Originally working in accounting at Iwanami Films, she became interested in film work and joined Daiichi Kosho in 1985. With her family background in a clothing store, she decided to pursue costume design, believing that if she were to work in the industry, it would be in costumes.
In 1988, she became freelance and has since worked as a stylist and costume designer for numerous films, ranging from major productions to independent films. In 1998, she opened the cinema "Cinema Shimokitazawa" in Shimokitazawa and served as its manager.
