1. Your Name Engraved Herein
Taiwanese Movie - 2020
⚠️
A masterpiece.
There is no denying that it's made extremely well even if it doesn't suit your taste and whatnot. Everything from the writing, directing, visuals, OST to the acting is simply mind-blowing. It's based on the writers real-life story so it's no wonder it's so well written. You just get sucked into the world and story. As did the actors. They put their all to the roles and you can see it.
Sometimes we could see the inspiration taken from "Call Me By Your Name".
I would say it's for a more mature audience. Not necessarily for the scenes, but for the story. There is no way a younger mind is capable of understanding it to the fullest. I too was slightly younger the first time I saw it, but later on when rewatching I feel like I understand it more and see things in a very different light.
It shows how much people had/have to sacrifice to get equal rights and the freedom to love. To feel accepted by the ones close to you. So many have had to live their whole life in misery in order to survive, or they've given up.
It also does a great job at showing how these feelings come naturally sooner or later in life. Just like any other teen they started getting interested in others, but they just happened to be men.
Prepare to cry.

2. Lovely Writer
Thai Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
Something completely different and perfect.
The things they brought up! How in bl production actually gay and/or feminine characters won't be casted, "series without NC scenes won't do well", series sexualizing harrassment, rape, etc.
Also Gene and Sib's relationship developed so naturally and in a somewhat real way that I was shocked. Of course there had to be some cute cringey scenes, but even those made sense. One thing I liked a lot was how there wasn't any moments where the characters didn't understand each others feelings. The amount of times I've had to yell "don't you realize he likes you and he's jealous" to a character is countless. They always make them so dumb, but not in this one.
Nubsib was obviously flirting and chasing after Gene from the very beginning, but not even once did he not listen to Gene and respect his boundaries. He was always asking if what they're doing is okay with Gene and if he's sure. And the way consent was asked was so natural.
*spoiler*
I love how Gene straight up told his friends it's none of their business if he's gay or not even before being sure himself. Yet he didn't "cancel" these people because they don't understand why it's so difficult.
-
I enjoyed the side couple too and they were breaking some stereotypes as well.
The only reason why it's not rated higher is because of the production. Sound design, editing and all that. Not that it was bad, but it wasn't anything mind blowing like some have been. Story-wise, the characters, pacing, everything was really good.
Kao's acting has improved although he's had some roles more suitable for him, but their chemistry together is great. Up did an excellent job and I feel the role was like made for him.
(btw. I think Genes autism is canon)

3. Old Fashion Cupcake
Japanese Drama - 2022, 5 episodes
I felt like giving it a 10!
5 episodes = about 2 hour long movie. No dumb useless drama, no boring side-stories just them living their lives together and falling in love. Learning to enjoy life again. Very sweet and heartwarming.
I love how there was no need to even show how they met and got close in the first place, we could still feel their bond and believe their characters fully. It's not easy to start by showing the characters meet over and over again it gets repetitive and boring very easily, but they did it so well. I didn't skip even a second of the whole 2 hours it kept me interested the whole time.
I honestly don't have anything bad to say about it. It's very rare for me to simply be this pleased with something without there being much hype around it or falling in love with one single perfect aspect. It had everything you need, nothing extra.
Sure it's an office romance, but it wasn't really something they focused on it was just a way to have them meet often. Also they are grown men stuck to their routines so it's only natural to have them be at work a lot.
Mature story-line about finding joy in life and living it to the fullest no matter how old you are. About believing in yourself and finding your self-worth. Just my style.
They talked a lot about their age gap of 10 years (29 and 39) which to me personally wouldn't be a big deal especially at that age, but I get that to many it is and Mr. Nozue felt old already anyway.
Both actors surprised me, they nailed the roles. Tatsunari Kimura (Togawa) really got me with that big emotional scene. So much so that I had to take a break in the middle of it to calm down..
Something I will definitely be rewatching every once in a while!

