Dramas Where Main Leads Had No Official or Long Breakup

PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF MY COMMENTS ON THE DRAMA LIST MAY CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS, SO PLEASE DO NOT PROCEED TO READ THE DESCRIPTIONS BELOW  IF YOU DON’T LIKE SPOILERS……I always always appreciate it when I find a drama where the couple get together and never parted ways no matter what tough challenges they face in their life and relationship.  The plot formula for these dramas are usually not complete without any angst of sorts, even without the break up. Some angsty parts are more tolerable, but it depends really on how much the viewers can tolerate. The title is “Dramas Where Main Leads Had No Official Breakup”. Hence, this list was created as such. Couples fight and have conflicts/misunderstandings and the way they resolve those issues are what makes their relationship work in the long run. Those who cannot take watching some of the conflicts that arise from the mains’ relationships probably need to look under the “Low Angst Dramas” list. You will find couples with misunderstandings on this list but that does not mean they broke up officially just because of that. They worked to resolve their issues and became stronger, and got their HAPPY ENDING in the end.

Contributed by someone as a no-break-up drama, but it does have its share of conflicts.   FL wanted to break up at one point but ML refused, so the main couple were together until the end. Although the ML confessed earlier in episode 14, they became more more official somewhere in episode 18, I think. Their chemistry is sizzling especially in episode 25…ML sure can kiss.  For a short, minidrama, it’s still a good watch.

  • My Lovely Liar

    202. My Lovely Liar

    Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes

A FL who has the power to hear lies; a ML who was the suspect for his previous girlfriend’s murder. Main couple got together officially in episode 9. The plot  was good, the main couple’s relationship was solid and mature. No break up, happy ending!

  • Touching You

    203. Touching You

    Korean Drama - 2016, 12 episodes

The ML can see the future events that will happen to the person he touches and he saw the FL is going to die in his vision. FL has a boyfriend, but the ML still fell for her anyway and tried to protect her. This is a bite-sized drama, 15 minutes each episode and although the romance between the main couple has not been really developed well, but at least you will be able to tell that their feelings are mutual, even though they did not become a couple until the last episode. It’s still a happy ending and is watchable if you don’t have anything better lined up for watching.

  • You from the Future

    204. You from the Future

Someone shared this one for the no-break up list. I will just update the description in the future.

    Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes

This is a poignant, forbidden romance between the main couple…they were lovers separated by circumstances years ago and when they met again the FL is divorced from her own husband while the ML is married to another woman, albeit unhappily. They also each have a child from their respective marriages. But it’s established in episode 4 when they kissed that their feelings for each other never changed despite being aware that their love is now considered by others as forbidden. They were just in love with each throughout the drama, they were each other’s emotional support in difficult times, and the ML is always seeking her company and can’t stay away from the FL for long.  He did not deny his love for the FL nor did she deny her own love for him. They did not let go of each other despite the pressures or threats from their spouses, not even when the society perceived their love in a negative light, nor when their relationship was exposed as a scandal on the news. The ML always followed his heart where the FL was concerned, and he eventually made the decision to divorce his wife. He was then able to ask the FL to marry him afterwards. The main couple ended up together in the end.

  • Hello, I'm at Your Service

    207. Hello, I'm at Your Service

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes

Another drama recommended kindly by someone for this list. Main couple got together in episode 14. There were some angsty parts in episode 22,  but nothing terribly painful and it was resolved by episode 23. No long or official break-up.

  • Behind Your Touch

    208. Behind Your Touch

    Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes

There’s hardly enough romance for the leads to even break up. It was just implied in the last few minutes of the episode that they will likely end up together. But I heard it’s a good show if you’re not really looking for romance in a drama.

  • Parallel World

    209. Parallel World

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 38 episodes

PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF MY COMMENTS ON THE DRAMA LIST MAY CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS, SO PLEASE DO NOT PROCEED TO READ THE DESCRIPTIONS BELOW  IF YOU DON’T LIKE SPOILERS……
What I liked: The main couple’s chemistry had a sizzle, which is how it should be in a show with romance included in the plot. I also liked that the ending is happy for the main leads.

What I Don’t Like: The separation. Although it’s not a painful one, it’s still a shame that for several episodes, you can’t see more of them being together and facing the villains together, instead of just leaving most of it to the FL.

