  • Blue Period

    1. Blue Period

    Japanese Movie - 2024

    7.5

whatever it is that drives me to pick up the live action adaptation first of all versions of a story when i make it a poINT to always see the original material first so that i can experience the story the way it was intended (by the creator)—id like a name for it.

but anyway—this wasn't a bad movie! i do think that a movie format for any written media that's long-running will always have to sacrifice this and that to make it within the 2hr limit but eh. i dont think that like, rlly took away the core message of the movie and the mc, yatora's, growth through the lens of art. it does make the characters around him more so supporting tools than real characters w their own stories; they did try to give as much time as possible to fumiya's yuka but its true that they dont have the means to fully develop yuka onscreen. nvm mori and that limp hair meanie from the prep school.

i think every adaptation of a story deserves to be appreciated as its own media (i.e., movies are different to shows are different to books are different to comics are different to animation, etc. etc. etc.) and whether you like one more than the other is a personal opinion so with that said, i liked it! i thought it was fun and easy and even tho it didn't feel enough/fleshed out, it was still emotional and thought-provoking. honESTLy i feel like a lot of that also has to do w gordon maeda's performance here. his bored expressions have captivated me (genuine). found myself rooting for this guy and loved seeing his improvement. as a fellow art lover, this was just a joy to see regardless.

fumiya is also very very pretty. a part of me wishes the character's lives were a bit more intertwined so the character dynamics and relationships felt a bit stronger and more emotional when they come together or grow together but it was nice to see yatora and yuka form a friendship through their shared love of art (and how mori's art inspired yatora to find his own).

  • Battle of Marriage

    2. Battle of Marriage

    Hong Kong Drama - 2024, 20 episodes

    5.0

sick to my stomach the mental gymnastics i went thru trying to parse what the FUCK the agenda was driving this drama could be an olympic sport JUST for it to be the most unoriginal, boring, lacklustre, reductive Attempt at feminism i have ever seen in my life LMFAO. tell me, what new inspired fresh point does this bring to the discussion? don't give up your life just to tend to your husband and kids? dont fight other women for men? as a woman you should love yourself?? as a woman you should have your own thots and opinions and dreams and ambitions?? if this drama was a search engine it'll be internet explorer.

ik feminism may be at an all time low and ppl Surely are flooring it backwards but these are things that have already been said and done thru countless of mediums for YEARS and this drama just felt like a cheap (and awful) regurgitation of those sentiments that doesnt actually provide any new or nuanced perspectives. yeah, ik there are subgrps of women who might be hearing them for the first time but this drama is NOT the model for that LMAO like ok woman is betrayed by her husband and gains the courage to rebuild her career and live her own life, where did she get that courage from? aNOTHER MAN TELLING HER. DONT MAKE ME LAUGH.

paired w the slapstick comedy and the story just comes across disingenuous and unserious. them trying to be meta w the swapped roles felt like a poor attempt at self-awareness and just came across as contrived and corny. and to be very honest this felt like cheating apologism for 15 eps and anti-divorce propaganda for the last 5. the resolution being jinny and winki finding new men like? must a woman always need a man to be realised. jeez.

this being unintentional commentary on male celebs who build their image around loving their wives to appeal to the female crowd when they're actually misogynistic cheating scumbags is ironically funny.

do NOT get me started on the frankly pointless n pathetic use of ai that added nothing to the story.

  • The Double

    3. The Double

    Chinese Drama - 2024, 40 episodes

    8.0

    1. "xue fangfei is the most talented woman in the capital" yES SHE FUCKING IS!!! ik that noggin of hers runs on twice the speed of the average person, who is raw dogging two revenge plots and dismantling a massive rebellion brewing for almost a decade like her??? that's my fc!! when she was not onscreen i lose 70% of my ability to concentrate. wu jinyan is a phenomenal actress she didn't eat she Gobbled, she has one of the most captivating eyes ive ever seen.

    2. i love every one of xff's monologues, esp the ones with syr where her barbs are so thinly veiled she might as well as tell him outright she was his wife. just the way she uses his betrayal against him, baiting him into succumbing to her bc she knows he is Guilty. their scenes are brilliant bc all those wretched emotions between them had to be disguised behind formal pleasantries but their Eyes... their rls is sooo well-written.

    3. another thing this show did well was make its bg characters rlly likeable like the annual exam team and the ye family. even zhao qi(?) the guy they tried to sic jiang li onto to marry her off became weirdly endearing siding w xff to con her ex LOL.

    4. everyone in here is just Really good at acting, even side charas were Performing. jiang yuanbai was a shit dad but he is an excellent crier.

    5. princess wanning was so incredibly chaotic and outlandish and makes Such an excellent villain. i found myself disliking her but was super invested in her at the same time. i love how she (literally) dances on ppl's misery she's so full of joy and whimsy and So unapologetic. it is so hard being a woman, i would've done the same. her and xff would've been so powerful, we could've had toxic yuri !!

    5. two fav scenes off top: (1) the guqin scene, i cried, and (2) the drum scene. i love the theme of family and community and sisterhood in this show. i love family.

    6. killing off two fan favs in the last ten mins of the show was diabolical that was so random lmfao.

  • Kamen Rider Amazons

    4. Kamen Rider Amazons

    Japanese Drama - 2016, 13 episodes

    7.5

so walking into this with zero know or understanding of the kamen rider franchise was a Choice and certainly an experience but . well.

i had fun LMAO. like the cgi and the 2 stagnant camera angles and zero fucking visibility, what the hell sure i guess! it was short and concise enough that i didnt have time to get Bored but 90% of the show is just fighting anyway. i did find the last couple of battles anticlimactic as hell tho esp the one between haruka and jin, respectfully nobody gaf. and this seems to be a unanimous thing but i was mostly invested in the extermination team and their shenanigans, when it cut to other perspectives i found my attention waning. mamoru was the glue that held them together so understandably they were gonna fuck him over eventually and i eat it up Every Time—misaki stopping fuku from shooting mamoru when he just lost a whOle arm and the team getting back together again simply bc they wanted to find mamoru and bring him home. exquisite!! thank you!!!

i did think it was funny when haruka and jin were brawling and the team was like "who tf do we back up" but as soon as jin rounded on mamoru they Locked The Fuck In D: haruka is part of the team too the favouritism is insane. idk why shido keeps arguing w haruka over their moral philosophies when they literally have the same idea?? both align with keEPING MAMORU SAFE. like ok haruka's range is wider but the team's double standard is just hypocritical, if u think mamoru deserves to live bc hes never eaten anyone (and he Has, now lol) then its the same w haruka's agenda about non-maneating amazons (except he was completely chill w the cannibal restaurant members so...ESH lol)

jin on the other hand has the clearest motive but its a bullshit one so i've elected to ignore it. i find the moral conundrums in this show kinda silly anyway bc the writing is clunky but for its Obvious budget i can understand.

not sure i enjoy the robotic looks of these amazons tho arent they supposed to be bugs?

