On Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends Jun 18, 2024
Himura Kenshin was such a skilled swordsman that he became a living legend and was feared by many, now seen utilising his newfound form of fighting without killing his opponents, it places him on a level playing field with everyone else who was close to his level of swordsmanship.

I appreciate how Himura Kenshin is depicted as someone powerful but because of this morale constraint he placed upon himself, he is still shown either winning with a few scuffs here and there or winning completely injured all over. It gives a humanising aura to his alter ego personality as this manslaughtering legend.

For him to not only face many "strong" opponents in a row including the so-called "boss" without killing anyone and still come out victorious is beyond me (though logically they made it make sense, considering everyone was already worn out from fighting everyone else and Shishio just came at the end to "finish them off"). How dominant would he have been if he wasn't nerfed but allowed to kill?

Still excited??
I think two years of excitement is enough for me, I'll just be happy to see a teaser trailer at this point and consider the series watched XD

The second instalment of the Rurouni Kenshin Franchise has far more action that is done so flawlessly, the fight choreography is so fluent that almost each move each character makes seems so natural and attuned to their characteristics.

I will say I am a little disappointed that Kamiya Kaoru who was introduced as this warrior female in the first movie only to not demonstrate any "use" in fighting, however in the second movie proved her role as a strong female warrior only for them to make her the damsel in distress again. Like give my girl a break lol

All in all

This is my first Japanese Fantasy based samurai movie and I am very impressed.

I started with anime than expanded to kdrama/movies, expanded once again to cdrama/movies, before finally going back to where it all started in jdrama/movies. Thus far in my 8 years of watching on all different platforms of entertainment, this movie has to be the closest movie that feels very anime-like to me in a good way.

As for modern anime, the cdrama Pegasus (2024) really comes closer to that due to its aesthetic and scenery shots.

All in all I will definitely be finishing off the Rurouni Kenshin Franchise

Damn, this was my first time seeing Woo Bin in anything, searched to see more of his recent projects only to find out that this was his final project till the present day. He kind of reminds me of early 2000 Keanu Reeves, especially when he cut his hair shorter in this movie.

It was my first time seeing Kim Hee Won play a villain role too which I found surprisingly suits him

This movie was captivating from start till end, with a good mix of action and storytelling, vibes almost similar to the 'Taken' Franchise

It's quirky in a good way, almost like how Alice in Wonderland(2010) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) were just so bizarre and odd. How characters seemed psychotic and weird and not quite in their right mind (however in this case they indeed all are).

This movie was very enjoyable and does have somewhat of an open ending, since the story never really had a conflict to resolve, the ending just made sense.

This is the first Korean Rom/Com where I actually found myself laughing most of the time. This feels like something I would find myself rewatching yearly.

P.S It would've been a cool plot-twist if the FL actually didn't lose her memory all along and just pretended after seeing the ML had lost his memories out of anger that he forgot all the bad and good memories they had together.

Title The Suspect
It's like a Korean version of Jason Bourne, with a completely different storyline. So much action and thrilling scenes. Worth the watch

The Suspect is one of Gong Yoo's few best work, he really does a great job at action-thriller wish I could see him play more similar roles, maybe even in a drama

SPOILER ALERTLoved the acting and action! But well I didn't quite understand the plot. If anyone elaborated me…
I read the other replies but they seem not to have understood it as well, so I'll explain it...to put it simply you were on the right track.

Marco is indeed not related by blood to Han Yi Sa and Han Ga Young nor the man they called his father Chairman Han. The reason why the Chairman held his hand was he also believed Marco was his son. However, we come to find out that the Nobleman was behind the whole mix-up.

The Nobleman found out that he was dying (the disease was never mentioned) and after finding this out, he was also contracted to find the Son of Chairman Han. As a Kapino himself the Nobleman goes to the only Kopino Support School he knows of. It's made clear that he and the director of this school Matthew Kim are well acquainted and he tells him to "Find any tough Kapino Kid who is looking for his father" as the Nobleman wants to do one good deed before he dies.

Thus Matthew Kim places 'Marco's name forward, the Nobleman provides Marco's details to Yun Ju (The female hitman) who then goes to orchestrate the fake "hit and run" incident so she could get his body examined and DNA to confirm if Marco is the son of Chairman Han. The Nobleman however pays the Doctor off to fake the medical documents and give the fake info to Yun Ju ( If you're confused this was all shown in those rapid scenes near the end).

From this point onwards it's clear how things went, the Nobleman planned to just protect Marco the entire time, while using him as bait to get the 11 Million Dollar's for Marco and his Mother, which was the "good deed" he was referring to. However, things didn't go as smoothly as that but that's the rough summary of it all.

Now why do you think the 'Nobleman' or 'Childe' wasn't referred to by this name throughout the film but named as such in the cast and title? Simple he is someone from "noble blood" the son of a "Noble" or "Wealthy" person...Get the picture? He specifically said to Marco "Consider yourself lucky for not being a part of this family..." which he repeated to him a couple of times before revealing he is Kapino. With the name and that dialogue as a hint, we can derive that the real son of Chairman Han is none other than "The Nobleman" himself.

When he was contracted by Yun Ju to find the Son of Chairman Han, he was given pictures of the bastard Son and Mother and by his facial expression, he not only recognised the people within the photo but also realised who his Father was. This was the reason for him not even bothering to look for the real Son because he knew who it was all along.

Not sure if you watched the post-credit scene but there it get's revealed that the disease he thought he had was lung cancer from smoking a pack a day for 10 years. However, he finds out that because he went to an unregistered clinic to get this checked out, he was misdiagnosed, given medication that had side effects similar to lung cancer symptoms and in turn risked his own life thinking he was going die when in fact he wasn't lol.

I hoped that helped everything make sense.