ML and FL got together around episode 18, separated from episode 33, reunited in the last episode (episode 38). The main couple did not break up, the separation was a necessity they could not avoid, the ML was dying and the FL wants to save him, and she needed to leave him in order to do that. But it was still a really nice show, packed with enough action, adventure, and a good story that will keep you entertained throughout. And I’m glad it doesn’t have an open or cliffhanger ending.

  • Wrong Carriage, Right Groom

    210. Wrong Carriage, Right Groom

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes

PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF MY COMMENTS ON THE DRAMA LIST MAY CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS, SO PLEASE DO NOT PROCEED TO READ THE DESCRIPTIONS BELOW  IF YOU DON’T LIKE SPOILERS……
Another no-break up gem, and I actually enjoyed watching this drama, which is a remake. There are 2 lovely couples here ; there was a mix up in their sedans during their wedding day so they ended up with the wrong grooms. Based on the main plot,  the main leads are the third young master and his bride, whereas the secondary couple are the general and his bride. The general fell in love with his bride at first sight; the young master from a very wealthy family also fell in love fairly quickly with his own bride and the two couples got together officially after the both grooms confessed their love for their brides in episode 8.
***Conflict in Episode 12: The general received an imperial edict that granted him marriage to a princess. On the other hand, the young master‘s childhood female friend arrived and stayed while being incited by the villain to go after the ML in the bid to break apart the ML and FL. The general has a smart, strategic wife so she and her husband planned to make the emperor take back his edict. As for the main couple, they caught up to the villain’s plan and started putting up their own show to foil the villain’s plans. I love how these two couples are all on one page because they communicate with each other and are confident in their love for each other.  Another thing I like, the SFLs (childhood friend and princess) were actually nice characters in the long run. A very happy ending for both couples.

  • My Lovely Wife

    211. My Lovely Wife

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 22 episodes

    Spoiler Alert:

This is a short drama, probably around 12 mins more or less per episode and the misunderstanding started around episode 18 (hint: pseudo-siblings trope), but it got resolved around the last episode.  The main couple did not have a true official break up while their issue was being resolved but they were both experiencing the pain and conflict at that time.

  • What's Wrong with My Princess

    212. What's Wrong with My Princess

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 32 episodes

Short drama but the story is really good. It hooked me in from the first episode to the end. No break up, solid married couple with a strong FL.

  • Lucky's First Love

    213. Lucky's First Love

    Chinese Drama - 2019, 24 episodes

There are some parts that you might find a bit annoying if you don’t like love rivals or push and pull relationships. Main couple kissed in episodes 13 and 17 but did not get together until around episode 18. No break up, ended with the main and secondary couples getting married.

  • Mr. Bride

    214. Mr. Bride

    Japanese Drama - 2023, 11 episodes

They got together in episode 6, around episode 10 the FL asked to break up because she wanted the ML to focus on his own career goals and dreams instead, but the main couple managed to resolve their issues fairly quickly. So there is no long separation and time jumps.

  • To the Moon and Back

    215. To the Moon and Back

    Thai Drama - 2023, 21 episodes

  • Twinkling Watermelon

    216. Twinkling Watermelon

    Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes

  • Strong Girl Namsoon

    217. Strong Girl Namsoon

    Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes

  • Story of Kunning Palace

    218. Story of Kunning Palace

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 38 episodes

    SPOILER ALERT!
The FL was a scheming, manipulative, power-hungry empress in her first life who used and stepped on a lot of people to get to her position but unfortunately it ended with her death. Then she woke up with her memories from her first life intact, taking her back from when she was 18 again and have not entered the palace yet.  Even if the main couple did not become official until episode 36,  I still found it was worth watching and I hardly skipped it from beginning to end.

Yan Lin= FL’s childhood friend from a noble family. He was in love with her in both lives. She let him down cruelly in their first life but helped him in their second life.
Zhang Zhe= I think the FL loved him in her own way during her first life but used him cruelly as well. He was an honest, upright minister who selflessly sacrificed his principles and his life for her without asking for anything in return. He was the one she traded her life for in exchange for his own during her first life.
Xie Wei= he was the imperial junior preceptor and her teacher during both lifetimes. In their first life, he was an antagonist, her nemesis, yet you could see the complexities of his feelings for her. The actor’s micro expressions were very powerful and impressive. In their next life, he is still an anti-hero character, rather ruthless, cold, aggressive, crazy, and the FL wanted to avoid him like the plague because she was scared of him after knowing what he was capable of from her first life. He loved her but his way was domineering, he was jealous, possessive, and not the type who would let go easily and selflessly, but the type who would go all out to keep her. Even the way he confessed his feelings was pretty forceful and his intensity would actually be quite scary in real life.