  • Kamen Rider Amazons Season 2

    5. Kamen Rider Amazons Season 2

    Japanese Drama - 2017, 13 episodes

    7.5

unironically balls-deep in the tumblr trenches of kr amazons just to get a scrap of additional content,,

unfortunately i am one with the gp where i hold zero affections nor interest in chihiro and iyu so every time the story panned back to them it was a Chore to get thru. i audibly groaned every time. louder when JIN popped up. still hate that man but he was just Exhausting to watch here w all the fumbling and grumbling. the new cast, while adding a new layer to the Big Moral Conundrum, were personally boring and unlikeable or just had nothing to do (nagase). im not a big fan of chihiro either but kurosaki takes the cake for guy who elicited the most eye-rolls this season. and Jin is Right there.

im sorry but am i supposed to be on the humans' side?? amazons are inherently carnivores and they derive the most nutrition from humans. yeah mamoru's plan is bioterrorism if you're a human, to him he's just fighting to suRVIVE. eating is surviving, its not a choice. this whole thing is a war for survival, the only reason why it's a moral conundrum is bc amazons Look like humans and have empathy towards them whereas humans ironically Do Not. over and over we see amazons generalised and dehumanised and vilified—yet in s1, a whole ass serial killer was given mercy just bc he was Human. in what way except biological? im not saying humans were wrong for retaliating—but after creating and weaponising and using amazons for their own gain the callousness w which they treat the amazons is honestly disgusting.

anyway. the real tragedy is mamoru and the exterm team. this was the only rls formed btwn amazon and human that remained 'untainted' until the end—they loved mamoru So much. shido telling him they couldn't let him go even after realising they couldn't help him anymore?? fuku tearfully admitting they shouldn't have abandoned him after having to kill his own mother BC of mamoru's actions?? the charred coin being the only thing left of mamoru? HELLO?? immaculate work.

  • A Man Who Defies the World of BL

    6. A Man Who Defies the World of BL

    Japanese Special - 2021, 1 episode

    7.0

    okay yuri version next.

no bc why is everyone and their mothers in this show helppp every five mins i was like ariana????? yall are rlly lucky being gay for pay im out here gay for free smfh. also they actually kiss in here??? granted they're vanilla ass kisses but im so used to the silly quivering eyes, one-armed bro-hugs, and barely brushed hands that when i saw the lIP LOCKING i was like wow who would have thought. girls next.

anyway this was fun ngl if i was mob id be scared too, wdym lesbians dont exist.

  • A Man Who Defies the World of BL Season 2

    7. A Man Who Defies the World of BL Season 2

    Japanese Special - 2022, 1 episode

    6.5

respectfully i do not care about mob's love interest like i dont even remember his name i think they should add more men to the ayato harem instead bc that shit is funny as fuck why is everyone in love w him.

anyway i cant believe ryouta cheated on toma what the fuck man???????? HE COOKS FOR YOU.

  • Idol Shikkaku

    8. Idol Shikkaku

    Japanese Drama - 2024, 12 episodes

    6.5

i decided to sit on this for a few days before writing anything bc it was such an abrupt finale and also bc i was hustling my ass off but maybe that was a bad idea bc now i dont remember anything lol.

huge fan of jdrama conciseness its so easy to watch and take in and takes like 2 business days to finish, truly avoids burnout and the phenomenon of forgetting ur watching somn and then never visiting it again BUT i do think that largely limits the depiction of the story bc this felt choppy (again, sorry lol) and kinda vague? idk like i feel like character monologues or motivations(?) could be clearer? theres a lot of things unsaid and while thats ok given that the running time is so short it feels like there are missing scenes. even the dialogue felt sparse and quiet and empty? dont get me wrong i had fun but the drama can feel a little shallow so the rls and overall story doesnt leave much of an impression unfortunately.

the actors did a good job tho. yamamika's portrayal of mimika is subtle and quiet but i could feel her exhaustion thru the screen. she's quite natural for such a green actress. kobaryo is pleasantly good at portraying a socially awkward depressed pathetic nerd and its safe to say he has quite the range. keita and mimika are pre cute for how fast their rls develops but it Is pretty glaring their age gap lol.

something thats been sitting w me is when mimika and keita meet for the last time and keita tells her he was only getting w her for her idol status to stroke his ego—i couldnt tell if he was being genuine or not. my first understanding of it was that he was lying so mimika would forget him and continue being an idol and it seemed that way as their convo continues but a part of me is also like, is he also admitting an ugly truth to his affections bc he has his own problems? guess we'll never know. but they do seem to love each other a lot and i am sad that they dont get to be w each other more.

  • Zettai BL ni Naru Sekai VS Zettai BL ni Naritakunai Otoko 2: Behind the Scenes

why did i never clock that mob was wearing a wig this whole time

  • Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!
    8.0

i have to admit this wasnt rlly working on me in the beginning but as i kept watching im afraid it ate the house down boots houston texas and i say that w my entire chest. they're cute!!! sorry akaso eiji for doubting you LOL its honestly so funny (to me) watching 80% of this, pausing to do other things, forgetting i was watching this, losing the motivation to watch this, watching kamen rider amazons, seeing him play a silly reckless teen in s2 and then going back to cherry magic and seeing him play a clumsy 30yo virgin who falls in love with a man no less Thee karube from aib— like.

its less funny for machida keita bc everyone and their mothers has seen aib but hOW MANY PPL CAN SAY THEY SAW KR AMAZONS???? no less s2 the season nobody fucking likes!!! (i liked it but thats none of anyone's business). anyway i just thought that was fun and idk it rlly elevated my experience watching the last two episodes of cherry magic, which is arguably when all the cute shit happens (?)

ngl bc i saw the anime first i was shocked they had a break up era in this but i just thot it was so funny how it cut to adachi waking up in bed after the break up, he narrates that his life went back to normal and then the camera pans to the calendar anD ITS LITERALLY ONLY BEEN A DAY LMFAO DRAMATIC ASS TWINK he was acting like its been wEEKS. adachi is funny as hell. and then when kurosawa got on one knee i deadass thot they were gonna elope bc theyve only been dating for like a few months but then he whipped out two fountain pens and i was like ???? theyre made for each other, your honour.

both akaso eiji and machida keita gobbled their roles i fear i totally understand why they blew up overnight lol. machida keita genuinely looks like he is a lover of men and whether thats true or not is still a testament to his acting chops.

this is irrelevant but fujisaki looked SO cute during the fireworks scene like im obsessed w her ugh my beautiful queen.

