Kubota Mantaro was a Japanese novelist, playwright, and haiku poet born in Asakusa, Japan. He was a member of the Japan Art Academy, a recipient of the Order of Culture, and awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure (Third Class) and the Order of the Rising Sun (First Class).

He gained attention as a playwright while still a student at Keio University and participated in the founding of the Bungei-za theater company after working at the Tsukiji-za theater. He served as the chairman of the Japan Theatre Arts Association and played a significant role in both literary and theatrical circles.
