With each episode I can't seem to drum up the enthusiasm that I had in the first one cos the story is so cliche. Granted it's a rom-com but did they really not know how to put a new spin on the CEO slash working-class FL trope? I'm bored outta my mind. Sigh
"My only gripe with most c- dramas is the use of the squeaky baby voice....why why why is that so popular when it is irritating to most global viewers?
And the other irritating part are the tiny skirts and shorts that the girls have to wear."
Yeah, the squeaky baby voice is not limited to their dramas but is prevalent in Chinese society as a whole. I, too, have tried researching the reason for this, and the most I got was that it supposedly conveys "innocence, purity, and respect" which is all bollocks if you ask me. That said, China is still largely a patriarchal society where the women aren't really ready to buck the system. Concerning the shorts and minis, I'm equally as befuddled because all it does is infantilize these women making them look like pre-teens instead of the 20-something yo that they are.
Sigh. Wallace is an older Yang Yang but with even less talent. The man looks damn good and that's apparently enough. I've dropped every one of his dramas, including Ruyi.
He gave such a powerful performance in Desperate Love that I wanted (and hoped) to see what he's been up to lately. Luckily, I found his Weibo page. Xiao Shuai aka Chen Xu is doing well. https://weibo.com/huoxingdidi?refer_flag=1005050010_
