Watched in 2025
All the dramas I watch in 2025 with short comments.
-
1. Stepmom and Daughter Blues
Japanese Drama - 2018, 10 episodes
A kind of typical comedy J-drama: silly but nice and warm. I started it mostly because I wanted to end the year with something light, and it was on Netflix and it has the incredibly attractive Takenouchi Yutaka. It was enjoyable. Started it on the 28th of December, completed January 1st.
-
2. Beautiful Life
Japanese Drama - 2000, 11 episodes
To keep up with my tradition to start the new year by going back to my J-drama roots... This was a very typical, very predictable drama for its genre, but it was nice. Beautiful Tokiwa Takako and not beautiful Kimura Takuya... it was kind of fun to watch them, with a brief appearance of Koyuki... I pretty much binged this, and yeah... it was a good "back to basics" experience. Watched it January 2nd - 3rd.
-
3. When the Phone Rings
Korean Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
It didn't live up to the hype in my opinion, too many things were too dumb, but it also wasn't too annyoing or draggy. I watched it while it aired and completed on January 4th.
-
4. Link: Eat, Love, Kill
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
The mysteries were interesting enough a lot of the time, but the drama was too slow with too many episodes and the romance was meh. Nothing but the nonsensical link. Started it sometime in the late autumn, completed January 24th.
-
5. Begin Again
Chinese Drama - 2024, 18 episodes
Wow, so sweet, so warm, so relaxing. This made me happy and the chemistry was so good. No fillers, nothing annoying, and different kinds of relationships. I just wish it was longer.
-
6. To the Wonder
Chinese Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
Very different and refreshing short drama. Beautiful and interesting with a gimplse into another way of life. I watched it slowly in the beginning of the year and didn't want it to end. The last episode was very sad so I wish it hadn't ended. Completed on February 11th.
-
7. Love Scout
Korean Drama - 2025, 12 episodes
This was fun! So very sweet and warm. Lovely romance drama. I liked the side couples too. Happy I watched this. Watched it while it aired, completed on Valentine's Day.
-
8. Jin
Japanese Drama - 2009, 11 episodes
A good J-drama, relaxing and fun with a mystery... it would probably be even better if I had known more about Japanese history. Watched in February, completed on the 22nd.
-
9. A Virtuous Business
Korean Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
Nice, pretty fun. A bit unusual plot, but the romance was very typical. Easy to watch and nothing wrong with it, but I think it's pretty forgettable. Watched in February, completed on the 26th.
-
10. Remembrance of Things Past
Chinese Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
This will go on my list of best dramas 2025, I'm sure. A good drama about a group of female friends and their lives, the thing I like done very well. Even though it began with a tragedy it wasn't depressing. It was just a bit more serious than most, which is a good thing. Watched mostly in February, completed March 5.
-
11. The Atypical Family
Korean Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
Pretty good, a bit different, and not as annoying as "supernatural" K-dramas usually are. Watched in March, completed on the 15th.
-
12. When Life Gives You Tangerines
Korean Drama - 2025, 16 episodes
Nice about one woman's life and love, from childhood to old age... We get to see some changesfrom the 1950's to the present and how hard life was like for Jeju women. Not bad, but generally too long and maybe too sentimental.
-
13. What Comes after Love
Korean Drama - 2024, 6 episodes
"What comes after love?" could definitely be a question to think about sometimes, and here and there was a phrase I could relate to. I wonder if I would have liked it less or more with more episodes? More understanding of the characters, maybe, but probably less. They were both at fault and I could understand that somewhere around the middle. No need to drag it out more... Underwhelming drama, didn't meet my expectations. Watched during Easter break, completed on the 25th.
-
14. Later, I Laughed
Chinese Drama - 2024, 24 episodes
More and more enjoyable as it goes on. Its biggest flaws is that many of the supporting characters and even the ML don't have a lot of personality. Would be better with more episodes and give some of the characters their own stories too, Watched in April, completed on the 27th.
