Dramas Where Main Leads Had No Official or Long Breakup
PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF MY COMMENTS ON THE DRAMA LIST MAY CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS, SO PLEASE DO NOT PROCEED TO READ THE DESCRIPTIONS BELOW IF YOU DON’T LIKE SPOILERS……I always always appreciate it when I find a drama where the couple get together and never parted ways no matter what tough challenges they face in their life and relationship. The plot formula for these dramas are usually not complete without any angst of sorts, even without the break up. Some angsty parts are more tolerable, but it depends really on how much the viewers can tolerate. The title is “Dramas Where Main Leads Had No Official Breakup”. Hence, this list was created as such. Couples fight and have conflicts/misunderstandings and the way they resolve those issues are what makes their relationship work in the long run. Those who cannot take watching some of the conflicts that arise from the mains’ relationships probably need to look under the “Low Angst Dramas” list. You will find couples with misunderstandings on this list but that does not mean they broke up officially just because of that. They worked to resolve their issues and became stronger, and got their HAPPY ENDING in the end.

301. Return of the Queen
Chinese Drama - 2025, 24 episodes
Posted so kindly by Jacque Paul :
“Heya drama family, just watched Return of the Queen and here’s my two-cents , in the most regal, tea-spilling way possible:
This drama grabbed me from episode one, like “Wait, what is this juicy scandal?” It served betrayal, redemption, corporate scheming, and love with enough flair to make a crown sparkle. The way Xu Haimeng cuts ties, uncovers Lu family dirt, then builds Yunhai Group back up - it’s like watching someone dismantle a LEGO castle and then rebuild it bigger and better.
The leads are magnetic, the plot moves fast but not confusingly, and the emotional beats land where they’re supposed to. If you like power plays, family secrets, and romance shaded with real vulnerability, this one might be a crown jewel for you.
Our Queen FL walks in like, “Bow down, peasants,” and honestly, everyone just should. The way she slays in boardrooms and breakups alike , give that woman an Oscar, or at least a lifetime supply of power suits.
And the ML? Fresh baby-faced like he just walked out of skincare commercial heaven. Half the time I was like, “Sir, are you here to run a company or audition for K-beauty ads?” His wide-eyed looks next to the Queen’s razor-sharp glare were priceless, it felt like watching a kitten try to keep up with a lioness.
Overall: highly recommend , just make sure your dramamine’s ready ’cause it’s a wild ride.
Verdict: A fun, feisty rollercoaster with enough drama to fuel your gossip cravings and enough heart to make you cheer for the Queen’s reign. Long live her majesty!” -

303. Fated Hearts
Chinese Drama - 2025, 38 episodes
Thanks again for this post, arpar!
“Have to recommend Fated Hearts. Absolute gem of a drama. Li Qin and CZY are perfect as two, killer, ruthless generals from enemy countries who fall in love. Once they are together, they have an incredibly supportive with a very strong relationship, nothing able to get in between them, no misunderstandings and no break ups at all. They stick by each other, defend each other, support each other no matter what. The FL reminds me of the FL in a journey to love, she is badass, strong and independent. She does not overly rely on ML. And ML also does not overly rely on FL. He also is known as a killer god but he has a soft heart. Together, their chemistry is incredible, they get together officially around the half way mark (can't remember exactly), and from then on are incredibly supportive of each other, no matter what. The action in this drama is also top notch. Li Qin shines as a lethal female general, who is incredibly capable. CZY also shines as a ruthless general/prince. They make a perfect pair, a beautifully developed romance, that started from enemies and transformed into lovers, very well written and acted. Every episode was entertaining, no drag or filler. The villains also have backstories which motivate their actions, giving them some depth, and the eventual defeat of each villain was incredibly satisfying. However, the drama is carried by ML and FL and their incredible relationships forged through bloody battles. Great drama.”

304. Love beyond the Curse
Chinese Drama - 2025, 23 episodes
Thanks for posting this one, asMischa!
”Love Beyond The Curse - no breakup here. A bit of a back-and-forth at the beginning but there's no drama between them once they admit their feelings for each other. At the very end there is a short part where it seems he died but she brings him back (since it's a short form drama, it's really a very short part). I actually enjoyed this one a lot for a webdrama, of course it was not perfect and overall more basic, but the story was pretty straightforward without the creators doing too much, so it fit perfectly for the format.”

