BL dramas that made me mad

I checked out this series because of the hype... it delivered on chemistry but it was so toxic that I decided to drop it after angrily pushing myself through seven episodes. The series shows non-consent, sexual assault and it is not depicted as bad but hot and the series also handles trauma horribly. I was disgusted. What made it even worse was that they talked about how people have the wrong idea about gay people and then they have the gay character molest his roommate.

One of the couples in this series is really upsetting, they are step-brothers and one of them acts like a psycho. He physically assaults a person out of jealousy and he stalks and is possessive of his brother. He also sexually assaults and rapes his brother... Seeing him happy afterwords and hearing his disgusting selfish words... My god, can you make a character more unlikable?  The brother who raped his own brother also gave advise to another guy, saying "your way is too aggressive for chasing after a guy. I can teach you”. It was gross, he had zero self-awareness and no accountability. The advise he gave was also awful.

They had chemistry but due to literally everything else I hated them together.  The show did not paint these situations as the crimes that they were and let the victim take blame in what happened and excused the other brothers behaviour. The way the show made light of it was also disgusting. I fast-forwarded a lot of their scenes. I would have given the show a 1 if not for the other couple in it.

Looking through the comments of this series most people hated Boston... but were was the hate for Top! I thought Top was worse than Boston but most people easily forgave him and the series did to. Top was a lying, manipulating, cheating asshole who also pushed Mew into having sex with him when Mew said that he wasn't ready. Red flags were waving when I heard him talk. Boston was atleast open about how he still was a bad-boy and how he wasn't a good person, Top kept making excuses and expected Mew to forgive him.

The couple that I was supposed to root for were toxic (mostly in the first episode though). They had sex when one of them couldnt consent, he was drunk and thought he was having sex with someone else, the other person knew this and still had sex with him... RAPE. He also says the following later on in the series "Im not a good person but I never exploit people", when the other guy asks if he did something to him when he was drunk at another time. God, it made me mad.

The female character in this was soooo selfish, self-centered, obsessive and mean, to the point were she just felt like a villain. She made me so mad. Her friends still treated her so kindly, it made me even more mad. She basically outed the person she liked because she was jealous and they still told her "you care about him the most" and excused her behaviour. I call bullshit. She was a selfish bitch honestly and the show should have given her real consequences.

It had me until one of the characters, the love interest did an awful thing that made him look dangerously obsessive, controlling and manipulative and like a massive red flag to me. He continues to act that way, first like a stalker and then like a toxic boyfriend. He does not respect his boyfriends wishes or protect him from harmful people. Also, removing someones clothes when they tell you not to=gross. I no longer wanted the characters together after the first incident. A shame because I did enjoy the couple very much at first and they had chemistry.

The shippers in the series were also disgusting, they invaded their privacy, doxxed & harassed them. Did they face reprecusions or see the error of their ways? Ofcourse not. The male lead and his ex basically just collabed with them.

Whats missing? A jealous female ex, who acted like a friend, who outs them. Great. Just great.

Why did Kinn have to rape Porsche? Because let's make it clear, that is what Kinn did when he had sex with Porsche when he was heavily drugged. The series did not frame it as the horrible act that it was when it was happening, but instead made it seem "sexy".  Disgusting. Well atleast the series portraid that Porsche felt violated afterwards and that Kinn regretted doing it. 

Outing someone= fine if they did something bad? Seems that way if you watch this series. God, I wanted the outer to suffer, but no, he was fine and felt fine about what he did. The series also didn't show how awful and dangerous outing someone can be. 

Couple number 2: There is a big age-gap between them, one of them is in school and they really act their age. So… not a fan of that… I’m hoping that they don’t become a couple (I have not finished the series) but I know that they will. The younger guy is also abusive. He threatens and punshes a guy when he thinks that he and the guy he is interested in might have something going on. He stalks his love interest. He also kisses his love interest forcefully, without consent, he repetedly continues when the love interest pushes him away.

Couple number 1: I got super mad when one of the guy’s prevented the other guy from making it to the exams in time. The show wants me to root for them as a couple when he acts like a bully, that irritates me.

People love this series... I stopped rooting for the couple in it and that is not a good sign. I just felt like Phua didn't truly come back as a character after what he said and did to Tian when they had the big missunderstanding. Regret is not enough, I wanted him to feel bad about what he did, explain himself and apologize. 

WTF Ming hit Joe over the head with a bat! Chaining him up! Why do they have to make characters so extreme! He was acting bad enough before, relatably bad.

Wut made me angry when he on more than one occasion put hands on joe when he had not done anything bad.

Tong is a selfish, self serving, self obsessed, lazy, cowardly asshole. He uses people and he’s willing to do anything for money and fame. This man has no good qualities, I seriously can not think of one. The fear of the loan sharks, was only one driving force for his behaviour and only at one point in time. He was an asshole before he was in dept and when he was in dept he was an asshole about things that he did not need to be an asshole about to still get the money (treating staff like shit). He even hesitated about calling the loan sharks when he knew that they might kill Joe, who sacrificed himself for Tong. I seriously do not want his wife to stay with him.  

I hated that Mings dad treated the boyfriend of his gay son like shit but they brush it off with ”he is just concerned for his son". He still acted like an asshole! Hitting Joe when he goes to care for Ming and threatening Joe with a gun if he leaves Ming. When he tells Tong that he will not pay for him any more and reminds Tong to take care of his wife he says  "and that goes for you to Joe". Gross, as if its the same situations!

