Yakumaru Gaku is a Japanese novelist born in Akashi City, Hyogo Prefecture. He graduated from Komazawa University Senior High School in 1988. He made his debut in 2005 and is a current member of the Mystery Writers of Japan.

He passed the Tokyo Kid Brothers enrollment test, but musicals didn't feel like his thing and he gave up and left the group after about half a year. After that, he started working as a bartender and began to learn scriptwriting, and graduated from the Writers Guild of Japan Writer's School 66th term. He studied under Saijo Michihiko Saijo, a scriptwriter of the Writers Guild of Japan.

The screenwriter path did not produce any results, and he began to aim to become a manga author, and although he was selected as an honorable mention in "MANGA Allman", he also felt a dead end on that path.
