especially the bonus episode.
-
29. Love Sea
Thai Drama - 2024, 10 episodes
Excellent Chemistry between Fort and Peat (Mahasamut is the greenest of flags)! This started with a bang (hehe) but fizzled a bit once the plot moved to Bangkok and away from the island setting. Some of the motivations of the characters are unclear (you need to read the novel to really get them, and that's a failing on the writing). Extra points because I love the actors.
-
30. Only Boo!
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
Absolutely adorable high school series about pursuing your dreams (and your man!) Keen is cosmic level cute - how anyone can resist his antics is beyond me and Sea also gives a fairly solid performance. This is a quick and breezy watch with low conflict in a high school setting. (bonus Book cameo!)
-
31. Secret Lover
Taiwanese Drama - 2025, 12 episodes
Cuuuuuuuuuuutee. Short webdrama format with an absolutely fatal-to-my-heart cute boy lead. We love a couple who communicate and resolve their problems by talking. This is a pastel coloured BL dream.
-
32. Cooking Crush
Thai Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
Pure fluff! One of those super cute short series that aren't too serious and deliver on the chemistry side of things. One to binge when you need a pick me up
-
33. Takara-kun & Amagi-kun
Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
High school boys who act like high school boys with lots of angst, longing and it's just a sweet story about falling in love. Very typical JDrama - but has great cinematography and an immersive style to it.
-
34. The Red Envelope
Thai Movie - 2025
Fun movie with lots of comedy, but a very strong throughline of being true to yourself. A police informant picks up a red envelope and ends up in a ghost marriage and has to help unravel the mystery behind his 'husband's' death. Bittersweet ending as I shipped it badly...
-
35. Wedding Plan: Uncut
Thai Drama - 2023, 7 episodes
Cute and breezy mini drama that's a quick watch. What do you do when you fall in love with the groom of the wedding you're supposed to be planning. The conflict could be resolved with an adult conversation or two, but then there's no plot left. Nuea and Lom have some adorable moments and a few spicy ones too...
-
36. Bed Friend: Uncut
Thai Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
Romcom fluff that's interspersed with some heavier topics (dealt with quite well). Uea and King are terrible at the whole FWB set-up as it's pretty clear there's some feelings from the start. James has a great aura and gives these very sly looks that suit his character Uea so well. 10/10 Cat Roleplay NC scene though... Great adaptation of the book as well - we love a couple who communicate, respect boundaries and show affection.
-
37. Love by Chance
Thai Drama - 2018, 14 episodes
University Romance, with a chance meet-cute sparking something more. The Ae/Pete storyline is pretty adorable fluff without too many obstacles. Tinn/Khaen is unfortunately a little underdeveloped (especially if you have read the book) as there are two more couples added to the series that technically belong to other stories. I wish they had extended the run time of the series as these two side couples give some serious whiplash and aren't resolved at all. Sound mixing is also grating at times (the music editor needs to reconsider their career path). Overall I enjoyed it a lot, as many favourite scenes from the book were played out.
-
38. Love in the Air: Koi no Yokan
Japanese Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
Japan adaptation of LITA - with a much shorter run time (around 30 mins per ep) so storylines are compressed and a lot of the relationship development suffers - though it's still impressive that they manage to hit most of the main points. Arashi and Ren have a cute dynamic, but Fuma and Kai are a bit harder to warm up to. A quick watch for fans of the original series.
-
39. Candy Color Paradox
Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
A quick watch that's pretty enjoyable and fairly light on in terms of 'drama'. This has the 'cute' and quirky + cold/standoffish love set-up. Office based drama with rivals to lovers.
-
40. My Love Mix-Up!
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
If you have seen the Japanese Series or read the manga this adaptation may be disappointing. It does veer from the original plot at times (and also makes some questionable changes). But if you view it as a standalone high school BL that has a cute and wholesome plot it's a fun watch. A bit draggy in places (and the PPL is on the nose at times), but overall worth it for GemFourth fans.
-
41. Color Rush
Korean Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
This has a fascinating world set-up (kind of an alternate universe where you have a fated person who will literally change your world). It's an equally fun and frustrating watch because it has so much potential but is hamstrung with the short webdrama format. Worth the watch though. Season 2 leaves even more loose plot threads though.
-
42. Tokyo in April Is...
Japanese Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
Based on a manga. A rewarding watch as it bounces between flashbacks as children and then the present adult timeline. Has some darker themes throughout (and the old childhood trauma trope just as an FYI). I was happy with the romance in this though - us vs the world.