  • Valentine's Day / Rokkaku

    11. Valentine's Day / Rokkaku

    Japanese Special - 2020, 1 episode

    7.5

adorable. huge fan of couples cheesing out over each other doing the most mundane things (from a strictly audience watching a tv show perspective). its the way kurosawa is super possessive of adachi bc he thinks hes a great catch lmaoo. like his first thought upon seeing the chocolate in adachi's cabinet is that someone has a crush on his bf and not that his bf wants to give him chocolates????? ?? silly man, he's such a giver. has he ever thought about receiving lol no that wasnt a euphemism this guy's love language is like gift giving and acts of service.

the kohai's perspective adds a fun layer to the story but respectfully no one cares LMAO like he literally has gay friends why is he so dense ?

  • Tsuge & Minato

    12. Tsuge & Minato

    Japanese Special - 2020, 1 episode

    7.0

unfortunately i did not feel the same for this couple RIP LOL i think they're alright like i dont Not like them but i dont particularly care either like its ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ to me. i do think the casting was on point tho bc they're supposed to be an age gap couple and minato's actor Certainly has the babiest of baby faces i was shocked to find out he was 26 lol i thot he was in his early twenties; he also looks a lot like the original minato design which i was pleasantly surprised to see. its been a hot minute since i saw cherry magic the anime so i dont remember much about tsuge buT i do remember he wasnt quite as animated as LA tsuge. idk how i feel about this actor's performance; it's not Bad per se it just feels like he's the only one treating the show like a pure sitcom while everyone else is in their romcom modes LOL idk anyway he had me putting my head in my hands so many times due to SHEER embarrassment this man has NEVER chill'd out a day in his life good god. he causes a scene everywhere he goes orz ??

compared to adachi and kurosawa, this couple is a lot more touchy feely and has raunchier scenes (note: raunchy is a hyperbole in this context). that is to say i Am taking the piss out of the silly fake-out elevator kiss scene between adachi and kurosawa do they know these two are canonically married LOL gimme that kiss ive seen zettai BL, ik kisses are possible! kurosawa and adachi have only just hit kissing territory but these two have already fucked so—good for them, those scenes were actually funny as hell. i also love their cat.

this special episode was kinda forgettable to me ngl i found myself thinking i wanted to see kurosawa and adachi more RIP. somn about this couple feels a little off to me but i cant put my finger on it. but thats not to say i dont like them i just dont feel anything <3

  • Our Dining Table

    13. Our Dining Table

    Japanese Drama - 2023, 10 episodes

    7.5

so i spedran the manga in two hours flat and was like i need to get my grubby hands on the physical volume but when i googled it this came up so i was like ok might as well and so here we are.

it was cute!1!!1 i think, overall, the casting was spot on, especially the aesthetics. inukai has a suspiciously good streak of blending into his manga representatives or maybe he just weirdly suits that thick-bangs-manga-do idk. he was weaponising the fuck out of those bunny teeth and fat aegyosals tho good for him good for him. throughout the show i keep thinking back on this one review on reddit that ripped inukai to shreds over his performance of yutaka and i found myself trying to see if i agreed w their sentiments or not. now that im done w the show honestly...idk LOL. i dont think he was as aWFUL as they seemed to appraise but i do think he can come off a bit unnatural(?) at times. but idk if that is like, a trait of jpnese acting that im just too new to the culture to understand but . yeah. honestly i had the same feeling about him in zettai BL where it didnt seem like he was all the way there—ok, if machida keita sits on one end of the bl acting spectrum then inukai kinda sits on the other end, thats the best way i can describe it rn. i think its a bit obvious that hes Acting isall. but im not too fussed bc i dont think it significantly impacted my experience w the show. i do think minoru's actor was more natural but he also had a more straightforward character to play so...it's nbd.

while i am definitely manga-biased despite its conciseness, i do appreciate the show fleshing out the characters, their rls, and their backstories a bit more. it gave us closure for yutaka's family situation that we dont rlly get to see in the manga n we also get to see yutaka and minoru spend more time together and actually go on a date. idk i had fun, i cheesed out, i enjoy shows w little kids flitting in the bg bc i think its so cute and cozy and homey and wholesome.

  • Our Dining Table Spin Off

    14. Our Dining Table Spin Off

    Japanese Special - 2023, 1 episode

    7.0

gonna be real honest here kids, i was expecting this to be an adaptation of the time-skip chapter where we get to see grown up tane turns out its just the token family vacay episode?? what the hell sure i guess!

HONESTLY a big reason why i rlly like the manga is bc of the rls yutaka builds with minoru THROUGH tane. how much tane dotes on yutaka and is suuuppperr attached to him and how you could see yutaka help the ueda family just as they help him—that mutual connection and affection is most obvious through lil tane bc hes just a baby! and i just liked how you keep seeing him vie for yutaka's attention in the bg and how he clearly biases yutaka over his brother in the final chapter (who practically raised him at this point!) is just so cute and funny and he rlly makes the story for me like im a sucker for stories about child rearing for a bitch who does NOT want to rear children ever but yeah i feel like tane is a very important player in the rls between minoru and yutaka too bc a big part of why minoru loved yutaka is bc yutaka loves his family as much as He loves his family. the lil actor was cute and definitely delivered but you could also like RLLY tell he was uhhhh waiting to deliver his lines lol. and his mannerisms are obviously coached i mean hes a baby it makes sense which actually kinda leads me to think perhaps an animation might've been a more rounded adaptation?? who's to say. anyway this was still cute.

what confused me tho is when minoru tried to ask yutaka if he was cheating on him and when he was like r u...dating...(ohata)? and yutaka was like...date...who? moTHERFUCKER ARENT YOU DATING EACH OTHER!?!@!? WHY ARE WE ACTING LIKE WE HAVEN'T ALREADY GOTTEN 2GETHER ?? that was so bizarre to me. like he was acting jealous in the way one would before they got to bag their crush ?? yall slept together hand in hand wdym. anyway yeah happy for the couple glad to know they are foreVER and ever!!!!

everyone go read the manga rn.

  • Make Up with Mud

    15. Make Up with Mud

    Japanese Drama - 2024, 9 episodes

    6.5

girl if you dont kill ur bf—two things:

    1) not a big fan of how they framed the conflict surrounding haru. i get that nuance exists in all circumstances but i feel like the way they wrote a "sympathetic" side to his actions almost underplayed the severity of his behaviour as if im supposed to give him grace for being a narcissistic chauvinistic cuck. there are tonnes of ppl with childhood trauma and attachment issues, do you see Them going out there and abusing their partners? why are we acting like he did those things on a whim or without conscious thot as if he didnt know exactly what he's doing? him reflecting on his actions at the end when his stepbro gives him a pep talk like its something he just realised is so insane to me. and how they gave him a hopeful little wrap-up like im supposed to clap and be happy for him? idc that your mom had an affair, you saw the bullshit ur dad was giving her and expected her to STAY??? grow the fuck up. why the fuck are you trying to get me to feel bad for an abuser?? i thot he was going to kiLL her w all that crazy monologuing and rabid eyes. this is not just a Whoopsie Made An Oopsie!! its honestly frustrating how much grace the fucking characters give this man bc everything he did was Calculated Evil!!!! i hate it when they try to make you care about the feelings of oppressors or abusers like fuck them!!!!

