With all due respect, and you weren't rude, so I do have respect, I'm not, nor have I ever been an American. Nor…
I don’t think she acts like a toddler I think she acts like a young immature person. This isn’t ancient China this is a fantasy world. It’s completely different from any norm. But it’s all perspective like I said before. I was right about the character development, because in the episodes that I just watch which was 11 and 12 she’s starting to change. They also swap bodies and it shows a great display of both of their acting abilities. Every culture has their norms in entertainment, I was just saying that the Chinese put importance on how a character sounds to reflect who they are. It may be a flaw to you, but it’s not to them. Think about Chinese opera and the voices they use for it. It’s a similar comparison. their art style dictates that voice should match the inner character.

I think your review is from a very American standpoint. Yes, she has a higher pitched voice, but, that’s her real voice, AND the Chinese highly value feminine tone and attach it to character. In a lot of dramas they will alter the females voice pitch to portray what they are looking for. If the girl is young, naïve, or has to make an age transition they will do that. In ”Eternal Love” Dilraba’s voice pitch was way high because she was the “immature young fox”. On the same note they will do the same thing to the mails. If the man is supposed to be a wimp his voice gets altered to be higher pitched, strong and mainly lower. It’s how they choose to do the art form. As an American myself it drives me nuts, when I love a male actor and enjoy his voice as is and they alter it. But, I understand it’s a difference of culture. The girl voices can get very annoying, so I understand your perspective. But, on the same token they didn’t edit her voice, and she’s a good actor as well. Sadly for her she’ll probably be destined to always play naïve, young girls, unless they alter her voice. Good thing she has the perfect face for it. It’s also very American to think that a female should be strong and independent, but look at the story, she is a fairy who is alone all the time. Although she’s been alive 1000 years, she’s experienced nothing. She trusts easily, and she’s very immature. So, she needs to be saved a lot at the beginning. I’m guessing because she is the goddess that she will grow as a character and eventually take on more responsibility for her well-being. But character growth is something you have to wait for. Dylan Wang has been doing a great job. He doesn’t have a much character for now, because his emotions were pulled out of him young. All he’s ever known is world domination. I think once his tree starts to blossom, he will be much more dynamic than he is now. But, like I said character growth. I’m sorry that you aren’t getting to enjoy the show because of her character. Your truly missing a great one.
