It tells the story of Jake's daily descent into the neon-soaked underbelly of Tokyo, where he embeds himself into the police squad and becomes enmeshed in the hidden, complex, and corrupted cultures of the city's vice cops and the criminal underworld.

The story begins 23 years in the past. Junichi, then a sixth-grade elementary school student, buried a handgun used in a certain incident beneath a cherry blossom tree on the school grounds together with three classmates. The four children shared this secret, each going on to live their own lives before eventually drifting apart.

Follows an aspiring manga artist named Keigo Yamashiro who dreams of making it big. Yamashiro is extremely talented, but what holds him back is his inability to create any villains due to his overtly cheerful personality. Due to this, he is currently stuck in the position of being an assistant to a manga writer.  One day Yamashiro receives an assignment from his boss to visit a home and sketch the family living there. When Yamashiro arrives at the house he finds all four family members dead, and a mysterious man.

The Mobile Investigative Unit (known as "MIU") of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department attempts to solve cases within 24 hours.  Detective Shima Kazumi is selected as a new member of MIU. He is intelligent, with excellent observation and communication skills. Yet, he does not trust other people. He is unable to find a partner in MIU and is ordered to partner with Police Officer Ibuki Ai, who works at a police substation. Ibuki applied for MIU, but he failed. He is in excellent physical condition, but he lacks knowledge and experience as a detective. Shima learns about Ibuki's background and he becomes more nervous. Finally, Shima has his first meeting with Ibuki.

A suspense love story centered around Sanada Rio, a businesswoman who suddenly became an important reference for a murder case; a detective who is Rio's first love and is trying to pursue the truth of the case; and a lawyer who wants to protect Rio by all means.

There is a department called OKURA at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. Detectives in OKURA take on old, unsolved cases which are in a shelved state. The OKURA department is mocked by the other detectives and described as a garbage dump or a detective's graveyard. The members of OKURA are branded as incompetent outcasts.

Toko Kisaragi is a new female detective who was transferred to 11 Section of the 1st Investigation Division at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department as she wishes. Her father was a former detective of the same police department.

Confusingly enough, a new rash of murders all around the world are taking place, with a "Second Kira" claiming responsibility. Light learns the identity of the Second Kira and suggests they join forces to get rid of L. Will L be able to catch "Kira" before he is killed?

Mei has amnesia following a serious accident but is living a fulfilling life, enjoying her work and surrounded by her wonderful fiancé and best friend. One day, she falls under the suspicion of a murder of which she has no memory, and her comfortable life falls apart.   Who is an ally, and who is an enemy? Mei is betrayed by those she trusts as she draws closer to the truth, but she does not actually know herself and is carrying her own secret.

The story revolves around Rinka, a wedding planner, who herself has very little luck with romance. When her company links up with dating app Will Will, Rinka reluctantly registers and is matched up with Tomu. When they meet, Tomu looks totally different from his picture, and he soon messages her relentlessly.  At the same time, several newly married couples who met through the app are murdered in rapid, grisly succession. All of them were Rinka’s clients. Frightened and coming under suspicion for the deaths, she reaches out to the dating app’s programmer, Kageyama, for help.

Takeuchi Kaoru is a young man with a special ability. He can experience the thoughts of others just by copying their writings. Kaoru lives with his mother with Alzheimer's disease. He wants to become a writer, but due to his special ability, he has a hard time writing his own work. Taking care of his sick mother also doesn't help his writing. One day, his mother gets into an accident.  Fujiwara Tomomi, who went to the same school as Kaoru, appears in front of Kaoru. Tomomi is a young yakuza, and he makes an offer to Kaoru. The deal is if Kaoru takes a university entrance exam for someone and that guy gets into a top university, then he will make a lot of money. But Kaoru gets involved in something unexpected.

The story is set one year later. Takatsuki Akira, Fukamachi Naoya, and Ubukata Ruiko become involved in mysterious disappearances that occur in different parts of Japan. These disappearances apparently are linked to Akira's past as the trio attempt to find out what happened when Akira was 12 and how he got his "perfect memory" ability.

Urashima Eiji appears as an ordinary university student, but he hides a dark secret: he is the son of a notorious serial killer. As his father's heinous crimes continue, Eiji grapples with memory blackouts, fearing he may share his father's sinister inclinations. In 1995, 5 serial murder cases took place. Ko Makimura took charge of the murder cases and tried to catch the serial killer. Due to the killer's trap, Ko Makimura's superior was killed. The serial murder case has been unsolved to this date.  22 years later, a murder memoir "Watashi ga Satsujinhan desu” ("I am a Murderer") is published. The author describes himself as the killer responsible for the 5 unsolved serial murder cases. The author, Masato Sonezaki, has an attractive appearance and appears at a press conference for his newly published book

Yoshii Yuta, Fujimaki Hajime, and Kikuhara Kisuke are middle-aged men, with different personalities and tastes, who were friends in middle school. Back in 1988, they were in a movie club and absorbed in making kung-fu movies. Now, at the age of 51, they feel like their lives are stuck in a dead end. One day, news breaks about human bones discovered at a construction site in Danbe.