For me, this drama was worth watching and I loved the happy ending, complete with the main couple’s wedding, their family life, and their twins.

  • Perfect Marriage Revenge

    219. Perfect Marriage Revenge

    Korean Drama - 2023, 12 episodes

This drama was adapted from a webcomic. There was a very brief separation in episode 11 but no divorce/ break up and everything was resolved in the same episode.  There are so many villains as well but they all got their karma. The ending was great. I personally like this drama, and the ML is very nice, he was very devoted and loved the FL unconditionally.

  • Love Is Panacea

    220. Love Is Panacea

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 34 episodes

    SPOILER ALERT

He will likely lose her in the future due to her illness, but they were together all through the end of the drama and they will be together ‘till death separates them.  At least they showed a happy ending instead of her dying and leaving him alone. And there is always advancements in the medical field, so I’m sure he will do his best to prolong her life should there be no cure still.

  • Flourish in Time

    221. Flourish in Time

    Chinese Drama - 2021, 24 episodes

This is a pure youth drama, and the main leads did not have to kiss or hug to show their feelings for each other. You just know they care for each other and love each other throughout the drama even without the confession to establish that they are an official couple already.  In the last episode they talked about growing old and becoming toothless together, so you know that it is as good as a declaration of intent that they will be together for the rest of their life and build their own family in the future. The ML is the same actor as the ML in ”The Story of Kunning Palace” and “Maiden Holmes”.

  • I May Love You

    222. I May Love You

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes

I checked out some reviews, it looks like the main leads got together somewhere around episode 19.

  • Love Me, Love My Voice

    223. Love Me, Love My Voice

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 33 episodes

This is one of the best, rare dramas out there with no break up, great characters, fluffy, 0 toxicity. It’s worth watching, you won’t want to miss this one.

  • Got a Crush on You

    224. Got a Crush on You

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 26 episodes

There is no official break up but the main couple had a long distance relationship near the end of the drama when the FL went abroad to further her studies, which is not really a bad thing.  Based on my personal taste in romance dramas though, I would probably not rewatch this one based on how they wrote the FL’s character. I would suggest checking out some comments and reviews before watching this to see whether you might find this your cup of tea or not.

  • Love Destiny Season 2

    225. Love Destiny Season 2

    Thai Drama - 2023, 26 episodes

I enjoyed watching the main leads in Love Destiny Part 1 (the parents’ story, played by the same actor and actress in Love Destiny Part 2). This was also on the list of NBU (No Break Up) dramas. Part 2 was also recommended as another NBU drama.

  • Miss Mystery

    226. Miss Mystery

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes

Somebody who saw this drama have made the following comment below.
“The ML thought the FL left, but she made it seem that way to protect him, and it was for a few minutes then she turned back up close to the end of the episode. Each episode is about 10-14 minutes long. They've been together from the first episode, but fully official from episode 10. The romance is more on the steamy side”.

  • A Good Day to Be a Dog

    227. A Good Day to Be a Dog

    Korean Drama - 2023, 14 episodes

    SPOILER ALERT!

This was adapted from a popular webtoon comic with the same title. The FL is under a curse wherein she turns into a dog if she kisses someone. She kissed the ML while drunk and turned into a dog. She needed to kiss the ML again while in dog form to lift her curse, but the ML has to do it while awake and willingly. Unfortunately, he is deathly afraid of dogs. But the curse got lifted eventually and the main couple got together in episode 9. They did not break up officially, but the antagonist of the drama tampered with the FL’s memories for revenge. This happened in episode 12. The ML’s memories remained intact but unfortunately, the FL’s memories were gone. However, the ML never gave up on the FL. For those who do not want to see the angst here, you might want to skip this part because the ML struggled in episode 12. But fortunately, she got her memories back in episode 13. Happy ending and the ML actor gets the best kisser award here (check out their closet scene lol).