-
43. Kidnap
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
This one had a great start, but is definitely took a bit of a dive in the back half plot / writing wise, which was a bit of a bait and switch. Leads do have good chemistry though - so that's a bonus.
-
44. Love Syndrome III: Uncut Version
Thai Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
Based on book 3 of the Day/Itt Novels, this would be a confusing watch if you have not read at least up to this point in the series, as mutiple pairings and side plots are mentioned and the flashbacks that explain just how Itt and Day met and fell in love are extremely sanitised (this is one super fucked up plot, but yeahhhh I devoured those books because I can separate fantasy and real life). This pairing is toxic AF, but this adaptation is actually a fairly rewarding watch.
-
45. Cutie Pie
Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
100% brain rot. The plot is trash. Red flags galore. BUT I CANNOT DENY THE CHEMISTRY. At times I looked deep into my soul to find the flaw that makes me love this shit so much and it was like staring into the abyss.
-
46. The Trainee
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
Workplace based drama where the set-up kind of requires you to turn off brain logic and go wiwith the flow. Currently on hold at the mid-point as I wasn't super invested and got distracted.
-
47. Love Syndrome: The Beginning
Thai Movie - 2024
Movie length adaptation of part 1 of the Day/Itt Novel (sort of, it covers like the first 20 or so chapters and focuses a lot more on Gear/Night). Also ends on a cliffhanger with no resolution. Alas will likely never be completed due to the tragic passing of the director. This has different actors to Love Syndrome 3, but a significantly upped budget. Would only recommend if you are familiar with the novels.
-
48. The Next Prince
Thai Drama - 2025, 14 episodes
Pretty to look at, the budget is budgeting but essentially empty plotwise. Suffers from too many themes and then they don't really get resolved or the screentime needed to develop them. Great chemistry with the cast, and worth a binge if you are generous with your time.
-
49. Oh! My Assistant
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
Short webdrama that was a bit rushed feeling plotwise. It has a great funny opening set-up, but does lose it's way to a rather meh ending. I blame the writing / adaptation on this as the actors are great and it does have some good moments.
-
50. Love by Chance Season 2: A Chance to Love
Thai Drama - 2020, 13 episodes
As a fan of the original novel (My Accidental Love is You) Khaen and Tinn are my favourite couple and this SHOULD have been the sequel series to showcase their story. Instead the first 6 eps are a retelling with changed elements and timelines as Ae wallows in misery because Pete has left (good luck unravelling this plot without reading the book...). I did enjoy parts of this, plus the crumbs of Tul/Hin at the end. But overall a frustrating watch.
-
51. Never Let Me Go
Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
Plot? What plot? If you try to think about it too much it will unravel and the nonsense will begin to offend you. PondPhuwin try, but the material is just meh (and so is the ending). I will admit to not loving this, but it was an early BL watch and I may need to revisit it.
-
52. Eye Contact (Uncut Ver.)
Thai Drama - 2025, 6 episodes
Short series with a double (and then triple) plotline. A bit weak in places, but the tropes are troping and you have to love a he fell harder after we slept together throughline. Back half does have a hard turn to non-con with the third couple with a set-up for season 2.
-
53. The Tuxedo: Re-Edit Version
Thai Drama - 2022, 4 episodes
Short drama with some great kissing scenes. Let down by some inconsistent writing - the jump from not liking each other to in a relationship was... fast. Not a fan of the cheating on the girlfriend trope either. Great OST though!
-
54. Enchanté
Thai Drama - 2022, 10 episodes
ForceBook are cute, and there are some fun parts, but the overall plot (and its resolution) will make you tear out your hair and roll your eyes as you curse out the writing team for their audacity. If you can turn off the part of your brain that craves logic and reasoning and things making sense and just go with vibes it's not a bad series to binge if you stop at episode 8 and just deny that autoplay function. (This is not a terrible series, but I have placed it last on my list out of pure SPITE at the ending)
-
55. ABO Desire
Chinese Drama - 2025, 16 episodes
Oh hey there, it's the final boss of manipulative toxic bullshit male leads who are literal psychopaths! Hua Yong you are the best! I applaud your cunning and the ridiculous lengths you will go to in order to capture your Alpha (Oh yes, that ABO in the title means Omegaverse...) Plot drags a bit in places (the week to week watch is excruciating) and the Chinese censors are working overtime, but we have to give it up for this ludicrous ride.