4. 'Cause You're My Boy
Thai Drama - 2018, 12 episodes
One of the bigger holders of special places in my heart.
Obviously the production quality wasn't high. The acting is rough every now and then (the parts they filmed first), but the plot is what got me hooked. I'm a sucker for innocent and somewhat real life-like teen romance.
Maybe it needs 5 rewatches to see all the actually well thought parts of the plot I really don't know and can't remember the first time I saw it.
I don't think I can give you an honest review... What can I say, it's my comfort series.
Just give it a try.

5. A Tale of Thousand Stars
Thai Drama - 2021, 10 episodes
Refreshing and sweet.
Took me over a year to watch it after I tried and couldn't really get into it when it came out. Now that I've actually seen it I did end up liking a lot of things in it. It's not really my type of series, but I did still enjoy it.
I liked how they didn't go for the fantasy type of route where Tian would've actually been connected to Torfun because of the heart. Also the fact that Phupha never liked Torfun romantically.
There were some moments where I was left a bit confused by sudden changes in the characters emotions and such. I couldn't really find a reason for it sometimes.
And towards the end mr. grumpy kid (Phupha) did get on my nerves. Not as badly as others make it seem, but a bit yeah.
Overall though it was nice, sweet and emotional even. Cinematographically very pleasing too.
They all worked really hard for it.

6. Rak Diao
Thai Drama - 2022, 15 episodes
It's a sitcom who wouldn't like that!
Okay I guess some people don't, but I found it very refreshing and funny. It doesn't focus too much on the romance yet the story is built around it. Don't go watch it expecting anything you've seen before.
Also the OST is a freaking bop. Makes me happy every time.

(7 to me is good.)
It's average and I think you should still give it a watch.
I enjoyed watching it and I think it wasn't a waste of time, but it didn't blow my mind or anything.

First of all! Poly and Bi representation!
Apart from that, good acting and unique plot (at the time at least) it was pretty good. Left an impression on me for a while, but ultimately in the grand scheme of series and movies it was just that. Good.

10. Bad Buddy
Thai Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
It took me a while to warm up to it, but I did.
And I see where it had some good writing and such. There were a lot of great things it talked about actually.
However I do think it's just a little bit over-rated. Sure OhmNanon is a pair with good chemistly and great acting, but Bad Buddy as a series wasn't anything crazy good.
It was a good one.
GL is always a great plus!

I do not care that they didn't kiss. Honestly.
It's not necessary and it's been done many times.
I liked it for a longer while so I gave it a 7,5 instead of 7. The plot itself was a tad bit boring, but that's what GMM gives us these days. Gotta get used to it I guess.

Thai Special - 2020, 5 episodes
Totally unnecessary second season again for something that originally wasn't even THAT good.

13. Light
Taiwanese Movie - 2021
Only if it was longer... Not because I can't appreciate movies, but because it lacked plot.
After the beginning (of skipping through) I started to get intrested in the actual story, but it felt empty. I couldn't keep myself in it.
So much wasted potential, but that's how it sadly goes sometimes when there's not much budget.

14. The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese
Japanese Movie - 2020
Just like with "Light" it lacked plot. Not as much, but still enough to pull me out of the story.
The risqué and somewhat graphic scenes could be a stylistic choice and I don't hate it, but honestly they could've used the time, budget and effort to fill in the plot... I liked the overall mood a lot.
Too much unnecessary and too little necessary.
Again... Wasted potential.

15. 2 Moons
Thai Drama - 2017, 12 episodes
I'm hesitating to talk about this.
I won't judge a series because of one or two actors irl, but the acting and plot was bad too. I do understand they were all new and young actors so it's understandable, but also I have to take that into consideration when rating this.
Loved Ming&Kit (KimCop) though they were good.
I won't be saying more.
(I ask to not support the company by watching it tho. They have a history of sexually assaulting their actors and anti-gay casting. Earth is known to be one of the victims by both the cast and company.)

16. 2 Moons 2
Thai Drama - 2019, 12 episodes
It was better...
My only question is why did they do a second season? Was it already promised when the old cast was still there.
Story-wise it's pretty average, basic and good. Very 2019-esque.
Something about Earth and Ben just didn't sit right with me. Maybe the acting? Or the chemistry I really don't know.
The acting in general was better than in "2 Moons", plot slightly clearer and I did like the cast at the time.

