Ishimaru graduated from Tokyo High School and dropped out of the Faculty of Engineering, Shibaura Institute of Technology.

On December 4, 2019, it was certified as a Guinness World Record that he had "the largest number of dubbed movies by the same voice actor".

He is married and has a son and daughter.