-
15. Do You Like Brahms?
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
My type of drama. I liked it and found some of its aspects pretty realistic, but the love triangle went on for too long and the last few episodes were a bit draggy. Still very glad I watched it! Watched in May.
-
16. JIN Season 2
Japanese Drama - 2011, 11 episodes
A good way to end the story. It was a pretty interesting and enjoyable drama. Watched slowly in spring, completed May 29th.
-
17. The Glory
Chinese Drama - 2025, 30 episodes
Similar to The Double. Sometimes better, sometimes not. I was often bored in the second half, especially in the last four episodes. Started late in March, completed May 30th.
-
18. Friendly Rivalry
Korean Drama - 2025, 16 episodes
The kind of suspenseful and interesting "dark" melodrama about (mostly) rich people that is entertaining and easy to watch, but a bit underwhelming in the end and just "too much" to be taken seriously. I enjoyed watching it but I don't think it will make a lasting impression! Watched very quickly between 2nd and 7th June.
-
19. Tastefully Yours
Korean Drama - 2025, 10 episodes
A cosy feelgood drama - nothing more, nothing less. I never considered dropping it. Started in spring, completed June 13th.
-
20. One Night Morning
Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
This strikes me as "very Japanese". Also, relaxing to watch just now and then with its short stories, Each episode is its own story, and they are only connected by the guy in the last episode (and they're all about food and connecting with someone). There were some stories I liked more, for example the egg sandwich. I watched it slowly during the first half of the year, complted on Midsummer Eve.
-
21. Yong Pal
Korean Drama - 2015, 18 episodes
Good revenge romance medical melodrama... Not super amazing, and the ending was rushed (I just wanted some extra icing on the cake...) but enjoyable, good for its genre. The kind of drama that doesn't try too hard, it doesn't pretend to be something it's not. (I liked it almost as much as Healer, about as much as Mask and That Winter..., and a lot more than When the Phone...) Watched in early summer, completed July 2nd.
-
22. River Where the Moon Rises
Korean Drama - 2021, 20 episodes
Good start, boring long before the end. I like the Gogureyo fashion more than the Joseon style. Watched the first episodes in a good speed but it took me some time to finally complete it on July 12th.
-
23. Our Unwritten Seoul
Korean Drama - 2025, 12 episodes
A very good "healing" drama that I enjoyed a lot. My type of drama. But it didn't manage to go "all the way" into my heart and up into the Amazing territory; it was more like "a normal good drama" too often in the later episodes. (That's my weak effort to explain the high but not perfect rating.) Watched in July, completed on the 14th.
-
24. Dr. Romantic
Korean Drama - 2016, 20 episodes
Very good drama with a great cast and characters, even the operations are exciting. So much better than I thought, I'm glad I finally watched it. Watched in July, completed on the 29th.
-
25. A Calm Sea and Beautiful Days with You
Japanese Drama - 2025, 10 episodes
I started it with the wrong expectations. It's anime-style acting (unrealistic) with a goofy "airhead" type of FL. I skipped scenes and too a long time to get through it. Watched in summer, completed last of July.
-
26. Dr. Romantic Season 2
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
More of the same, so I liked it. But not as much as the first season. Too much silliness, and the main couple's romance was boring, very typical k-drama romance without feeling and chemistry. But this is not, despite the title, primarily a romance drama! Watched in August, completed on the 10th.
-
27. Yong Jiu Grocery Store
Taiwanese Drama - 2019, 10 episodes
Nice and warm, simple drama about family and friendship (and romance) in a small Taiwanese country town. Not the best, and too long episodes, but still a good drama. Started in spring, only watched sometimes and completed August 12.
-
28. Glass Heart
Japanese Drama - 2025, 10 episodes
It was an okay but unrealistic drama about friendship and obsession with exaggerated characters and okay music. Was I too old for it or do I just not appreciate a genius in action? Watched in August, completed on the 25th.
-
29. Delightfully Deceitful
Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes
Nothing delightful about this slow-paced never funny "comedy", but it was watchable. Watched in August, completed on the 29th.
