I wish commenters would stop talking about shipping the 2nd ML. Once he hit her with that crop, he was done, done,…
Naaa the ML acting is so onpoint. Interestingly his acting won me over, I am a sucker for Actors that act with their eyes…you can see every emotion on his face.
Besides his character was supposed to be calm and calculated. Characters like that are supposed to be less dramatic, It reminds me slightly of Wang Yibo’s character in The Untamed.
Really, the drama was exceptionally done. I followed the plot so easily and saw absolutely nothing wrong with…
Oh wow this is a lot. Almost like an essay. I can see your passion and I respect your views.
For me I prioritize strong, smart characters over anything. When a character is cunning, morally good and smart, you have won me over. The Emperor and Chen Yan completely sold me on the drama and the matured acting, same reason I love The Legend of Zhang Hai. Ofcourse I loved the romance, giving me a character that puts a woman’s need first especially in that era is a plus for me. I had no issues with the plot…I can’t even think of an issue, everything flowed seamlessly.
Yexian death scene was so nicely done, I loved every part of it. Giving me that part towards the ending was a gift. I cherished watching that.
Was the ending rushed? Yes, Do I wish the ending was done better? Yes, but it is what it is i can live with that. I have noticed that whoever directed A Splendid Match is used to directing really long dramas that they struggled compressing all they had into 40 episodes. Even with this flaw I still think the drama was a very refreshing watch and I absolutely love it.
I strongly believe that no drama is perfect. If you want to pick at any drama you are going to find something. The untamed is my favorite Cdrama in the world, even I know the CGI wasn’t perfect.
Me, myself and I is my priority. I like a drama I like it, I am not watching it because I am studying for an exam. I am watching to be entertained. Am I entertained? If the answer is “yes” nothing else matters. And I think that’s how life should be, we shouldn’t take things too seriously. We all like different things and that is ok.
At the end of the day, to be entertained is the goal of the drama industry and I was entertained. Goal Achieved
From ep 1 to 16 to 10 out of 10, then the logic left the chat and it went really so-so, but the last 5 ep were…
Really, the drama was exceptionally done. I followed the plot so easily and saw absolutely nothing wrong with it. The acting, customs, directing, the characters…A splendid match is a masterpiece.
Anyways it is ok, i understand that we all cannot possibly like thesame. We all have different views and perspectives about Life.
only on episode 35 but I gotta say I really couldn’t like the male lead too much, his character and personality…
Oh you got the vibe correct. The whole point of the show was for him to have an “Uncle Vibe” or “Dad Vibe”. He portrayed exactly what he was suppose to from the book. In the book he is much older and calmer. He did a fantastic job nailing that role for a young guy. And for you to complain about that meaning he did an AMAZING Job.
No matter how old someone is, how many relationships they have had, how many times they have been cheated on,…
Oh we definitely have different views on what we consider “manipulation” I do not agree with you that hiding the clothes thing was a bad thing, it wasn’t. Same with the cast iron fireworks. It wasn’t done for him but for her. We will keep going back and forth about this so there is actually no need to waste our time on this topic. We both have different views.
And being hurt and jealous is not a bad thing. How you handle it after is what matters. He did not handle it well by distancing himself. But his feeling of hurt and jealousy is completely valid.

I still disagree with you and we can keep going back and forth about this issue of manipulation. That example you gave is not worth calling him a manipulator, manipulators do things for their own gain not because they want to help. What she needed to know he told her, so making sure she enjoys the view of a cast iron firework is manipulation? Or slightly helping her behind her back as regarding the clothes is manipulation? Common. Like I said before, I never excused his behavior when he ignored her for days, he was very wrong for that. I only said him feeling hurt that he wasn’t told about his nephew is valid.
I think you keep mixing up feeling hurt and actually acting on it as thesame thing. I will say it once again. Feeling hurt is a different thing, acting on it is another.
Naaa he isn’t. You might like him better that is fine. He was obviously young and had to grow up which he did, and I love and respect his character-growth-journey. And in his growing up he realised that Chen Yan Yun was not the enemy.
Usually a lurker in the comments sections but this drama was done so well it's hard to let it go. Annnd bc it's…
Same. A drama hasn’t pulled me this strong in a really long time. The ML was exactly what he was suppose to be handsome, masculine, calculative, strong, matured unlike the pretty boys they usually cast that look like the wind could blow them away. I pray to see him in more historical dramas. This drama was done well. I love it