    2) miku and eve are cute but honestly i do not buy the romance lmfao. so much time was spent on trying to rein in the rabid dog that is her ex that we got barely any development for the main two's rls. eve's affections for miku almost felt like instalove and miku suddenly reciprocating his feelings at the end was . well obviously just for closure. ik they have a short running time but it does seem like they were a bit overambitious w the kind of story they wanted to tell given their limits. i do enjoy the overall message and the performances but i cant say this left much of an impact on me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Yawao to Katako

    16. Yawao to Katako

    Japanese Drama - 2023, 8 episodes

    6.5

this was fun but i must say, it Is deeply frustrating being reminded of how brAINWASHED a patriarchal society does to a motherfucker (♀). i enjoy and appreciate the overall message of loving yourself, you are the best you, yada yada but im not sure they really moved outside the confines of "you Need a partner in order to be complete" sentiment idk. fujiko's self-deprecation thru the perspective of male attention/attraction was frustrating and sad to watch but i could see that her story is about moving awAY from that mindset. idk whether that's actually done well but i do appreciate that she grows more confident and becomes kinder to herself. but then the whole mojomaru side arc had me putting my head in my hands as its quite blatant that kiyoka was Settling, like just as long as she had anyone it was fine—if it wasnt bc that guy was also a cheater i cant say she still wouldnt be w him. even her wrap up felt like she just jumped onto the next person who showed interest in her. this desperation for a man to rid oneself of this "mojo" label and getting married and having kids still sits very much in that trad wife/trad family ideation, “everyone Should get married eventually” thing and ??? like i Do see that the characters develop and improve and grow to accept and love themselves more but im not sure that message of being "different" or "going against the grain and thats ok" is fully realised.

koyanagi adds that nuance to the "being normal" sentiment as an effeminate bi man in a conservative society which i think is nice given that if he didn't have those experiences, him helping fujiko would just come across as patronising cismale bs. i do think miura shohei did an excellent job of portraying koyanagi in a sincere manner, not coming across like a caricature or the butt of a joke. his performance was very cute and natural. i also rlly liked his story and it complements fujiko well. they make a good couple.

  • Tokimeki Bakudan

    17. Tokimeki Bakudan

    Japanese Drama - 2024, 6 episodes

    6.0

as i balanced on my tailbone speedrunning this, i kept getting this nostalgic but foreboding sense of deja vu in the back of my mind before it hit me: super star academy. truly all men must start Somewhere (the dark pits of low budget narratively-nonsensical cartoonishly slapstick...shows)—xiao zhan did it, you will too kobaryo !!fighting!!

anyway. uhh. when i say this took me over 8hrs to watch i meant that with utmost sincerity, the sheer amount of times i had to pause just to take a breather bc my bones were Quaking is !! i am not easily an experiencer of secondhand embarrassment bc thats not my problem but this drama truly brought new sensations to my nervous system, knees shaking, sweat breaking, hair on end, imma recommend this to my friend—kidding i would take this to the grave. i watched the mha you're next movie like two days ago—this is actually relevant—and when i was scrolling thru letterboxd, i saw one review that said “watching this in the theatres felt like being given back ur virginity" and ykno what, that's kinda the feeling i had watching this—

no, bc if i had to describe this in one word it would be <questionmarks>. it’s giving high school imovie project (non-derogatory). what's crazier is the amount of pussy the cast was popping acting the house down—i felt like a mEAN person covering my face as they were crying screaming sobbing throwing up over the most insanely HUH?? events and i knOW thats the point buT HOW IS NO ONE LAUGHING!!! takeshi naoki and kobaryo had real tears in their eyes im dead.

if i had to nominate the most insane scene it would be when kakutani was crashing out and they started replicating the childbirth procedure. he Rlly sold that monumental experience that I started crashing out too. put this man in an omegaverse bl what are yall do—[gunshots]. the runner up is when maruno transcended his traumatic brain injury thru the power of love. see how f@ggotism can save lives. the church dk shit.

  • Kamen Rider Amazons - The Last Judgment

    18. Kamen Rider Amazons - The Last Judgment

    Japanese Movie - 2018

    6.0

ngl i didnt plan on watching this bc mamoru already croaked so there wasnt much of the story i was personally invested enough in to be wasTING my time on a 2hr flick buT!!! i found that i was compelled for the nth time to rewatch the show so i was like might as well see how this all ends and! well. that was something.

    1) 99% of this movie is a competition between haruka and jin on who could reach the Highest fuckin decibel. thanks to them, i used to think you rlly needed to put your entire pussy into the "amazon" verbal cue but s2 showed me via chihiro that you could just simply Say the fuckin word. whisper it even. lol. once again i do Nawt gaf whenever haruka and jin clash. their fights about who is right and wrong blah blah are sooo tired.

    2) idk why they keep adding new charas and plot threads instead of uhhh wrapping up the old shit lmfao. mizuki and her mom still have nothing to do. all her mom ever does is stare into the distance w her bob and deranged smile. every time kurosaki is onscreen he acts like he's the coolest edgiest mfker and that is just simply not true. him and his ipad wielding sidekick think theyre sAUR nonchalant and quirky. fuku is still immaculate eye candy but i had to deduct pts for saving kurosaki let that man die istg. the chief being able to walk after what chihiro did to him??? chihiro you had one fuckin job.

    3) the only good parts of this movie was seeing my extermination team <3 and how much they still miss mamoru aw. that damn coin necklace is getting tired but i eat it up every time love to see it!! i like that theyre not treating him like some throwaway chara despite being deader than dead, it shows Continuity! they're clearly still mourning him even when it’s been 2yrs

    4) the amazon farm thing Is a new interesting aspect to the discourse but once again they barely fleshed it out. ik mamoru is Rolling in his grave tho.