The dad and Tongs actions were horrible. And Ming saying that Tong DESERVES a second chance? No, he has not proven himself. Tong should have insisted on giving Joe his acting credit. Tong did not actively seek out forgiveness and he did not give a good or any apology to all the people he treated like shit. Not his wife, his brother in law, Joe or any of the staff. Tong says that he thinks his wife would not want him if he was not a celebrity, so he asked for a divorce, again he is so selfcentered.

This is romance between two adult men. They didn't show any physical contact worth mentioning (not in the movie either) and they built it up like they would and told us they had... I felt cheated and frustrated , it felt like they didn't actually become a couple. Since I really enjoyed the series and the relationship they had it was even more aggravating. 

Episode 10 had me real mad SPOILER who the fuck breaks up like that! AWFUL, not realistic either.

One of them did something really thoughful and the other person just shat on it and he never said sorry, that's it.

Do you love watching a person cry? Do you want to see a love interest that is toxic and mean, shows no real improvement but still gets together with the main character in the end? Then this series is perfect for you! 

This series is really missing some important kissing scenes. I guess we are to assume that they kissed and made out more times then the really few times we saw but they never really indicated, told or showed the audience that they did. Because of this I didn't buy where the couple was supposed to be at in the relationship. When they moved in together my first thought was ”What? Did I miss something? Did I skip over episodes? How can they be at this stage, they have not even really kissed yet!”. 

This is the second season of "I told sunset about you". The first season was a magical romance and this season kind of makes it less so, that is why this season made me mad. The second season is still a good season though... just act like it is a completely different story if you don't want it to ruin the relationship you saw in the first season.

He kidnapped the one he was interested in and forced himself on him... Why, just why is this so popular to do in a romance series. It's not hot to me, just disturbing.

No kisses and it would have been realistic for them to kiss... And more.

I very rarely like the enemies to lovers trope. They usually have one person that act like a bully towards another person, who in turn just don't like them because of how they are being treated by them. Then they have the bullied person falling for the bully despite the other persons bad/horrible behaviour. This is the case in this series also but lets see if I can ignore it, so far (I am at the beginning of episode 2) I have wanted the bullied one to actually hurt the other one with his bow (so not a great sign). I rarely root for a character to get together with their bully, they better have a great explanation and their relationship better improve drasticly. Update: Okay so his family treat him like shit, not enough reason for me. However I understand why the other guy starts to care about him when he sees that.

God, the friend that acted mad when his friends kept their relationships from him made me so mad. He was so damn self-centered and selfish. There are many reasons as to why you may not tell a person about a relationship, especially if it is a gay relationship and you havent come out. So, shut up and give them time, support and trust in you. He let his own insecurities come before his friends well-being and it could have impacted them horribly.

…and the parents also made me mad, ofcourse, no explanation needed.

The girl in it, Meng Meng acted in a disgusting way, so disrespectful. Shipping the two guys to their faces when they were not even interested in each other, talking about their sexual positions... Stalking them, taking secret photos of them... Writing a love confession in the name of one of the guys without their consent and having that guy hand it to the other guy. Gross things. She should stop interfeering in peoples lives. I wanted her to learn that atleast... She did not. She just asked for forgiveness for one specific thing she did, because that did not work out and made the guys sad. Atleast that is how I interpreted it.

He had sex with a person that he knew was very drugged and on an aphrodisiac... RAPE

Face-slapping as punishment, I have probably seen it in other series and gotten mad over it but I don't remember. I am not a fan, it does not matter if the one getting hit is a woman or a man. The woman in this series slapped the male lead, it made me mad, her reason for hitting him was also very weak. She already knew that he was interested in another man when she started dating him. Him acting jealous (which he does not realice) because the man he likes is talking with his ex should not result in her hitting him.

Both leads drew very bad conclusions which resulted in most of the conflict. For example: saw two people hug=they are a couple, he is unsure=he does not like me. I found it imature and very irritating to watch. Communicate, do not assume and try to take people the right way.

what made me mad:
-that the first kiss was while one of them was sleeping i.E without consent.
-just how creepy/stalkerish Jins behaviour was in the first few episodes.
-in episode 4 when Jin kept his distance because he was sick, and didn't want to worry Akin. It makes no sense! Why would he be that worried? It's not cancer, it's a common cold! Just communicate. Talk about creating drama for no reason.
-the implications of what Jin was saying in ep 7 when he was comforting Akin... So if Akin was raped Akin would have made a mistake? Stop. Having sex with someone who is that drunk is rape!
-how Johnny was painted as a bad person parly because he slept with people to get acting jobs.... I mean those people used their position by giving the jobs to him when he slept with them! Blame them! I also hated that they basically threatened to expose this info. We do not know how it all started, if they said "if you do this for me then you will get the job" and how desperate he was, needing money for example. It's not uncommon for people that wants to control others, like Johnny seems to, to have been in a situation before were they had no control and got taken advantage of. Johnny did act like a predator, he was awful.

One of the love interests in it spends a lot of time being toxic and he doesn't really atone for it, so I didn't really want them to be together… and that is bad when the series is mostly about them getting together.

When you kill a character you have to think about what it adds to the story. I felt like atleast one death that occurred took away more than it gave...

What a mess. If i cared more about this series this would have been higher on this list. I can only imagine those who watched it without fast-forwarding. So many storylines were left hanging and they made us hate characters that they wanted us to like and wanted us to feel sympathy for characters that we had no interest in forgiving. Yeah... what a mess.