Chinese Drama - 2016, 15 episodes
⚠️
(You might not like it and I understand that.)
Not all of it is bad.
Don't get me wrong I hate it, I really do. Just not as much as some people. That's because I understand why things were the way they were with Gu Hai. He grew up in a rich family, abused both emotionally and physically (His dad almost killed him many times in the books). It's no wonder he is the way he is and became unhealthily addicted to Bai Luo Yin. He has some serious mental health issues and honestly would've needed professional help as well. It was really tough for Bai Luo Yin to take that role in his life on top of being a loved one.
I never fully blame anyone for the things they do if it's because of what they've gone through. I don't excuse them, but I'm willing to go easy on them. The most important part in a story like this is the end result. How much has changed, have they talked things through, does it still happen and things like that.
Unfortunately the series never got finished... They had to leave A TON of scenes and the whole ending basically out of it. Season 2 also was never made even though there are two books by the author.
I have to admit the author is good at writing. They have a great balance of comedy and seriousness in the books and I really did enjoy reading them. Sadly...they are also extremely misogynistic and romanticize harassment and r*ape when it's between Gu Hai and Bai Luo Yin. That is literally the only thing I have to point out because it's NOT OKAY!
Buuuuut I won't judge it all because of that because there's a lot of good in both the series and the books, but especially the books. I suggest watching the series first before books so you won't be as disappointed. Just be careful..They're not for everyone.

20. Dew the Movie
Thai Movie - 2019
⚠️
I feel like I can't explain it well enough so I'll just say that it's good. Good, innocent and funny. Serious too.
(I heard that Nanon told Ohm that he had watched 'Dew the Movie' 3 times!)
I thought I wouldn't say this, but yes the ending did somewhat disappoint me. Not because it was bad, but because I was hoping it would keep a less fictional approach to the plot... (it's the writers vision and I respect that. I personally just find it not suitable with what the beginning was)
Many find the student-teacher relationship weird, but keep in mind that they never did anything even remotely sexual only one hug before
*spoiler*
their jump from the cliff at the end.
-
And he didn't like her because she was a kid, but because she was the reincarnation of the one he loved. Sure if you're someone who finds age-gaps in general weird, I get why you wouldn't like it. But that's your personal preference. It's not a reason to hate on a movie :)
(Just so y'all know the actor and actress don't actually have a big age-gap even though it looks like it. They were both very much adults)

I'll try to not be too harsh.
I'm glad that I watched Cutie Pie, but I did not like it that much. Sure some moments were nice and all, but overall it was just a mess that didn't make much sense to me. Forgot it pretty much immediately after it ended...
I feel as if they focused more on putting up these handsome actors on the screen.
The acting I'm not complaining about at all! Or the OST, both were great. Just the story itself didn't seem to plan out well even though the idea was there.

32. Dark Blue Kiss
Thai Drama - 2019, 12 episodes
One might complain about Pete and Kao's relationship as it doesn't seem to work out well, but do relationships in real life ever work out perfectly?
When you start out with the wrong foot it's difficult to go back and fix that. But that's what character developement is for.
I seriously honestly think Dark Blue Kiss is one of those average series that you still just for some reason can't forget. Nothing about it screams that it's amazing, but it's still so iconic and memorable...
I suggest going back to "Kiss" and "Kiss Me Again" maybe even "Our Skyy" as it might be easier to digest a relationship that has already been built, but is now falling apart.

36. Love Mechanics
Thai Drama - 2022, 10 episodes
Mixed feelings.. but I love it.
Cliché and cringe plot, but it's soooo cute, funny and emotional too. A bit of a rough start, but it got better.
Vee isn't as bad as people say he is. Obviously he had deep feelings for Ploy, first love type of feelings. At that age (and in general too) it's really hard to tell when you actually love someone and what's the right thing to do. He was in a tough situation too. It doesn't make all or any of his actions okay, but at least we can understand the reasoning behind them. Everyone deserves a second chance, a chance to show if they can change. And it's not like he fooled anyone, Mark knew what was going on. Mark too was way too easily affected by his feelings and wouldn't listen to others.
I know for a fact that Yin and War are great actors with amazing chemistry, it shows through here too. If they weren't the ones acting I don't think the series would've been even this good. Their chemistry is seriously something out of this world.
Now with that being said.. how should I rate the series if it's basically just for the actors that I wanted to stick around for. I'm not saying it was terrible. Absolutely not! Ugh I really don't know. Overall let's just say it was good and I liked it.
Tells how important it is to talk things through in any type of relationship.