    5) jin iS FINALLY FUCKING DEAD. I LIED THATS THE OTHER GOOD THING. HALLE FUCKING LUJAH

  • Shiawase Kanako no Koroshiya Seikatsu

    19. Shiawase Kanako no Koroshiya Seikatsu

    Japanese Drama - 2025, 6 episodes

pleasantly enough, despite the super short running time restricting pretty much any sort of meaningful and impressionable character and story writing, the comic sketchy style of the show makes it a fun easy brain food watch which is exactly what i need when im sitting down to have my meals so i ate that up (literally). i found myself laughing out loud multiple times, which isnt much of a feat given the sort of person that i am (easy), but thats always a good sign nonetheless yada yada. i am With the crowd here about the show being too short!! silly shows like this shine more when they are ongoing with 234023 eps like back in them old sitcom days so the story feels a bit more substantial. streaming has truly killed real tv lol.

anyway, technicalities aside, i am quite fond of the cast especially the main duo but the main actor has an uncanny and unpleasant resemblance to the looks of one park seojoon, who i am less fond of so that was something. fortunately, fujigaya taisuke plays sakurai with a certain weird charm that i am able to separate the artist from...the other artist. it Is pretty funny that he consistently looks like he just left squid games. and on that trail of lookalikes, there were so many angles where non looks like bae suzy too.

i first saw shiono akihisa in zettai bl so it was nice to see a familiar face again even tho he does play a perpetually unblinking assassin. i believe him when he said he loved kanako :(

a running gag i particularly enjoy is the confetti that plagues omori whenever her crush on her partner is suggested. loved the meta of her standing up and dusting it away as takehara questions her about it in the finale.

i also rlly enjoyed kanako and sakurai's friendship or whatever they have going on. its cute to see kanako being able to understand sakurai even without his verbal responses (not that hes super keen to give her any, or anyone for that matter). they're a cute pair. they suit each other.

    1. technically speaking, this was better than the invisibles in terms of pacing and overall writing (the bar is Very low) but precisely bc this was just like a revamped ver of that show i doxxed the half mark lmfao. 100% of the tropes and plot lines used here are actually reminiscent of afwfw which came out in 2016!!! that means boon has NOT improved over the last decade!!! he literally only has the One idea, One cast combination, and One plot development. the only improvement here was tiffany and joel being paired with other ppl for once but that was quickly nulled bc both pairings were absolute dog shit.

    2. i hate the way fc's are dressed in this mfker's shows. the way tiffany has to constantly flaunt her body is objectifying. i do admire that she is very toned and fits the aesthetic of a skilled fighter but i wonder how she feels about the nonsense of playing a chara who works in a heavily tactical field but always has to dress minimally. they did this to moon in the invisibles too. also, the girls having their hair down during all the fight scenes so they could blow wind into it is so fuckin cheesy. just like slapping eye liner, hair gel, and black attire on the chara who's revealed to be the final boss :/

    3. WHY is boon so obsessed with sexual violence??? its in EVERY SINGLE ONE OF HIS SHOWS. and he even threw in statutory rape here for shits and gigs???

    4. i predicted everything that would happen before i even started the show and thats due to Zero personal skill of my own <3

    5. the rls drama was so fuckin contrived and it went on foreVER. all i got from all that was that tiffany and owen have rlly upped their crying game.

    6. boring ass characters with very little development making it absolutely Impossible to become attached even if ur Trying

    7. karl ting's chara is Awful here. sexist.

    8. owen unintentionally killing everyone's parents is unironically funny.

    2. unironically, while No One is spared from peak mid 2000s dumpster fire fashion (/positive), hanazawa rui's look Actually Genuinely drove me the most insane not only is he always dressed like he's terminally ill, he also constantly has to look at other characters from a 45 degree angle every time he talks to them bc he cant see SHIT through the dried remains of that MANE im yelling "MOVE UR BANGS" every time he graces the screen

    3. you know its bad if youre more peeved by literally any other character than domyoji just on principle bc genuinely makino's family is so annoying lmfaoo bar the fact that theyre constantly pimping her out, they're so bland as individuals they essentially exist as one entity not to mention they are loud AND unfunny.

    4. i can excuse pitting women against each other for the attention of men but i draw the line at that attention being domyoji's lets be SRS HIS ONLY REDEEMING QUALITY IS RICH AND STUPID AND EASY TO SCAM???

    5. sakurako(?)'s actress's bulging eyes really get me <3

    22. Marry My Dead Body

    Taiwanese Movie - 2022

    8.0

and That's how you start queer month!!

its been like two weeks since i saw this w my friend highkey i forgot to write a review and lowkey i forgot most of what i was thinking while watching the movie but i know i enjoyed it a lot!! it was just fun and quirky, light and easy. good for the brain good for the soul that kind of thing. the humour was so peak asian comedy that i felt nostalgic! but a lot of the gags were Actually funny, at least to me, from maomao's clumsiness n knack for reading the situation Wrong (whereby mc deals with the brunt of the consequences) to the completely stupid punchlines (e.g., mc being maomao's dog in the past life). most of the movie's humour is making fun of itself and preying on the audience's expectation for it to be a complete cliche given its premise and both of these factors work together to make the jokes unpredictable and unironically original. while it is typical of asian movies to eventually culminate into huhu's from the haha's, i was surprised that the movie consistently commits to its unseriousness, like when maomao tries to pavlov mc to avoid a bullet; even when the charas were in distress, the movie still tries to be funny despite it not being convincing in context whatsoever.

this was just silly goodness!! im afraid the peeps clenching their buttcheeks over uhhh "not romanticising homophobia" are Actually Simply Too Woke. like this is a movie about a cop getting into a forced marriage w a gay environmental activist ghost like it could get anymore unserious. that said, mc calling maomao his husband when he was in the ambulance half dead actually transcended the romantic spectrum; twas the most romantic non-romantic thing ever. and now he's genuinely their son in law lmfao.

anyway, maomao's actor ate down. the actress also did super well!! i Loved the twist. maomao's dad's actor also did an excellent job. the tiny details about him using sustainable cutlery and bags when he ordered food broke my heart <3

    Japanese Movie - 2023

    5.0

the downgrade from wholesome sad old virgin BL to not wholesome sad old virgin shounen slop yall...his range. lmfao.

this movie did Nawt need to be 2hrs long <3 half of it was nothing happening and added Zero value to the overall plot. i feel like its meant to be a commentary on capitalism which, fair, but given that none of the characters were particularly endearing or likeable or had any depth i kinda...dont give a fuck lmfao. the humour also didnt land for me i fear, like we get it, he was so overworked, a literal zombie apocalypse was better than having to go to work, haha, its so uninspired.

but tbh, even if the message was unoriginal and corny, i think this still could've worked as a silly little flick if only the characters were more ?? root-for-able? like they just felt like plastic figures im sorry: akira the mc is the shounen-favourite naive, kind, heart-before-head guy that's supposed to be inspiring except he was so stupid that he kinda didnt rlly do anything except infuriate his audience. his friend is the typical ladies' man who seems to have his shit together but is actually a snivelling coward. the girl is...a baddie. that's all lol. that hardheaded, stubborn woman who believes lone wolf is better than heavy pack but thru the power of friendship and a man learns heart and empathy <3 the joke here is that the man has empathy. just complete cliche caricatures w nothing fresh.

