I though of it for a second and I understand what you mean. I agree, Japanese have special way of telling stories, but their romance side isn’t my cup of tea. Maybe because I love indie movies, close to reality tropes. I only watch bl romance, simply because I can’t escape it, I just love it

it’s just too unrealistic, modern Japanese dating culture is different especially young ones. I have a lot of Japanese friends and they’re so open to everything and are brave and have very open sexual lives. Even if I don’t boil everyone in one bowl, this extreme shyness is just out of ordinary and unpleasant, especially when it’s an adaptation of a smutty novel.. In my opinion there’s nothing in this series that is unique to their culture, there are much better and realistic Japanese dramas that we can enjoy
