Min Woo Noh

Noh Min Woo

  • Name: Noh Min Woo
  • Native name: 노민우
  • Also Known as: No Min Woo, ICON, No Min U, MINUE
  • Nationality: South Korean
  • Gender: Male
  • Born: May 29, 1986
  • Age: 38
Noh Min Woo is a South Korean singer, musician, actor, former member of TRAX (트랙스; previously known as THE TRAX and TRAXX), and current member of THE MIDNIGHT ROMANCE (더 미드나잇 로맨스). He graduated from Yongmun High School and later obtained a bachelor's degree in Theater and Film from Inha University. He is the older brother of singer Noh Jeong Hun (known professionally as I'll).

He made his debut in July 2004 (using the stage name Rose) as THE TRAX's sub-vocalist, drummer and percussionist with their first single, "Paradox". However, SM Entertainment (SM엔터테인먼트) announced his departure from the band in May 2006 without giving an explanation to the fans.

In 2006, he briefly became a guest guitarist for the band THE ROMANTIST, but they disbanded shortly after he joined. Then, in 2009, he became part of a project trio called 24/7 alongside actors Hyun Woo and Lee Jang Woo. They made their debut with the single "24 Hours a Day, 7 Days a Week" but did not release any new material after that.

He began his acting career in late 2008 but became widely known for his roles in the 2010 drama "Pasta" and "My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho". He also began appearing in Japanese and Chinese dramas as he is much more popular in those countries than in South Korea.

In 2013, he formed a three-member rock band under the stage name ICON and released their first single album, "Iconic Oh Disco Rock Star". After they disbanded, he has been working as a solo artist under the stage name MINUE.

In April 2015, he sued SM Entertainment, looking to terminate his contract. He claimed that he signed a 17-year exclusive contract, but due to the creative differences between the company and him, SM kept interfering, and he lost several projects in South Korea (hence his popularity abroad). He was looking for 100 million KRW in compensation.

He enlisted for his mandatory military service on October 21, 2016, and was discharged on July 20, 2018. While serving, he lost the lawsuit and later also lost the appeal, as he could not provide enough evidence in his favor. However, the Court determined his contract to be invalid.

After his military service, he returned to acting in 2019 with the lead role in the MBC drama "Partners for Justice 2".

In July 2020, he re-debuted as the leader of THE MIDNIGHT ROMANCE with their self-titled single album. He also debuted as a musical actor in August 2022 with a role in the musical "Elisabeth".