dont get me started on that stupid, no-nuance moral idea where you have to pop ur pussy and risk your life for everyone including the evil heartless dictator who's been getting others killed to save themselves. a Real hero would step on the body after letting the zombie shark have its meal. and speaking of, akira crossing out "become a hero and save everyone" after saving like 5 ppl...that is Not everyone homeboy.

the only good part of this damn movie was shizuka's random mahou shoujo moment bc...ok!

they saw miura shohei in this movie and then casted him in yawao to katako lol.

erm. i mean sure i guess?? i've actually read the manga like twice now so i feel like having that rlly pieced this movie together bc why did everything here happen in like two in-verse hours lmfaoooo thirty minutes in i was like damn i wanna do something else. anyway. this movie hates shishio LOL like all the lore to excuse his actions in the manga was completely omitted here lauGH OUT LOUD AGAIN they were like nah this dude just straight up crosses boundaries w a minor, leads her on, invites her out on a date, and then tries to come onto her all for shits and giggles.

aside from that i am glad they got rid of that poverty stricken senpai that got w yuyuka like this movie was long enough adios minos.

the skinship in this movie is soooo awkward the one time i thot it was relatively okay they changed the angle and mamura had his entire forearm wrapped around suzume's head like what is he on??????? its funnier when u realise she like, never hugs or kisses him back lmfao.

suzume's actress is such good casting she looks like a real life cartoon character. i think she also did the role pretty well. everyone else...well, sugohaesseo. ye. adieu.

  • Good Boy

    Korean Drama - 2025, 16 episodes

    7.0

this worked for me right up to ep 8 and then the pacing got fucked a bit in the ass after the timeskip so understandably it began dragging. buT:

    1) the humour worked for me lol. i mean when i saw heo sangtae i was like wow we're about to watch real comedy fjherhieuh i love that guy. hes always playing villain roles so its nice to see him in stupid loser dad role every once in a while. and by villain i mean that one movie i can never remember the name of where they played life'n'death go Nawt s*uid g*me.

    2) character writing here tis a bit weak but i like that the main group has impeccable chemistry. its just so fun to see them all have their own thing that they're super skilled in and get to weaponise together as a group

    3) "bogum and sangyi had better chemistry than bogum and sohyun" pack it up!!!

    4) as an mctna fan, even i found dongju's invincible head hilarious. w that said, im also amused that its such a Big factor to ppl's dislike for this show. this is a show where a bunch of failed athletes ("failed" being they won bronze instead of gold) becoming cops and then calling themselves Heroes for it......it could not get any more unsrs and i mean that in a bad way lol. they couldve ended the show w the slogan "you look good in blue! ;)" and i would not be shocked, lets turn our brains off for this one, guys

    5) while it is quite blatant the writers do Nawt like women, i personally enjoy ji hanna simply bc of how much she hates the commissioner lmfaooo literally finds any opportunity to shoot that guy. shes also just really cool

    6) oh jungse is an excellent actor and gives min juyeong a lot of justice for how inherently silly that character is.

    7) the most unrealistic part of this show is actually dongju's unashamed freedom despite being on Two wanted lists.

    8) love that they didnt kill our bald gay criminal. sad that they killed our russian gay criminal.

overall okay. exactly what youd expect from copaganda (thumbs up)

  • Fangs of Fortune

    Chinese Drama - 2024, 34 episodes

    >:( so not even an hour after finishing this drama i found out the director was a serial plagiariser w rape allegations so i cant, in good conscience, rate this fuckass show LOL but ngl im relieved to not have to bc im not too sure where i stand w this haaa ha ha haaa

fof fans sort of treat this like a censored bl adjacent of sorts and that has been wedging this weird icky feeling in my chest that i couldnt put a finger on the whole time. at some point i was like ?? am i a homophobic homo?? there was somn about zyz/zyc rls that just...didnt do anything for me. rather i was feeling a bit resentful of it bc it implicitly made wx’s role no more than a pretty decor for these men’s oh so intimate bond. i think we’re past a time where we need a female chara to censor BLs; TU and WOH did perfectly fine without adding a third party. i find no reason why wx was needed at all if gjm wanted to make a BL to begin with. if she had more narrative merit things might be different but she fundamentally doesnt. even her “fated sacrifice” at the end was robbed from her by zyz! any major action that could alter or impact the overarching story were equally distributed among all the male charas—evEN THE fucKass kid!?!?—even tho wx was technically the FL. here i am, watching bai jiu scream and burn for 20mins on end while wx is glaringly missing from 2 of the final conflict eps...weird. Weird.

the show is clearly cognisant that she brings nothing to the table yet it still does shitall with her. she was essentially just there to be a love interest. it was Super distracting. and then eventually she wasnt even that. the writing for women here is abysmal. it was so weird seeing this show purposely sabotage its own romance (the interrupted kiss scenes, zyc always laughingly in the bg of every wx/zyz moment), as if hinting that it was forced to add it and the Real pairing is gay but all of it just feels performative and contrived??

  • Fangs of Fortune Special

    27. Fangs of Fortune Special

    Chinese Special - 2024, 1 episode

finding out fof stole from an actual danmei made a lot of sense—no wonder it felt a bit cheeky and not in any way endearing. honestly i think i wouldve had a better time w zyz/zyc if wx never existed; id rather not see a woman if ur gonna write her like a lamppost. its dehumanising!! every time zyz and zyc have a long moment it always ends w one or the other bringing wx up like an afterthought, acting like shes the thread holding them together, that they are mutually in love w her when their behaviour doesnt reflect their words at all?? their rls is summarised in a single word of "soulmate" and then they wiped their ass and called it a day. it just didnt make sense from a writing perspective.

it was like gjm stole all the heart and soul of the danmei and repurposed it into some cheap, deceptive, non-committal "bromance".  it made me think, of all the parts that i actually liked, how much of that was actually the essence of the original work?? im not familiar enough w gjm's works (thank god) to know exactly how misogynistic he is but funnily enough the danmei fof was accused of "borrowing" hadnt a morsel of a woman in it—is gjm just too women-hating to be able to write women or was there just nothing from the original that he could steal from for wx and psj? LOL. i mean, the one thing wx did—spend 300 years in a pocket dimension to save her lover—they glossed over completely <3 it was never mentioned again <33

there was just no heart or soul in the rls sorry to say. unironically if gjm had invested in the lesbians as much as he did the gays i mightve been more easily blindsided LOL. for the first time in my life i couldnt connect w a pair of subtext'd gays and immediately knew something was wrong LMFAO.

to end on a nicer note: it was a pleasure to watch the cast pop their pussies. cx and tjr were big highlights for me. if i didnt have so much to complain i wouldve waxed them poetic.