  • The Matchmakers

    228. The Matchmakers

    Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes

There is no official break up but they separated briefly in the last episode when they both thought the other died. They reunited again after around a month and had their happy ending.

  • Derailment

    229. Derailment

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 30 episodes

This description is based on the mixed comments I’ve read because I haven’t personally watched this show yet:

There is no break up or separation, slow burn romance and main couple got officially together in episode 24, no frustrating or annoying love triangle, some parts got draggy, some said ML is a red flag especially in episode 7 (something about some manhandling scenes) but some mentioned he is a most devoted, loving ML in later episodes. Happy ending.

  • I Know I Love You

    230. I Know I Love You

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes

I’ve gathered different comments since I haven’t seen this show yet. This has a similar vibe to the kdrama One Spring Night although they said this is not the actual remake. FL was in a long term relationship but broke up with her boyfriend who still pestered her afterwards. ML is divorced but not hung up on his ex-wife, who tried to get him back but failed. Main couple got together sometime in episode 13, but the  more intimate sweet moments started sometime around episode 18 as they kept growing closer to each other. There are conflicts and misunderstandings in some parts, so it a fair warning that this is not going to be a non-toxic, fluffy drama but it’s still meets the criteria for no official break up or long separation with a happy ending.

  • My Boss

    231. My Boss

    Chinese Drama - 2024, 36 episodes

Main couple started dating in episode 23, there was some misunderstanding in episode 34, but it was not really a painful one and they were back together in episode 35.

  • Our Interpreter

    232. Our Interpreter

    Chinese Drama - 2024, 36 episodes

ML and FL broke up years before and got back together in episode 19. Marriage proposal was in episode 30. Happy ending.

  • My Special Girl

    233. My Special Girl

    Chinese Drama - 2024, 24 episodes

Main couple got together in episode 15. No break up, happy ending, although rushed and rather abrupt.

  • Love Endures

    234. Love Endures

    Chinese Drama - 2024, 32 episodes

Main couple became official in episode 19. No break up, happy ending.

  • Amidst a Snowstorm of Love

    235. Amidst a Snowstorm of Love

    Chinese Drama - 2024, 30 episodes

ML was instantly attracted to the FL, early confession in episode 6 and got together in episode 9.

  • Thousands of Years of Love

    236. Thousands of Years of Love

    Chinese Drama - 2024, 22 episodes

This is a special mention because this one is worth watching. I just have to add this because for those who love romance in their dramas, this one is oozing with it. The chemistry between the main leads is really good, the kisses and their intimate scenes are on fire. It has short episodes and the only separation was when the ML lead died in the last episode, but he came back again so it has  a happy ending.

  • Passionate Love

    237. Passionate Love

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes

     SPOILER ALERT:
Main couple’s chemistry was on fire, but because the ML was initially seeking revenge for something the FL did not do, their interactions were mostly akin to watching a couple do a passionate love/hate tango dance.  Try watching “El Tango De Roxanne - Moulin Rouge” in you tube because that sums up this main couple’s relationship. Misunderstandings were resolved only somewhere near the last few episodes but the ML has been filled with anger and desire for the FL the whole time and was always jealous and possessive. Once the ML realized the FL‘s father did not kill his family, he was immediately regretful and tried to make up for his mistakes. Happy ending after finding the true culprits, and resolving the issue of the FL’s engagement to the ML’s older brother,  a family-arranged engagement which the ML had a hard time accepting. This is a period drama with short episodes, and they looked good in their costumes, too. Strangely enough, they agreed to get married somewhere  in episode 21 and had no break up as a couple. They never had any separation during the whole drama either.

  • Love at Night

    238. Love at Night

    Chinese Drama - 2021, 30 episodes

No official break up, but just a heads up, there are a few misunderstandings and an ex-girlfriend who came back trying to rekindle an old flame.  Oh, and an annoying ex-fiance as well who kept trying to get back with the FL.

  • Sweet Trap

    239. Sweet Trap

    Chinese Drama - 2024, 24 episodes

It took the main couple 20 episodes to get together. No break up after that.

