He made his debut in 1990 with a role in the Korean adaptation of the play "Equus". He has appeared in many stage plays over the past decades.

He married actress Kang Myung Joo, and the couple had two daughters, the eldest being actress Park Se Young (born in 1999).

He is represented by Yangtae Company (양태컴퍼니).
