Vertical Dramas

My favorite version of this plot. 

Plot: The man I married brings home a concubine and tries to undermine my position as his main wife, so I become the Emperor's side piece and eventual wife. 

"The guy I was engaged to got a concubine, so I got a concubine!"

The prince has been poisoned, and the only way to live is by sleeping with the female lead, as she has the cure in her blood. She ends up 'dying' and he grieves her, only to later find out she didn't die, but her health is terrible, and they have a child. 

The only version of this plot that I've seen and liked. In this version, the emperor's love and protection of her makes sense. In the other one I saw, it was weird and felt like it came out of nowhere. 

Top 3 crazy. Toxic ml, toxic sml. Crazy af. 

Slightly toxic. HE.

"I'm not really a boy or related to the imperial family, and my 'uncle' wants me"

Lots of kisses and really sweet. The female lead gets framed and drugged by her evil family and then loses everything. To get even, she goes after her sister's fiancé. They get together, get married, and it's later discovered that the man they drugged the female lead to sleep is the male lead. The family goes to jail, and the female lead and male lead live happily ever after. 

Lmao, this one is so funny to me because the female lead plays tf out of the male lead and the second male lead. It's so fun to watch her toy with them. 

I love this one so much, but the ending is so frustrating. We don't get to find out who her baby daddy is. Also, trigger warning because in the beginning of the show, she doesn't remember who she sleeps with because she put something into her drink and their drinks. Ngl, a lot of vertical cdramas need trigger warnings. 

This isn't a vertical drama. It's a mini drama that's short. Added it here to remember to rewatch it. 

Sigh, the relationship between the general and the empress dowager is so so cute. I wish we got to see more of it. Out of the three versions of this plot that I've seen, this one is my favorite. We also get to see her cute relationship with her adopted grandson. 

I like this version, but another version of this is called 《侯门焚心录》, and I prefer that version. 

Basic plot: Female lead is reborn after being killed by her family in her past life, she's then forced to sign a slave contract with the male lead so that he can help her/she can survive. On top of that, she helps him with his goals, etc. 

The reason I like this version less than the one I mentioned above is that he's a lot meaner to the female lead. And towards the end, there is sort of a cliffhanger after she rejects being his queen. Whereas in the other one, although we don't get to see the fight for his rise in power, we know they are fighting side by side. The male lead also seems to respect the female lead in 《侯门焚心录》a lot more. 

Badass female lead realizes that the emperor's love is fickle and plots against him. She wins. I mainly watched this because the female is a princess in Legend of Zhaohua, and the emperor is a character in the Legend of Shenli. It was fun to watch, and the acting was great. 

This wasn't what I was expecting tbh...and idk if I like it or not. 

Her family was annoying but I like the cp.

Toxic lol. 

I think so far I've liked every version of this plot that I've seen. 

Trigger warning: Tbh, all of these ancient mini dramas need trigger warning but this one especially for SA. His brother gives him some drug that makes him violent crazy etc and he forgets everything every time. Only reason why this is even listed here is because aside from the random drug/crazy faze, it's somewhat nice...I guess. 

The ending of this one was annoying because it's a cliffhanger. In their past life, no matter what she did, he treated her badly, and eventually she died. She then gets a do-over and tries by all means to avoid him, but he keeps sabotaging her. In the end, he has a dream about what he put her through in their previous life, and kind of alludes to that as well when speaking to her. It ends in a cliffhanger because we don't get to see what happens after she finds out. But based on the other version of this I've seen, unfortunately, it's likely that she marries him again. 

This is...something. It's interesting to say the least. 

She should have not forgiven him so quickly...it annoyed me tbh, but this is a cute drama/fun watch. Acting is decent.

It's so good. I love it!

Plot: Born a concubine's daughter and suffering hardship, she's determined to escape concubinage. She meets the male lead, and it's a never-ending tango between the two. In the end, she focuses on her studies while also getting the man. 

This is good, but the male lead annoyed me at times. The female lead loses her memories, and the male lead does as well. He thinks she cheated on him and wants to take her life, but she runs away, negotiates with him, and they uncover the truth, as well as the children they forgot they had. They live happily ever after. The reason why the male lead annoyed me is because of his rash actions and refusal to properly apologize. Do with that info what you will. 

HE...I guess.

This is so cute. Two BFFs get married into the same family and 'pretend' to have personalities that they don't have in order to please their husbands. They then decided to run away together, but the husbands came after them. They all end up in happy, cute marriages. 

Reverse harem. My fav! 

This one is so funny. They switch bodies, and in order to switch back, they have to sleep together. 

"I was tricked into marrying this one guy and after he's gone, my mother-in-law forced me to sleep with his brother" trope. 

Extremely cute and wholesome.