  • Ghost Doctor

    240. Ghost Doctor

    Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes

  • Mischievous Kiss: Love in Tokyo Season 2

    241. Mischievous Kiss: Love in Tokyo Season 2

    Japanese Drama - 2014, 16 episodes

I appreciate this comment shared by drama_lover119 :“Itazura na Kiss: Love in Tokyo Season 2 can be put into this list. The main leads got married in the last episode of Season 1. Season 2 is all about their married life and career. There were some ups and downs in their relationship, some small fight as well, but no breakup (Or I should say no divorce)”.  Thanks, drama_lover119!

  • Yong An Dream

    242. Yong An Dream

    Chinese Drama - 2024, 24 episodes

    Feedback from drama_lover119 :
“MLs got together around 15 episodes. Their relationship was very healthy without any misunderstanding and they trusted each other so much. No annoying love triangle as well. The plot was good, only downside is the amnesia part in the last episode without which the drama would be rated higher.” Thanks for your comment, much appreciated!

Here are some spoilers below, shared so kindly by one of our drama watchers:
FL's ex comes back and wants to start over  but there is no chance for him to get back with FL. I guess he is just there to apologize to FL and her mother, and to cause some jealousy scenes. But there is someone else who will cause angsty scenes. She blackmails one of the participants to quit from the show because she thought ML likes that participant. Later she accuses FL and ML of dating before even the dating show starts and that everything was rigged. She tried blackmail but eventually she just flies off to Paris and her arc ends there...Everything is resolved because FL finds the blackmail recording. Two kisses, some hugs, overall healthy relationship. And no break up between the main couple.

  • The Princess Royal

    253. The Princess Royal

    Chinese Drama - 2024, 40 episodes

Spoiler alert… In the beginning the main couple have already been married for decades and were not on good terms. She thought he poisoned her and as she lay dying, she ordered his assassination as well. They both died and woke up to find themselves at age 18 and 20 again, before they got married…. and with both their memories intact. FL is a royal princess so the ML is her prince consort. The main couple had no long separation. One time the ML went on a journey to investigate on something and everybody thought he died but he just faked his death so he can complete his investigation without being intercepted further. That arc did not last long and he was only gone for about 20 days, if I recall. They have their disagreements but they do not drag long because they communicate and resolve things between them. They divorced but it was only part of their scheme and did not affect their current relationship, as they were still lovers in secret. I think it was around that time when they were hiding their relationship that the FL got pregnant. There is no SFL, but there is a SML and you’ll probably get annoyed with his screen time, otherwise, I liked this drama overall. Happy ending for the main couple.

(Tagged: Older Woman Younger Man; ML chased FL first; No Love Triangle; Office Romance. No break up) She’s 35 and he’s 26. It’s an office romance that started when he agreed to pretend to be her boyfriend at her friend’s wedding because her boyfriend broke up with her and she didn’t want to go alone. It was only supposed to be for a day only. Or so she thought. Now what to do if the ML did not get the memo and carried on like they were still in a relationship the next day and the next? Fake It Till You Make It. To the ML who was used to girls chasing him every time due to his good looks, he was intrigued by the FL who was the opposite and was good at keeping her distance and at first he said he wanted to continue with the fake dating to keep women off his back. The ML has never been in a serious relationship owing to his childhood background of being raised by multiple stepmothers because his father remarried several times. He’s actually close to a couple of his stepmoms so he never followed in his father’s footsteps by playing fast and loose with women. I like how the pacing of the story is fast with no fillers. I also like that there is no love triangle, although ML did become jealous of the FL’s ex boyfriend for a while. Their first kiss happened in episode 1. ML’s first confession was in episode 3. His second confession was in episode 5 and that’s when their relationship became official. At first they had to adjust to each other, nothing big really, ML was just a tad more clingy than the FL who sometimes want her “me time”. Good thing they communicate with each other and not let things drag on become a big misunderstanding. Their other issues were resolved quickly as well. HEA. Total of 9 episodes.

I love this drama description from Jacque Paul, so I copied/pasted it below:
Okay y’all, I just finished Prisoner of Beauty and lemme tell you—whoever put this on the list, you deserve a crown, a medal, and free dumplings for life ???.
It’s like watching two very pretty people argue like an old married couple while looking like they stepped out of a silk painting ?. Song Zu’er? She got more expressions than my emoji keyboard ????. Liu Yuning? Tall, broody, and hot—like a grumpy teapot that slowly starts simmering with love ??. Their chemistry? Whew, it’s like slow-roasting a marshmallow—takes time but totally melts you.
AND best thing—no dumb breakups, no "I saw you with another woman" drama ?. They bicker, then actually talk it out like adults. Imagine that! ? The four generals and the advisor? Absolute clowns in armour ??️. And General Wei Liang... sweet baby marshmallow in battle gear ??. OST is like fairy dust in your ears, the visuals are golden and glowing like a skincare ad ?✨. 10/10 would watch again and lie to myself about “just one episode.” ???

