They either don't make male characters THAT nasty in cdramas bc of nrta limitations anyway or just don't give them a typical happily ever after type of romance if they do. I don't think you should worry about that...GMP was not really the typical love story where ppl meet and fall in love and all that, it was meant to showcase what a toxic relationship with an evil man would end up like in reality. Whereas this drama is probably a normal romance lol

simple doesn't mean ugly but ugly is when you look at the garments and the fabrics look extremely cheap and tacky, the costumes have no shape or the xianxia flow and grace to them and the color choices are unflattering on the actors wearing them....and even the wigs and hair styling look cheap because there's no volume and they've been done with no regards to the actors complexion and face shape