Nomura is a serial killer who views people as targets to kill. Nomura kills a woman in a room. He records the murder and places it on the internet. Bayu works as a journalist in Jakarta, Indonesia. He happens to see the video and becomes attracted to the beauty layered within the cruel visuals. One day, Bayu is attacked by a robber. He fights back and kills the robber. Bayu films the robber dying. He places the recording on the internet. Nomura then sees the video recorded by Bayu. Nomura sympathizes with Bayu.

Kaburagi, who was arrested and sentenced to death as a suspect in a heinous murder, escapes. Sayaka, Kazuya, Mai, and Matanuki, a detective who pursues Kaburagi, meet Kaburagi as he continues his escape route around Japan. However, the Kaburagi that each of them meets is a completely different person...

Revolving around human cloning, the story is described as a suspense and mystery story set in a metaphorical game of "musical chairs," involving elements such as psychological warfare.

Soumato Corporation is an intriguing place where recorded images of one’s life can be viewed on DVD. A person who happens to stray into Soumato Corporation will be handed DVDs equivalent in number to his age by Kaminuma, the company’s mysterious guide. She will tell him to go back and watch his life to his heart’s content. What he will see on these DVDs is his own life through the eyes of other people. He will learn startling facts that are better left unsaid. What will he think after watching everything?

The story is a locked-room mystery where 12 teenagers go into an abandoned hospital to give up on life. In the room where they meet, a boy is already lying dead, and no one knows who he is or who killed him. The boy is named "No. 0" by the group, as he was the first one to arrive, and they attempt to find his murderer. During their search, the reasons why they want to die are revealed one by one.

The last foe is a new "Death", created by man. To solve the Kira Case, L leaves Los Angeles convincing Kira is in Japan. At the same time, his intuition tells him that he may never be able to return to Los Angeles again. Known as Kira, Light Yagami, using the Death Note, attempts to become God of a criminal-free new world. By L's ultimate choice, the Kira Case closes, but, at the same time, L loses Watari, who was his most trusted partner. After losing Watari, L takes on the task of solving the cases left in the later's file. As all the cases are solved, a "gift" addressed to Watari arrives. The gift is a little boy. From the SD card the boy has in his possession, L learns that the child is the only survivor of a Thai village that was exterminated. L also discovers that a huge conspiracy, utilizing a man-made virus, was on the move behind the Thai village tragedy. Meanwhile, L has another visitor. The girl's name is Maki, and she tells L that she has brought something her father, who died a horrible death, told her to deliver to Watari. As L realizes the item the girl brought is, indeed, the virus in question, pursuers are closing in. Protecting the two children, L physically makes moves to solve the horrendous case. However, he only has six days to solve the case.

A man possesses a special ability to manipulate others with just his eyes. Because of this special ability, he killed his abusive father and was abandoned by his mother. He now lives a lonely life in the dark side of a city. Meanwhile, Shuichi Tanaka doesn't have a family and lives with his friends. Even though he is poor, he has a bright outlook on life. One day, these two men meet. The man becomes confused, because he can't manipulate Shuichi with his eyes.

Two men named Raita attempt to solve a series of perplexing murders. Japanese businessman Raita has just moved into his new apartment when he meets his next-door neighbor Raita, a seasoned detective. Soon thereafter, one of the detective's clients is killed, and her liver is removed. In short order, another female murder victim had her kidney's removed and a third, her lungs.

Usobuki Tadashi is a mysterious man in a black suit who will perform without fail a request to have someone killed. His targets unequivocally die from illness, suicide, accident, etc., but there is never proof of murder. The investigation is proving difficult, and the police detectives are being led around by Usobuki's power to manipulate people. However, a female detective, Tada Tomoko, seems to be the only one Usobuki is unable to command.

An environmental analyst is asked by the police to determine if two deaths by hydrogen sulfide poisoning are an accident - or a murder. But when he meets a young woman at both sites, a scientific mystery begins.

Kyosuke Yakumo works as a reportage writer. His fiancée is Yuriko Matsuda, and they will marry soon. For his next book, Kyosuke Yakumo begins research on a burned-to-death murder case involving a beautiful blind woman. The suspect in the case is photographer Kiharazaka Yudai.