  • Marry My Husband: Japan

    28. Marry My Husband: Japan

    Japanese Drama - 2025, 10 episodes

    7.5

i ended up giving this the same score as the kor ver but really this was actually a better-written show that keeps a pre consistent tone without sacrificing any levity. its just i think the kdrama was more entertaining bc it has that dramatic slapstick effect while the jdrama is more serious so u dont get that soap opera thrill LOL. doesnt matter bc both dramas are better than the wtoon anyway.

the rls btwn fl and 2fl was always a highlight for me in these adaptions and im glad that feeling also transferred here. both koshiba fuka and shiraishi sei were excellent. koshifuka has this underrated humour that i found such joy in watching and shirasei also has some rlly impressive micro-expressions. the women carried.

i think both dramas do the codependent toxic 'yuri' pre well w their own merits but i think the kdrama does it a bit better w more nuance? it does have a longer running time LOL but making jiwons mum get w sumins dad gives the whole unhappy/happy childhood thing btwn jiwon and sumin a bit more complicated, esp when sumin thot jiwon was ignorant of it the whole time and that was how she could stay happy all the time. it also made jiwon's love for sumin so much greater bc jiwon knew sumin had no one when jiwon still had her dad somewhat—to jiwon, she thot to care for sumin more but to sumin, she chose to resent jiwon. it just gave their rls a bit of that tragic effect that rlly worked. here, we suddenly find out misa has hated reina all this time but was just too scared to cut her off??? wHEN. they did Zero foreshadowing for that. it sort of just boils down to jealousy btwn reina and misa rather than the complicated codependent love/hate rls sumin and jiwon have. i do like that both reina and sumin, at the end of the day, still rlly Needed misa/jiwon even tho she hated her.

the men were awright. tomoya being obsessed w misa brought a new perspective to their rls. it seems he Does like her just never more than he likes himself lol. may he never rest in peace.

i wanted to give this a 9 lol like for the first 10 eps it was honestly a 9 <3 crazily enough, i do think hoh couldve benefitted from a few more eps like maybe an extra two could've saved us the pacing issues :(  when i heard they were gonna time skip the last two eps i was already like ohohohoh boy and—yeah. LOL. i mean it wasnt bad it just leaves sO much to be desired :(

i agree w the general critique that there was some necessary storytelling/exposition that we didnt get like the backstory btwn yeomhwa and dongcheon and what happened to her kid and how they separated just to like flesh out that rls?? and i think more scenes that build on the rls btwn the kids Outside of the whole ghost thing can make the fallout hit a bit harder?? we didnt even get to see them actually reacting to seongah disappearing and the Real seongah wasnt part of the reunion either. time skip rlly muddled things up bc how tf did they explain her disappearance?? and how did they explain gyeonu's rapid personality changes?? the ahem worldbuilding LOL was also a bit iffy like eventually i felt like they were just doing whatever lmfaoo how did seongah even find bongsu after he accidentally killed her mum?? how'd she override his clutch on gyeonu and brought him into Her body? and every time they talked about how bongsu was "doing evil" in seongah's body they never aCtually tell u wtf she was doing like, killing ppl?? how tf do they explain that to the authorities?? are ppl dropping dead rapidly in this quaint little town and nOBODY THINK SOMETHING IS AMISS??

but overall, chara work and rls were done well. i love how they portrayed loneliness here and the main shaman found family was so cute <33 the love shape was also handled pre well LOL even the background couples. all the emotional beats were great; they got a star studded cast who all carry their own weight. very good stuff unfortunately shot in the ass by the pacing </3

the final scene w all the kisses were cute tho <3

gays this was so boring i had to switch to dub to get thru it lmfaooo. the premise was interesting we got some good ideas (that mightve been stolen whose to say lol) but execution and pacing were awful <3 nothing happens for 99% of the show and then everything happens in the last 3-4eps and just when you think this shit is finally over we got a random ass cliffhanger of an ending for no reason <3

it didnt help that the characters were all so...bland? idk they all felt kinda one note and their arcs never rlly live up to expectations established in their intros. i could never tell if they wanted me to see the two FLs as good at their jobs bc they spend a lot of time not rlly doing anything and when they do they are caught almost immediately lol. when theyre cornered they suddenly have all this lore that is Never foreshadowed so it just felt super convenient. the show pre much does that w everything. it felt less like meticulously written plot twists and more...something yall just made up on the spot? like they spend the whole show fighting and suddenly its all just a bit all explained in one monologue ??? the payoff was not enough for the snoozefest yall

i liked the main cast but the supporting peeps were such a joy personally. either way everyone was acting circles around zlh :/ the crazy thing is hes not even a Bad actor hes just incredibly average. like yea he can cry he can say his lines he can do the things they want him to do he just does it all with absolutely No emotions. they tell him his bro and dad just died and hes looking at us like •_• and then he finds out his wife is a spy and hes like •_• does he know how to emote?? he actually does a bit better in the couple scenes bc gzy is a pre sweet guy but both cp's were kinda flat to me. sgq spends 100% of their rls pretending to be submissive to gsj and there just wasnt more equal challenging; by the time they fight it lasted 1min and then she dipped LOL.

    well!

this was sooo easy to watch lol like just some good trashy fun romantic drama. my favourite thing about convoluted BLs is that it rlly just boils down to Men Creating Their Own Problems like none of this was necessary you guys are just drama queens. its so funny that daon has literally reciprocated each dude's feelings once and they all threw it away except for sunghyeong LOL.

    1. jaemin is lucky daon is so normal bc id be sooo annoying about having a harem revolved around me like that kidnapping scene wouldve been So different if it were me

    2. i like . see the appeal for suhyeon x daon but its just fundamentally a nonsensical couple for me not bc suhyeon is batshit crazy and a hair's width away from a Lawsuit and a restraining order but bc he doesnt come off as someone who Loves daon to me? in fact, jaemin's "love" for daon made more sense bc hes just your typical yandere, albeit a pre uninspiring, uninteresting one but it makes sense that his "love" is actually possession. suhyeon tho i dont get bc he doesnt seem like someone who could love anyone else more than himself but he plays Such a victim about it that im like ?? maybe get an adult colouring book or somn lol. the scenes of him in the past vs the present is such a disconnect. why did he become so abrasive and hostile? what makes him think that would make daon think anything but that he hated him?

    3. jaemin might be a bore but i was gagged when he taunted suhyeon about why he proposed the fake rls thing but Doesnt tell him. doesnt seem like suhyeon heard it but if they had included that it would be sO good nothing torments a person more than being withheld information from lol. we're a species who thrive on Knowing.

