i will go with an unfortunately coincidence :O
Rating scores are opinions. One person's 10-star masterpiece is another person's 1-star garbage

"... objectively speaking ..."

Objectively speaking, a BL adaptation that chickens out on gay romance isn't better than an actual BL/gay romance

If it's a choice between a Korean BL with a potato-quality camera and dollar store special effects or a high-budgeted production that's too chicken to explore the man-on-man lovin', I'll take the one with the potato-quality camera

This drama might as well be called "The Straight Agenda" or "Gaydar: Off"

"Straightwashing isn't a thing"

Tell that to the thousands of queer characters that have been erased from mainstream media adaptations

You don't have to watch queer shows if they're not your thing. Peace

"Queerwashing" isn't a thing

Even if there was a bit of "queerwashing" going on to explore different sexual identities for characters, it would be a natural part of fandom culture and a drop in the ocean compared to the tidal wave of straightwashing in mainstream media

"This drama includes stalking, blackmailing, bullying, suicide"Wait, people are cool with watching bullying and…
We know Yi Heon was bullied and ACCUSED of stalking and blackmailing because he's gay. Because homophobic clowns believe a boy can't like another boy without being a creep

So, your solution to homophobic bullying is to erase the gay altogether? You're trying to fix a crack in the wall by tearing down the whole house. If we censored everything that might cause outrage, we'd have to remove every character from every story!

"This drama includes stalking, blackmailing, bullying, suicide"

Wait, people are cool with watching bullying and suicide, but not with a boy liking another boy? Talk about messed up priorities

"The male lead told his friend about revealing his "true nature""

He's gonna reveal his "true nature." Is he a werewolf or something? Or a shape-shifting angel sent from the gay heavens to destroy humanity's straight-washing agenda? How would the audience know what he means by "true nature?"

They censored Yi Heon’s sexuality and turned him into a "stalker." They went ahead and censored the BL/gay romance because ... it was a small part of the story? Censoring something small that could've just been ignored is, like, totally sus

The "bury your gays" trope doesn’t apply here. The gay character returned at the end, and we wouldn't have hated it

You must be an idiot because it's not "woke" . It's literally "bl" boys love. Get your homophobic ass somewhere…
If people weren't afraid of the gay community, they wouldn't feel the need to censor them, treat them like second-class citizens, pass laws that restrict their rights, or tell everyone how "not-afraid" they are of these "alphabet people"

And with all due respect, phobia means an intense fear and an intense dislike or aversion. Most people harbor negative feelings towards the community. They are homophobic

Phobia means: An extreme or irrational fear of something, i don't think any one is afraid of the alphabet ppl.…
"Some ppl have different opinions and u should respect it"

My different opinion is that anyone who's okay with this censorship and calling gay people "alphabet people" is a homophobe. I'm stickin' to that opinion

Respect my opinion, and we'll call it even

You are not gay, you are larping as one
Who are you calling "things?" Other gay people?

"I'd rather go straight"

Internalized homophobia is a thing, and it's not a badge of honor

If you prefer censorship, that's your call, but don't drag the rest of the community into your internal conflict. Other gay people aren't "‘things," they are people, and they deserve to have their stories told

I'll make an appointment with my doctor right away. They'll diagnose me with "sane person syndrome" and tell me to worry less about teenagers being overly sexualized by this insane society

I find that some Westernized Kdramas go too far with bed scenes. It's a cheap way to get attention and not something I support

Thank you for the heads up about this drama. I was considering watching it, now I'll skip it

If it's not soft porn, what is it? A PG-rated story about puppies?

The scenes aren't explicit, so they're porn with a filter on it. Soft porn. That's basic porn logic

When you think of teenage hormones, you think of perfect mental health and healthy decision making?

Some teenagers are horny, some aren't. You and media are pressure-cooking teenagers into being horny and making decisions about their bodies before they're ready. Go see a doctor

Subtlety is what we need. Can’t have those pesky gay characters being, you know, GAY on screen. No no no, hint at their sexuality and quickly sweep it under the rug, censorship is progress, slavery is freedom, ignorance is strength! /sarcasm

Don't flatter yourselves thinking you're the smartest people in the room. Cockroaches have more brain cells than you do

"... would be people stating away from even writing bl in the first place"

What gay-erasing, bonkers-juice are you drinking? Boycotting a censored adaptation isn't a threat to future BL/gay works. People will write MORE BL/gay stories, to spite you

We want our BL/gay stories like we want our coffee, strong, hot, and unapologetically bold. Keep it real or keep it to yourselves. The demand for authenticity isn't gonna stop people from writing BL/gay stories. It’s gonna stop them from censoring those stories. No more censored kisses, no more "they're just friends"

Who are we to care so much? We are concerned citizens, of course! We have a right to care. What kind of world do you live in? I refuse to live in a world where we can only care about things that the majority agrees on or cares about

I'm a free-thinking person, and I don't need the Korean general public's approval. They want to turn a blind eye to the censorship of gay content, and that's their problem. I'm not going to sit back and watch it happen

The author might have been pressured to agree with promises of fame and fortune. Or they might have been tired of arguing with the big bad company. Either way, we are here to stand up for the little censored guy. The author's approval doesn't make censorship any less disrespectful to the gay source material

You don't know what every single gay Korean thinks of the censored adaptation. Some are okay with it, some aren't. What if a poor gay Korean wanted to see a good BL and can't because it's censored? We're standing up for that person's right to enjoy BL, he might be too shy to speak up

"... did you even know this existed before the adaptation?"

I knew about the novel

Woah, what a reach. From the series' bad rating, to global catastrophe. Let me tell you, while I wholeheartedly…
"Hypersexuality is not the word you should be using, btw"

The term "hypersexuality" can apply to society as well as individuals. "Societal-sex-obsession-mania" doesn't roll off the tongue. "Hypersexuality" it is

"AIDS crisis in the West"

AIDS was a major issue. If it hadn’t been for people having "sex," we wouldn’t have had to deal with it in the first place

"Blaming the youth"

Tell kids to get off our lawns and put down their smartphones. The world would be a better place

" ... not like your orgasm count going up"

Something being part of the human condition doesn't make it good or desirable. Remember, the human condition includes things like blisters and ingrown toenails

A rise in orgasm count might not always correlate with a rise in carbon footprint, but it does increase the likelihood of sock stains and awkward post-sex pillow talk

"Welcome to humankind, the worst species on the planet as voted by the planet and almost every species dwelling on it ..."

I’m aware humanity’s crowning achievement is being the best at being the worst. I was pointing out the generational specializations of suckage

I don't have the stamina to read or respond to the rest of the comment

Our youngest generations are shaping society with their social media-powered hedge trimmers. They've used the internet to create a gnarly labyrinth of new-age patriarchy and pseudo-scientific beliefs

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Each successive generation carries on the harmful beliefs and behaviors of their forebears

I'm not optimistic about the situation. You're more than welcome to wait and see what actions they might take

I'm discovering an appreciation for stories set in the 20th century. "Uncle Samsik" is my latest find after watching "Chief Detective 1958"

It's strange that someone would pass up this drama because "there aren't any hot oppas in it." The cast is good-looking, and Ki Joo is a particularly lovely unnie

Every human, young or old, participates in the system that produces waste through daily activities and consumption patterns. The younger generations are the consumers with purchasing power, meaning their decisions influence the market, corporations, governments and, consequently, the environment

The current state of the world isn't only a product of the past; it's the result of ongoing bad decisions by humans of all ages