This was kindly recommended by Arpar, one of our drama watchers. It’s not heavy on the romance but there is still great chemistry between the ML and FL. They only got together in the last episode but I guess better late than never. No break up but the FL had to travel overseas for work so ML waited for her. It’s a low-stress and angst drama. @ Arpar, thanks for recommending this!

  • Be My Dream Family

    283. Be My Dream Family

    Korean Drama - 2021, 120 episodes

!ALERT! PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS JUST A SPECIAL MENTION AND DOES NOT EXACTLY FIT OUR THEME SO PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SKIP IF THIS IS NOT YOUR CUP OF TEA. Courtesy of our drama forum friend  (copied/pasted from Lostfaceit’s post). Sorry I had to trim this since it allows 2000 words only.

“Multiple couples. I'll list those with the most screen time:
    1) A middle-aged married couple, married from the start. Basically devoted to each other for 120 episodes.
    2) A young college couple - start the series in a fight/'broken up', but quickly make up. They are the cutest couple here.
    3) The elderly couple, married from the start. They had one big fight where the woman was considering divorce, but it didn't happen.
    4) Another middle aged couple. They start married, but for about 90 episodes they basically hate each other, but they eventually resolved it and became a loving (albeit still a bit bickering) couple afterwards.
    5) The 'in-laws' couple.  Had absolutely no major conflicts once together, though both the man/woman dated someone else in the episodes beforehand. My favorite couple of the bunch.
    6) The cupid couple - they are in a 'contractual' relationship at first, to help the woman get over her unrequited love and for the man to spend his time with someone before he leaves the country. There is a break-up for this, but it's not really a break-up since they weren't really dating. Once they do start dating, they only have LDR that starts at the end of the second-to-last episode and ends in the last one. They are not broken-up during LDR.
    7) The parents couple. No break up, but they get together only in the last episodes”

  • The Seven Relics of Ill Omen

    284. The Seven Relics of Ill Omen

    Chinese Drama - 2025, 32 episodes

@ Arpar: Thank you for this special mention. . Below is a copy/paste of your post to give others an idea of what to expect in this drama. From what I understand this is more a mystery and adventure but still has enough romance for those who like it in their dramas.

“I want to suggest the Seven relics of Ill Omen. A great drama that blends action, mystery, suspense, romance, adventure and some comedy. Once the main leads are together there is no official breakup or official separation. There's a plot twist with the FL halfway through that causes an unofficial separation between ml and fl, but the ML never gave up and it's never an official breakup and doesn't last long at all. Hard to explain without spoilers, but overall once the leads are officially together, they are very supportive and understanding of each other, a great relationship. Not a drama to be taken too seriously, this is not a romance drama primarily, more a mystery and adventure drama, with romance throughout, just a fun, enjoyable watch.”

  • Be Passionately in Love

    285. Be Passionately in Love

    Chinese Drama - 2025, 24 episodes

****SPECIAL MENTION (does not fit the NBU list but still worthwhile to watch)***** The ML and FL met when they were nearing high school graduation. They lived in the same city but went to different high schools. So the timing was not the best for them to start any serious relationship as they have different plans and goals for college. ML’s family intended for him to study abroad and the FL will also go to one of the universities in one of their major cities. Yet they were drawn to each other and spent time together, unofficially “dating” with the intent to end up things between them once they started College. Afterwards, although they were unwilling to part ways they still went their separate ways. But only after a few months of separation, the ML was back from Europe and he went to the same university where the FL was, where he chased after her again to win her back. They became an official couple in episode 18 and were a solid couple after that. Although this does not totally fit the NBU list, the break was not hard to take and I personally did not find it at all painful to watch.

    Chinese Drama - 2025, 24 episodes

Here’s a copied/paste post from  arpar below regarding this drama. Thanks for your recommendation, arpar, much appreciated!

