Before debuting, she was supposed to become a traditional Korean musician as her grandfather is the 17th Intangible Cultural Property of Daejeon. However, her family faced financial problems, and she entered regional singing competitions so she could win the money prize for her family.
She made her debut in 2006 with a role in the musical "The Lion King". She quickly established herself as one of South Korea's top musical actresses.
In 2015, she married fellow musical actor Yoon Eun Chae (now known professionally as Yoon Tae On) after only dating for 6 months. The couple has one son.