    5. overall pre well done for something so concise i liked that it remained cohesive all the way thru even tho character work is a bit lacklustre. the kiss scenes were pre solid tho (thumbs up).

    1. after watching two terrible cdramas back2back 'm so glad we're back to fun plots and actually well-written charas. hy is definitely my fc she is just So great her ambitions her talent her strength her intelligence and that shes just Cool as Fuck. i love that she digs her feet on things she wants to do and doesnt want to do. shes not gonna relent this time bc the last time she did it costed her everything :(

    2. xj is laughably the Only male feminist in this show and it makes me laugh out loud omg not all men bc there is only (1) man: xiao jue CTFU

    3. the only downside to watching hist dramas is that there is almost alWays a king chara and hes always stupid as FUCK. fuckass bastard literally caused all that trouble for nOTHING and the fact that he was so smug about it made me wish xjf's treason succeeded.

    4. wish they showed me hrf getting publicly axed instead of xjf dying from shock or whatever like yea the old man is annoying but not more than that ugly pathetic insecure delusional loser?? why was he so smug hes never won a fight ever in his life

    5. nothing worse than an evil chara than an annoying one. every time cz was onscreen id genuinely Stop being able to keep watching. glad his backstory was just 2 vague scenes and no explanation bc i genuinely dc. the way he had two girls actually like him?? why couldnt he die instead of yan he. it IS funny tho when the king blamed evrythng on him at the end like wdym its all his fault war reignited?? all he did was remind u of a law that already existed??

    5. i didnt clock the ai shit in the beginning bc i watched in sub but when i did it was so distracting like if u already had someone else replace the guy why not just use that guy?? this just sets a precedent for future ai use

    6. yeah the pacing a bit choppy but this was still an entertaining fun watch and i like that the ending was well-rounded. i just wish we got to see more of certain charas like hy's ragtag gang of misfits from yezhou :') shouldve been then over cz

    1) THIS WAS SO GOOD??? this was literally perfect one of the most sensitive, nuanced, thoughtful, beautiful depiction of women struggles and plights in a misogynistic patriarchal society. this drama rlly loves its women and loves Talking about women. it lets women be rlly rlly angry. it lets women be cunning and manipulative and abusive and evil. it lets women be imperfect and ugly and selfish and cruel. but it tells every story w so much Heart and and So much care. the show never detracts, never tries to be something its not. its just an Objectively well-written drama. it carried itself steadily, consistently, strongly from beginning to end.

    2) every single female rls in this show was peak fiction in and of itself the complexities? the nuances? so much love and inherent understanding and empathy for each other bc we are all women trying to survive in a world that hates us and finds us disposal and the desire to protect each other even if we're not amiable bc no one shows up for women like other women. when it comes to loyalty and camaraderie, men are always brought up and praised but women's love and loyalty are always relegated. i love that they explicitly addressed this in the show. it was Women who showed up for hanyan.

    3) ruan xiwen is one of my fc's pERIOD. decades of enduring countless injustices alone have warped and twisted and stained her w resentment and misery. she was revered as this talented beautiful young lady in her youth but now, she seems unrecognisable. but as we follow hy navigating her family, we find that rxw is still very much that young lady—strong, stubborn, righteous, witty, eloquent—but all of those qualities are now twinged with hatred and rage and has made her abrasive and almost crazed at times. and wzr plays her So expertly. her manic eyes, the guttural yells, her violence, her tears, her raw vitriol, her mannerisms—they all perfectly encompass this woman devoured by her resentment. i love her. and shes funny as fuck too.

    4) that final scene was heart-wrenchingly beautiful. cried my eyes out. it was like the perfect embodiment for the word "bittersweet". seeing everyone get to be happy together...but they're not there...but they're all interacting like they are...and you see hy get to have fun w her mum...and having yunxi be on the side of the "dead" bc his days are numbered, him being dressed in blue this whole time perfectly blending in with the deceased...poETIC CINEMA.

    5) have to say it again but while the tumultuous and complex rls btwn the women are great the Loving Loyal ones are equally if not so much more amazing. that scene where hy and her mum are hugging after xw could walk again and chen mama joins in and like thats the two closest ppl to rxw who is there to hold her up during her worst moments :') also the rls btwn xw and consort miao. that mutual rivalry but also respect and admiration for each other. theres some antagonism but they're automatically For each other and Want the best for each other. when consort miao grieved xw w hy it was like those are the last two ppl who care about xw :( they couldve had a closer rls but consort miao died :(( xw's death felt sO unfair to me bc it kinda felt like another one of those killing off a chara who has been thru hell when they finally achieve happiness but from a narrative perspective it was showing how countless women are victimised by this oppressive society and often w their injustices never righted. same w consort miao. women are constantly sacrificed in a world like this

    6) this was shot So beautifully. every scene every angle every focus felt Purposeful and did an excellent job of visual storytelling. one of my fav details were the building title plaques. every time the camera zoomed out or into a room and you see the building is named something like Grace And Elegance. Tranquility And Sincerity. Be Kind To Others. and then its the most heinous vilest motherfucker you ever seen inside the room. COMIC GOLD

    7) yes many women are victimised but the story encourages resilience and hope in showing Other female charas being able to break from their shackles and achieve freedom and happiness themselves—COUNTLESS of women in this show actually are able to regain control of their lives again whether or not they were a "good person". this show does an excellent job of showing not all victims are perfect and that they dont Have to be.

    8) hy's rls w chai jing was so intimate and special it felt like it could be another layer/type of love btwn women. cj being the one who made her the hairpin that has protected hy thru everything. every time you see it you think cj is still there protecting hy Esp bc she sacrificed her swordsmanship for her and is no longer even By her side anymore. cj who says hy is her most important person and she would die for her she would kill for her and cj who cried pitifully when hy got married. chai jing—who hy almost gave up her body to save.

    9) chara writing in this show so good even the villain was well-rounded, perfectly fleshed out, and self-contained. he was his own person and an excellent example of how the patriarchy also negatively affects men. hes not even inherently an Evil person just someone who wanted to Live so bad, someone who loved himself so Much that he willingly sacrifices everyone around him and someone who is clearly smart enough to recognise he was condemning himself to loneliness forever. he lived his life so painfully distrusting and cautious he could never experienced genuine love. his ending was painfully fitting. zry's michael myers moment at the end...cinema...

    10) i liked the main couple lol. sure theyre not particularly romantic but fyx perfectly complements hy theyre such a messy couple but one who Understands each other so thoroughly. they lie and manipulate and use each other but they could never truly ever Betray each other. they'll always save each other.

    11) this was a revenge drama that SATED me!!
