For me it was both necessary and unnecessary. Unnecessary cuz they actually didn't have to kill her but they did cuz they needed to kill someone in order to justify and catalyse UK's next move and cuz killing yul was out of option she was the best target. Necessary cuz there was no happy end for her. As much as she loved yul theu could never be together. Not cuz of what she did but cuz of yul who may respect her but would never love a person who killed. He js just to upright for that. She had to die one way of other to redeem herself. Her sacrifice was her REDEMPTION
