Sai Yoichi was a Japanese film director, screenwriter and actor. He was a second-generation Korean in Japan. His Korean name was Choi Yang Il.

Sai Yoichi was the focus of a tribute program titled "Signals: focus on Sai Yoichi" at the 39th International Film Festival Rotterdam. He was also a jury member for the "International Jury of Golden Goblet Award" at the 2011 (14th) Shanghai International Film Festival.

He died on November 27, 2022 at the age of 73 due to bladder cancer. Edit Biography
