Zico

  • Name: Zico
  • Native name: 지코
  • Also Known as: 우지호, U Ji Ho, Jiko
  • Nationality: South Korean
  • Gender: Male
  • Born: September 14, 1992
  • Age: 33
Woo Ji Ho, known professionally as Zico, is a South Korean singer-songwriter, producer, composer and member of BLOCK B (블락비). He graduated from Seoul Practical Music High School and later obtained an associate's degree in Theater and Film from Dong-ah Institute of Media and Arts and a master's degree in Postmodern Music from Kyunghee University. He is the younger brother of former SPEED member Woo Tae Woon.

He began his career in 2009, promoting alongside Park Kyung in underground clubs. They released the digital single "The Letter".

As part of BLOCK B, he made his debut in April 2011 as the group's leader, main rapper, vocalist and face of the group with the digital single, "Do U Wanna B?". The group was created by Cho PD and Stardom Entertainment (스타덤 엔터테인먼트) and enjoyed some success in their early years.

In January 2013, all members filed a lawsuit against the agency for allegedly withholding their payments and not providing opportunities to promote and train. In June of that year, the court ruled in favor of Stardom, and the case was dismissed.

In August 2013, the group transferred to KQ Entertainment (KQ 엔터테인먼트) and obtained commercial success with the following 3 single albums, debuted in Japan and held concerts in Europe and the U.S.

In January 2018, the group released a repackage of their previous album titled "Re: Montage" before taking an indefinite hiatus to fulfill military enlistments and focus on other activities.

In November 2018, he left KQ Entertainment and became the CEO of his own label, KOZ Entertainment (KOZ 엔터테인먼트). It was later acquired by HYBE (하이브) in November 2020 but remains mostly independent. He also became part of several R&B and hip-hop crews, such as BUCKWILDS and FANXY CHILD.

He enlisted for his mandatory military service on July 30, 2020, and was discharged on April 29, 2022.

He briefly reunited with his group mates during an episode of "The Seasons Season 5" (with him as the show's host), and talks of a possible comeback have been held, but nothing official has been announced. BLOCK B has never officially disbanded, and despite not having released any new material for almost a decade, the group retains a strong domestic fanbase.

He is the main producer and general manager of BOYNEXTDOOR.
