In 1992, Kimura graduated from the Faculty of Comparative Culture at Sophia University. She then pursued an exchange program at Goldsmiths College, London University, in 1993.
Following her education, Kimura joined Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation (YTV) in 1993, where she initially worked in public relations before transitioning to the variety production department as a director. Subsequently, she moved to the drama production department.
In 2001, Kimura left Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation. Two years later, in 2003, she became the Vice President of Digital Hollywood Entertainment Co., Ltd. (formerly known as DHE).
In 2012, Kimura established Dream Plus Co., Ltd. after separating the video production department from DHE. She assumed the role of President and CEO at Dream Plus.
In 2013, Dream Plus Co., Ltd.'s production department was integrated into Media Mix Japan Co., Ltd. (MMJ), and Kimura became a director at MMJ.
However, she left Media Mix Japan Co., Ltd. in 2015 and returned to her position as President and CEO of Dream Plus Co., Ltd.
