It's like you read my mind. Although same pairings can end up good if the actors can really help people differentiate between characters. Like for example Zhang Xincheng from JitD (NOT a BL.) He really did a great job on that and even if i watched something else he's been in I can't see Pei Su in another of his other characters. Honestly though Thai Bl's always felt lacking to me so although I had somewhat higher hopes this would be good I knew not to get my hopes up. And I have watched bits of Cutie Pie and yeah 100% agree it's worse, mind you it was a previous work and the whole point is improving your acting but for me it's just full of Damsel in distress cliches, like you mentioned. In my opinion budget couldn't save this trainwreck. Everyones allowed their own opinion so no cursing me. Please and thank you.

No I believe he's the father's second wife's son. So not blood related. A Step Brother essentially through marriage. Or atleast that's what I took it as.
But the actor was great. When he met ZH as a general, he suddenly had the same aura than his "father".
Oh no doubt! When he appeared all I could think was 'Wow he looks so authorative?' or something similar to the word. 🤔 He really played Zhixing well even I was convinced he had some drastic character development but it all made sense so it really fit his character. All I meant before was he was just so fun at the beginning. I wish he didn't have to go through the hardships. Still a good drama though. 😁

Okey i don't know if it's just me but whenever i see Lan Qiao in the drama she looks like Qiao Ling from Link Click. Maybe it's just the hair but she reminds me so much of the character. Yep the subs are from Youku. And no they aren't machine translated don't worry. I've seen the machine translated version elsewhere and those are not them. They are the proper ones straight from Youku.