Reiji Kikukawa, who has a strong sense of justice, graduated from the police academy with the lowest score ever. He becomes a police constable, but is suddenly fired by the Police Chief due to "disciplinary" issues. In actuality, the firing is part of a carefully orchestrated plan.  Reiji is ordered to become a "mole," an undercover cop. His target is Shuho Todoroki, the boss of the Sukiyakai gang. The group is the largest crime group in the Kanto area. Masaya Hiura, who works as a young boss of a Sukiyakai affiliated gang likes Reiji. University students Sugishita Nozomi, Naruse Shinji, Ando Nozomi and Nishizaki Masato end up coming upon the scene of the murder of the Noguchi couple, because of a plan they had devised. Nishizaki is arrested at the scene and is given a 10-year prison term because of his voluntary confession.   10 years later, Takano Shigeru, a former police officer who has misgivings about the verdict of this case, starts to pursue the truth. He is convinced that it all began as a result of an incident caused by Nozomi and Naruse on an island in the Seto Inland Sea in the summer 15 years ago. “They committed a crime at that time. It was for the sake of each N.”

Tanaka Ainosuke was born with a weak left eye. Then one day, his older brother Yumehito dies mysteriously, allowing Ainosuke to receive a cornea transplant from him. After the surgery, whenever there is a shock to his left eye, he sees strange images. Ainosuke assumes that the images might be clues to his brother's death and starts an investigation with the help of his junior high school nurse Sayama Hitomi. But just when their probe begins, an unidentified criminal organization appears to disrupt their investigation.

Yuu feels trapped in his hometown. He decides to go to Tokyo and visit his girlfriend, Megumi. Yuu tells her that he wants to live with her in Tokyo, but she is confused by his sudden visit. They end up having an argument. Yuu doesn't have a place to stay in Tokyo, and he ends up staying at a cheap sharehouse named Hakobune. Other people staying there include Yamaguchi, Maru, Yoshiko, Goro, and Kirishima. During his first night there, Yuu sees Yamaguchi and Maru having an argument.  The next day, Yamaguchi seems to have disappeared altogether. Yuu gets a strange feeling because he remembers Yamaguchi stating his intentions to stay there for another six months. Soon, Yuu suspects some of the creepy residents at the sharehouse are responsible for unconscionably evil acts.

This story follows a young man named Makoto, who lives in Ikebukuro West Gate Park, an area known for youth delinquency and gangs. In fact, one of Makoto's best friends from high school, Takeshi, is the "king" or leader, of one such gang, called the G-Boys. Makoto is known for being tough and smart, and while trying to solve the mystery of a friend's death, he finds himself a somewhat unwilling helper in many mysteries and problems of IWGP inhabitants. All the while, gang tension is mounting between his best friend's gang (which Makoto refuses to join) and a new gang, the "Black Angels".

Suzuki Aoba, a gloomy high school freshman who has always lived an unattractive life, was enjoying his school life, even though he was occasionally beaten up by his classmate Iwase Sannosuke in what he called "play fighting".   One day, he is saved from the "play fighting" by Akasawa Kenshin, a superstar in the martial arts world who is attracting attention in the next class, but Kenshin suddenly says to him, "You're empty...", and Aoba cannot forgive him and declares that he wants to "punch him once". After being introduced by Sannosuke, Aoba enrolls in the Shark Gym, which is about to go bankrupt and is run by Tokiwa Kanenari, and enters the world of "MMA" (mixed martial arts)!  Under the guidance of his master, Amachi Wataru, he aims to reach the top of "MMA Koshien", a tournament to determine the strongest high school fighter. A group of eccentric athletes, including Tamamatsu Kota, Hazuru Yuga, Nueji Ganmaru, Hiiragi Amu, and Hachiya Mamoru, await Aoba. An unprecedented sports youth story begins here, with the protagonist from the shadows taking on mixed martial arts!

Satomi Shinobu works in the Mobile Investigation Unit of The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. The Mobile Investigation Unit conducts the initial investigation at all crime scenes. He works with Inokuma Yuki. They are a couple, but they keep their relationship a secret at work. They both hope to work at the #1 Investigation Station.  One day, they meet beautiful Tachibana Kara at the site where a dead body was found. Kara appears at the other crime scenes involving grotesque murders. She shows an interest in Yuki. Satomi Shinobu thinks it's a bad sign for Yuki. To protect his girlfriend from danger, he struggles to uncover the truth behind the serial murder cases and Kara’s identity.

The story is set in 1989 at a mysterious mansion called the “Clock House,” located on the outskirts of Kamakura. After graduating from graduate school, rookie editor Kawaminami Takaaki, otherwise known as Konan, visits the Clock Mansion along with the magazine’s deputy editor-in-chief and others. On the night of a séance to contact the ghost of a girl said to reside in the mansion, a psychic suddenly disappears, and they become entangled in a terrifying series of murders.   Meanwhile, Shimada, who debuted as a mystery writer under the name Shishiya Kadomi, hears about Konan’s investigation and decides to visit the Clock Mansion himself. There, he pursues the mystery behind the poem “Chinmoku no Megami,” which was left by the mansion’s owner.