“I want to mention 'In the name of blossom', the second season of flourished peony, so both should be added if season 1 isn't already. Just a heads up, there's an almost break up, but technically they're not together yet then (they were married and he wanted to divorce to protect her, but they had not admitted their feelings for each other at that time/weren't official, initially only married to protect FL). They slowly developed feelings for each other, and once they admitted their feelings for each other, they never broke up. They supported each other so much, saving each other and helping each other through troubles and schemes. Spoiler, the ML is thought to be dead at one time, but even then the FL dreams about him and misses him. So I don't consider this a break up. Once he heals from his injuries, he finds her and they continue their relationship like nothing happened. They reunite quite quickly. Overall, a really nice drama, with a really healthy and sweet relationship once they get together. The ML and FL have great chemistry! It does take a while before they become official and share their feelings though, especially if you watch season 1 and 2 together.”

  • Marry My Husband: Japan

    288. Marry My Husband: Japan

    Japanese Drama - 2025, 10 episodes

    Copied from Trailblaze’s post:
I haven't watched the original (and neither do I plan to), so my thoughts reflect the show as a standalone drama and not a remake. This fits the list almost perfectly because the relationship is really healthy, and they (initially only the male lead) always got each other's back irrespective of the misery they are put through. Almost perfectly because the male lead had to resolve some issues on his side, so he leaves for like 10 minutes. I honestly think that wasn't a break up because as viewers we are fed with both perspectives, so you can see that there are no misunderstandings between the leads whatsoever. The number of episodes were perfect because they managed to wrap the series without rushing or bogging us down with irrevelevant plots. All characters are fleshed out and consistent, including the villains, which was the strongest point of the show for me. No glaring plot holes to break the immersion either. A green flag male lead is always a bonus, and the female lead deserved him. It's an amazing watch for fans of jdramas and a great introduction to the rest.

                                                                                                                             Thanks for sharing this, Trailblaze!

  • Coroner's Diary

    289. Coroner's Diary

    Chinese Drama - 2025, 38 episodes

Thank you to both Sai and Arpar for this recommendation.

Copied from Arpar’s Post: Coroner's Diary in my opinion is the perfect blend of mystery, crime and romance. The mystery/murder cases are entertaining and thrilling. The main big case and big villain keep you guessing till the end. The drama does a good job of dropping hints of the eventual massive plot twist and keeps you guessing who is the true villain and whose side everyone is on. But the main event of this drama is the main romance. The relationship between the ML and FL is as close to a perfect cdrama relationship as possible. All cliches are avoided which I love. No misunderstandings, no break ups, no noble idiocy, no keeping each other guessing or waiting, nothing like that. The FL is smart, and independent. The ML is supporting and trusting. They communicate openly about what they both want and their goals and future together. They get together relatively early, no messing around. And once they are together, they are so supportive and trusting of each other. They communicate so well, with absolutely no misunderstands or break ups. Not even a single argument. Once they're official, they are fully committed to each other and nothing gets in their way, supporting each other till the end. Both of them are walking green flags, and a damn near prefect cdrama romance. They work together in perfect harmony as they investigate murder cases, while also going on secret dates and secretly flirting with each other. The 2nd and 3rd CP's are more generic, but still also cute with no break ups or misunderstandings. Honestly, the romance between all 3 cp's provides a nice warm and cute contrast to the mystery and murder cases. Overall, this drama is a really, really well made mystery, crime and romance historical cdrama. A true dark horse of 2025. And the main CP is exactly who this list was created for.

  • Deep Affection Eyes

    290. Deep Affection Eyes

    Chinese Drama - 2025, 26 episodes

Some Spoilers.…There are some misunderstandings (what’s a drama without one) but I personally think they’re tolerable enough, although maybe it’s not for someone who prefers their dramas fluffy and stress-free. But if you could bear it, the story is really lovely and worthwhile to watch. The ML’s mom is the villain in this drama and she was very hateful indeed. Chemistry between the leads was solid (FL is stunning and alluring), there are some lighthearted moments including the FL’s aunts and their interactions, the botched confession from someone pursuing the FL, and the ML’s  jealousies (even of a cat) which are just lighthearted touches and not coming across as true red flags. But the magic word I saw on one comment, “NO BREAK UP WITH A HAPPY ENDING” sealed the deal. Plus a marriage halfway through the drama and a baby on the way in the last couple of episodes.

