To all the people who are complaining about the absence of Jin's back story, I want to ask you: in what way it…
well everyone hated Tee then saw episode 11 and now not so much. People hate Jin, I believe partly, because we know nothing about him and some have just attached him filming as his whole personalty, since we know nothing else. Him falling in love has been very shallow both times as well, so not much to gather there, why does he fall in love so quickly for example?
If we get nuance to a character we get more invested, understand their actions and have an easier time relating/ liking/ disliking them. That is my opinion, however I also agree with your point that some characters don't necessarily need a backstory as that just take away precious time that could have been spent on something of worth. But I see giving Jin more of a personality would have been a win considering we are basically supposed to root for him and Phee. Some of the other characters not having a background story I understand.
I actually was really intrigued about the dynamics between Phee and Jin after watching the first few episodes, like how did their story start? Why is there so much pent up emotions? They way they glanced at each other and Jin looking away etc for it to simply fall flat with them meeting and falling in love in the past (in the spann of practically a day) and now act like an old couple basically. I don't know, guess a backstory would not fix that but at least the writers would know Jin and could make a better story overall.
so I was on another page (DFF) and someone suggested Copper from that series with Net and I really like it somehow (possibly impossible though). Then I remember FirstOne in Domundi, him and Net would look good I imagine. I thought he might not have a partner yet but maybe he does, even if I guess his focus is singing and not acting...
I hope Non is dead. There is no way he can recover and live a normal life after all he as been through, let him rest. Also, everything New/ Tan has done in the present would be moot if Non is alive, his parent died for nothing etc. It would be as bad as this whole series is a dream sequence/ script written by Non.
I think it was a mistake by BOC to give us TaBarcode. That made everyone who likes the idea of them together since KinnPorshe get even more angry when they aren't end game. Made worse with the PheeJin 'getting-together-arc' being very lackluster in comparison.
Like the hate Jin gets when the only bad thing he did was film (when other characters have done more and way worse) is a product of the production team showcasing what "could have been" with TaCode in my opinion. Now the people who wanted Phee and Non togehter use that as a way to hate on Jin and to see no nuance, everything good Jin did is non-existent because it does not fit the narrative.
I wonder what would have been the reason for the Jin hate train if he hadn't filmed the video? What would they have zeroed in on then as a reason for hating on him. Even worse when the actor is getting hated on by delusional fans who feel he is in the way of their dream ship. I hope Copper moves to another company and TaBarcode can be a ship for everyones peace of mind.
BOC did TaCopper dirty if they were supposed to be main lead considering we know almost nothing about Jin than his friend group and the screen time for him and Ta is tiny. Don't get me wrong, I can see that everyone is listed as main characters but I was under the impression (after hearing about the reality show THC leading up to this series) that they would have a bigger impact/ role.
I think the focus on Non thought this series did not help squash the Jin-hate-train but instead fuel it. We know a lot about Non but nothing about Jin's family life, his hopes and dreams. Everyone but Non is a incomplete background character.
so after watching episode 11 I'm a little confused, I'm sure that White implied that he had to convince Tee to let him come along for this trip in one of the earlier episodes but now in episode 11 he said he never wanted to go, basically implying that Tee convince/ persuaded him? Am I mistaken or have they done goofed here?
At this point i guess everybody's minds are too frieð to react- they are practically numb (by the drugs as well…
I agree. I also think that the reactions where a little small considering all the revelations in this episode but I think of it like you with them being just overwhelmed with the situation as a whole, but I also can't help but think that time restraint is a reason as well. Considering ep 10 is the second to last and they spent so much time on Non and his (for a lack of a better word) feelings.
Okay.. Jason Lee wants Aob, Jump and Nont dead right ? So let's look all of their plans to make them safe:-Porsche…
Okay I might be the only one but I thought Prom's reason for going to the hotel was reasonably as the people looking for them should not expect them to go back there.
(in reality though I assume they reuse the set to save money haha)
Also, poor Prom, his house is burned down but he said it so casual like it was nothing
I have a genuine question here. How does one watches a series by skipping through scenes? So you basically have…
oh no I don't skip everything but some scenes just drag for too long and I'm not really into sex scenes (and I don't care for most couples).
The scenes with Nont in them are the ones with the actual story since he moves the plot along. The others are too busy speaking English and being cringe (my opinion) with their lovey-dovey talk and sex escapades. Sex I know is a big part of the series of course so I can't fault it for having much of it, but when I first gave the series a try when it came out I didn't enjoy it but after deciding to give it another try recently I skip what I don't care for.
I knew most of the story from the yt clips I have come across before, they made me interested in First and Soong but I don't care for them after watching the series so when they are alone I just skip. The reason I like Prom and Nont are because they always talk about the plot and their dynamic is interesting with Prom being suspicious and I got really invested in the story with the missing brother
White's character has not been exposed yet.. he probably is more than you see otherwise would not have been main…
White could be just a random boyfriend but I think that would not make him useless as he might be there to humanise Tee a bit to the audience.
Since all we have seen of Tee so far has been less than favourable, White being there makes us see a different side to Tee. Some white to his black characters making him a little grey and more likeable.
You really want to start our first combustion reaction in our comments section. Some people in here are big fans…
oh really? I haven't really checked the comment section on this series out much, I guess I better watch out ;)
Maybe I'm just old-fashioned. I don't even like the shoes most of them are wearing, the pointy ones with heels, look so feminine to me it looks off on men (in my humble opinion, everyone can wear what they like obviously).
Anyway, one could think I really care about the clothes reading this but generally I don't care... I guess I just find the styling choices in this series so out there
okay so I confess I skip most scenes unless they have Nont or Prom in them but even so, the amount of times there is seconds long stares between the characters is weird. Even more so when Zouey is one of them as he looks constipated most of the time, I assume it is supposed to come of as pained or something but jesus, the stares are overused and make me cringe.
Especially when they don't change expression, like start smiling or something. They just hold their expressions for seconds until the scene change (I assume Zouey took a bathroom break in-between scenes). Also, I just want to grab his glasses, fix the backpart and put them back on so they don't slip down his nose. I have always thought that look looks ridiculous, like why even wear glasses if you are not gonna look through them?
On the topic of glasses, Prom is one of those people who I find look so good in glasses/ have the perfect type of glasses to compliment his face
what is with the outfits? Like some are so ridiculous I feel the need to laugh, Nonts pants are hilarious. I wonder why they went so weird wardrobe wise.
And no-one in the series is addressing it or at least mention the weird styling. Like if my friend dressed like that I would not be able to stop staring. Nont does look good in the white tank-top with the black outline though haha
there was multiple times actually when non went to back out of the project and it was always jin who brought him…
yeah I don't like the story either anymore, I will still watch next weekend but my excitement for the story has dwindled considerably. I was so looking forward to the backstory of PheeJin but it is all the mess, ep 9 is messy and makes no sense to me.
Him falling in love has been very shallow both times as well, so not much to gather there, why does he fall in love so quickly for example?
