After Jom vanished from 1928, he didn't go back to the future (or his present), he went straight to the 1700s and met commander Yai and the story between them started. So after all of that happened he finally went back to the future as we saw in the finale episode. Remember Khun Yai and Jom was talking about reincarnation before, commander Yai fell in love with Jom so much, that's why in his next life (Khun Yai 1920s) he fell in love with Jom at the first sight. About the ending, they need to wrapped it up so they made it like this, and add that scene for potentially season 2 if they ever plan to make it in the future.
