She was born in Setagaya, Tokyo. She graduated from Jissen Women's University's Department of English Literature. After graduating, she worked in the editorial division of the English language magazine "This is Japan".

In 1966, she made her debut as a talent in a children's program under the name "Midori". Following that, she began appearing in other variety and information programs as well as acting in TV dramas.

In 1978, she married Aikawa Kinya, an actor and talent. Though Aikawa was reportedly caught having an affair in 2007, they remained married until his death in 2015. After which, she took a year off from entertainment-related activities before returning in August of 2016. Edit Biography