305. The Midnight Romance in Hagwon
Korean Drama - 2024, 16 episodes
Yayyy, another one posted by asMischa. Thank you!
“Hopefully I did not overlook this one on this list as it's not a new-new drama, but there's no breakup in The Midnight Romance in Hagwon! It portrays more of a mature relationship (I was a bit reminded of One Spring Night or Something in the Rain). The story itself gets kinda dramatic at times, but the relationship between the leads stays strong through it all, and they get together pretty early, I think it was episode 8.” -
306. Bon Appetit, Your Majesty
Korean Drama - 2025, 12 episodes
I have just finished watching the last episode and for a 12-episode drama, this is pretty filled with just the right amount of intrigue, fantasy, romance, and good laughs. A modern-day top chef got blown away from a plane into Joseon dimension and the hilarity ensues. Even just watching the cooking show with a Joseon-French fusion twist and seeing the reactions of the ML (the Joseon king) as well as the rest of the characters who got to taste the FL’s food are worth the watch lol. SPOILER ALERT (DO NOT READ FURTHER IF YOU HATE SPOILERS) …. in the last few minutes of the episode the FL died, floating up into the light before disappearing into thin air while the ML was left behind sobbing his heart out . It wasn’t so heartbreaking actually because they were reunited swiftly (a month‘s time skip in TV time and a few minutes in our time). Just suspend your disbelief on how the king was able to follow the FL in modern times with all his memories intact and in his original body and you’ll be satisfied that they got their happy ending together. This one is on the NBU list because this is really a rather fluffy show with hardly any angst . Don‘t let the part where they briefly parted get in the way of enjoying the whole show. And don’t watch the show on an empty stomach! :)

307. The Yakuza Boss's Beloved
Japanese Drama - 2025, 8 episodes
I also like these shows where the ML is caring and gentle to his love interest but can have a darker side to him, too. That’s probably why I like reading manhwas with yandere male characters. But only in fictional stories, though, because in real life I like to be safe LOL. The main couple got together in episode 4 and there is a lot of intimacy and skinship in this drama as is expected in a couple in love and affectionate with each other. The conflict stems from the FL’s mental and emotional dilemma on whether she could live with the kind of risks and danger she’d be exposed to as the one great weakness of a crime boss with lots of enemies. But I guess those two are truly in love so they never parted ways and decided to live their life together as a fully committed couple. This has a happy ending and not a lot of angst.

308. Seal My Lips with a Kiss.
Japanese Drama - 2025, 10 episodes
@ Isra15: Thank you so much for recommending this, I’m looking forward to watching this one. To our NBU drama forum friends, I’m adding this office romance drama and according to Isra15, there is no break up, main couple has great swoon-worthy chemistry together with the ML giving off obsessive, head-over-heels vibes over the FL.

309. Would You Marry Me?
Korean Drama - 2025, 12 episodes
Recommended by VanceDanceLance with some details below added by drama_lover119, thank you both.
A little SPOILER: “FL asked for a breakup because of the threat from her toxic ex, which might implicate ML. FL avoided ML sometimes, but ML didn’t agree to a breakup; instead, he figured out the reason and got back together in the same episode.”

312. Love on the Turquoise Land
Chinese Drama - 2025, 32 episodes
I love arpar’s notes on this one: The ML and FL and their relationship in this reminded me a bit of FH. ML and FL are both strong, independent and capable individuals by themselves, but together, they are at their best. Started out as enemies, quickly developed to friends/allies and then finally a committed, supportive relationship. They get together around the half way mark and after they're together (and even before), they are incredibly supportive of each other, no break up throughout, not even an argument or misunderstanding, a calming, supportive and peaceful relationship. Near the end FL loses her memory (I know classic trope). It happens in ep 31 after ML saves FL from being trapped in something. She forgets ML but I don't see this as a break up. ML continually cares for her and stays by her side, slowly melting her defenses. Mid way through ep 31 she starts missing his presence and begins to spend more time with him. We see them bickering, it’s pretty funny. It wasn’t really an angst memory loss. She remembers mid way through ep 32 (so it lasts about an ep and a half) and then a HE after that.
The drama overall was a mix of mystery, supernatural, action and romance, with a sometimes creepy (in a good way) vibe. I really liked when the series leaned in to its supernatural/horror genre, I think it shined with its creepy/unsettling scenes, wish there were more of them. Besides that, the romance was the high point of the show. The show was carried by ML and FL, the female lead villain and with a shout out to the badass whip supporting actress.
Overall an enjoyable watch. Some filler and some boring moments, but the chemistry between the ML and FL and their perfect relationship, along with the very engaging female lead villain, helped carry me through those moments.