Anyway, thanks also for bringing this to our attention , Jill and LinaB!

  • Perfect Match

    291. Perfect Match

    Chinese Drama - 2025, 36 episodes

Posted by Jacque Paul…..BIG thanks to you!!!

Hey hey just noticed Perfect Match is missing from your drama list! Thought you might’ve skipped it ‘cos you're allergic to breakups , but guess what? This one's got six couples and zero heartbreak. Yup, not one breakup in sight! Each pair gets their own screen time and happy ending buffet  Give it a go when you want something light, pretty, and packed with romance in bite-sized servings! ✨ Perfect Match is like ordering one bubble tea  and ending up with six flavours in the same cup. Confusing? A little.  Entertaining? Absolutely. This drama feels like six mini-romances got together and decided to take turns stealing the spotlight. And guess what? It actually works! What I loved is how each couple gets their moment, no messy love triangles or dramatic breakups every five minutes. You get to fully invest in one love story before hopping to the next. It’s like a rotating buffet of romance. Win-win. The cast? Gorgeous. ✨ Like, where do they find these people? Some performances were top-tier, some felt like they were still warming up but overall, it kept me watching. Even the ones who needed a little more seasoning still served enough flavour to stay on the plate. The story is light, sweet, and full of those feel-good moments that make you grin like a goof . Sure, it’s not deep or groundbreaking , but it delivers exactly what it promises: a colourful mix of love stories , pretty faces, and enough fluff to float a pillow fort. Would I rewatch it? Probably not the whole thing, but a few couple arcs, Yes, please! Perfect Match? More like Perfect Platter. Take a bite, pick your fave, and enjoy the ride.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ (4 out of 5 stars) Romantic, fun, and binge-worthy , just a bit of seasoning short of perfection!

    293. The First Night with the Duke

SPOILER ALERT…….No break up, happy ending with half a dozen kids at the end. Great chemistry between the main couple, ML had to do a lot of convincing for the FL’s family to give her to him in marriage even though he told them frankly that they have already done the deed. ML fell first and fell even  harder. He also proposed marriage earlier on. If you just watch  without comparing the live adaptation to the original manhwa story, you would be able to appreciate this. I just pretended this is different from the original manhwa that I’ve read already, so it was an enjoyable watch for me.

  • Legend of the Female General

    294. Legend of the Female General

    Chinese Drama - 2025, 36 episodes

Posted by arpar. Thanks for recommending this one

“Want to suggest Legend of the female general.
The ML and FL have such cute and perfect chemistry. While they don't get together till late, throughout the drama they have a supportive relationship, helping each other through the trials of war and the plots and schemes of their enemies. They soon fall for each other but keep it a secret from each other until they finally confess get together. A small hiccup when they get together, due to plotting of the 2ml, the 2ml gets decreed to marry her (even though the ML and FL are together and agreed to marry). However, as soon as the decree is given to her, FL marches to the palace and says to the emperor she will only marry ML or stay single forever. ML after discussion with his brother, goes to FL and says the same, she is his wife and no one else. So it's not a break up or misunderstanding, resolved in the same episode. Overall they are so cute together, with arguably the most perfect confession ever in ep 29/30. Plus all this is happening during the backdrop of battles and warfare. The FL is a total badass (when she's not being cute around the ML). This drama has some epic action scenes which the FL carries, with superb fighting choreography. The FL is a total, no mercy badass when she needs to be. the ML himself, is a deadly general, with a heart of stone to all except those close to him. The romance, mixed with great fighting and battles scenes, make for a great mix of romance and action, carried by the chemistry between the ML and FL.”

  • Si Jin

    295. Si Jin

    Chinese Drama - 2025, 40 episodes

Thank you for this post below, asMischa :

“I don't know why another comment here says differently, so I was pleasantly surprised, but there's no breakup in Si Jin.
(this will be a bit spoilery)
There is one part where he is told to marry her+someone else and he fights it but they stand by each other through all this, and it's very short, two episodes max. before it gets solved.
And at the end they separate for not even full two episodes because of plot but it's not angsty (there is even a bit of a humor in it) and they happily reunite.
    So yeah no breakup.”