I don't mind the age-gap. it's personal preference, but again not a reason to hate on a series. The whole story is a very simple one like what most GMM productions seem to be these days. That's why I thought I wouldn't like it that much, but I actually enjoyed it.

I like Kimmon and Copter a lot and I feel like they have so much potential, but this was just not it. The plot was basically fine, but something was either missing or things just didn't connect properly. With both "Gen Y" and Gen Y 2 unfortunately..
Mark&Kit (KimCop) weren't the worst though. The whole situation with Thanu and Wayu was just plain confusing. I get that fans were demanding a better ending for them in "Gen Y", but if you can't make it make sense then it's better to not do it at all.
Also they just made fans even more confused by having the same actors play different roles that have the same names. Even saying it like that sounds confusing.

To be honest I was between 8,5 and 9. Not that both of them aren't already extremely good, but there's a tiny difference.
I love I Told Sunset About You. It not only talks about things that aren't usually talked about anymore, but also in a way that isn't used often. The characters are some of the most realistic, human-like ones I've seen in a long time. For that we have to thank the writers and actors.
This is purely the production of hard work and dedication. That never fails.
The only reason why I won't give higher points is that first of all there's ALWAYS room for improvement and there's no such thing as perfect, but also the rewatch value on I Told Sunet About You is not as high as some others have been for me personally.

Light-hearted and funny mostly. It could keep a nice seriousness to it too.

Maybe it's because I haven't seen it in a while, but I think the story itself wasn't that bad.
Back when it came out the acting didn't seem that bad either however now that I look at it...It's bad. There's no chemistry either with pretty much any of the pairs.
This might be a bit of a personal opinion and I usually don't let it affect me, but in this case where most of the cast is awful I will say.. Don't watch it. They don't deserve anything more than they've gotten already..
Those who are good and did nothing wrong you can support by watching their other works instead.
Anyways as a series from that time it's okay I guess. Not really good and not super bad either.

Worse than the first season as per usual.
They were looking for a chance to get more money, not love. lol

73. Love's Coming
Thai Movie - 2014
It's a movie from 2014 you can't expect much.
It was better than expected which is why I though of giving it a 7,5. But after comparing the technical side of things like production in general from that time, this does fall a bit lower. That's why I kept it in 7,0.
The plot itself was actually pretty cute and wholesome. Just a bunch of teens messing around I guess. Nothing too groundbreaking, but I don't think it needs to be.
Having Mild in a main role is a plus.

Again just like with "Kiss" which this reminds me of, I was a tad bit intrested in the straight couples too, but the plot wasn't anything amazing.
Nice to see Pick&Rome instead of Khai&Third.

GMM outdid themselves.
For a thai series, from GMM and with gay characters this was amazing. This is what bl should be like when the main thing isn't just seeing gay men kiss. It shouldn't focus on the good looking actors and their NC scenes. It should focus on the plot! Like Not Me did.
It's nice to see a story be built around the characters personalities and past rather than fully around the relationships that just started. Also real life problems people face!
I personally like how Dan and Yok ended even if it was rather sad. No one in that relationship was wrong when you think about it. You can't blame someone for following their ideology and dreams, but you also can't blame someone for following what they've been taught and what they see as right. Some think Dan should've gone against the law as a police officer just because of love, but I see that as unrealistic and honestly dumb choice.
When you are in a place where you can't decide you just gotta do what you know best.

Mixed feelings!
It's very cringey and weird, but it's also good.
I never thought I would like SCOY, but I ended up enjoying it. A lot of the scenes and tropes vere very forced, but still made me laugh or at least interested. It had some good points and valid issues, but it's not something I'd ever watch again.
It's a good one to watch to have some laughs, but it might not suit everyone's taste.
